Advertising is finally discovering and finding its way into the next generation of technology media and entertainment industries. Broadband, IPTV, Cable and interactive TV, mobile and of course in games, ads and branded information are delivered in many forms. The technologies behind ad-insertion, ad serving, on-demand technologies and a full host of back-end management technologies are enabling greater creativity and enhanced options in the relationship between technology and advertising. In this session, we will open an ongoing conversation of how technologies are evolving, where they are heading and how the advertising and branding industries will gain further technology traction.

Ed Forman, COO & Executive VP, ICTV Inc.: Ed rejoined ICTV in 2006 with the goal of combining the choice and control of the Internet with the responsiveness and video quality of television. Ed returned to the company after co-founding and serving as CEO of Switched Media, a developer of solutions for mass customization of live video streams that merged with ICTV. In his previous stint with ICTV, from 2001-04, Ed served as senior vice president of marketing and in an executive consulting capacity and was instrumental in launching the companys HeadendWare product. Previously, Ed had been president and CEO of RealContax, Inc. and vice president of marketing and new ventures for enCommerce, Inc., an Entrust acquisition. From 1996-99, Ed was senior vice president of product development and marketing for Elemental Software, Inc., where he managed the development and launch of "Drumbeat," the first drag-and-drop tool for active server pages, and helped to engineer the companys sale to Macromedia. Other key career accomplishments have included launch of the first system for accessing relational databases from off-the shelf PC applications with Network Innovations, and sale of the company to Apple Computer, and the launch of the first mobile wireless e-mail solution with RadioMail. Ed is a graduate of Harvard College, and earned his MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business. He enjoys cycling, tennis, travel and cross country skiing. As a cyclist, he has been a mentor to Team in Training, an organization that helps individuals achieve personal goals while raising money to find cures for blood cancers.
Robert Scheffler, Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff, Motorola Connected Home Solutions: Robert Scheffler is a distinguished member of the technical staff at Motorola Connected Home Solutions. His focus is on next generation media delivery platforms and business models. He provides senior management with acquisition strategy and cross-portfolio product integrations within Motorola. Prior to Motorola Connected Home Solutions, Scheffler was co-founder, CTO and Chief Architect of Broadbus Technologies, acquired by Motorola in September 2006. While at Broadbus Technologies, he was responsible for the original technical vision and architecture as well as the companys strategic planning and partnerships. Scheffler is inventor and patent holder for more than 15 years of solid-state DRAM server technology leading up to the founding of Broadbus. He is a member of CTAM, NCTA, SCTE, SMPTE, and the IEEE.
Chet Kanojia, Chief Executive Officer, Navic Networks, is an innovative leader known for pushing beyond the conventional to discover breakthrough solutions. Under his leadership, Navic Networks has become the most widely deployed addressable advertising and interactive television solution provider to North American cable and DBS industries. Chet honed his entrepreneurial edge providing product strategy analysis, systems architecture design, and program management at Product Genesis, Inc., a strategic product development, consulting firm spun out of the MIT Innovation Center. He holds a master's degree in Computer Systems Engineering from Northeastern University and a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Regional Engineering College Bhopal in India.
Jack Perry, Chief Titan, Founder, President and CEO, TitanTV Media: Jack Pe rry is a software industry pioneer respected across fields for his leadership and vision. From his earliest entrepreneurial venture creating statistical software for Olympic athletes training in the 1990s, to launching solutions related to digital television and the delivery of network programming over the Internet, Mr. Perry has demonstrated an unsurpassed ability to foresee and pursue leading-edge business opportunities. In his most recent position as Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of TitanTV Media Mr. Perry has served as chief architect of the companys key intellectual property. He has lead development of several patented technologies (seven awarded to date) including Geneva, the application that serves as the foundation for resolving Federal copyright issues between rights holders and content delivery platforms, including the Internet. Mr. Perry testified before Congress prior to adoption of the Satellite Home Viewer Act in 1999, and its 2004 extension, SHVERA, and has been called upon most recently to address issues related to the digital transition and delivery of content via the web. Mr. Perry also created TitanTV.com, the first electronic program guide to be DVR-enabled for use on the web. The backbone of TitanTV.com is MediaStar which is used by over 1,000 local television stations for injecting real-time changes into program listings. TitanCast is Mr. Perrys most recent patented technology. This historic application makes it possible to stream over-the-air signals via the web within the parameters of the established network affiliate structure. It is the only technology of its kind to authenticate and control streaming of local TV. As Chief Titan, Mr. Perry is a regular presenter at broadcast and technology conferences around the world, including the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), NABs Futures Summit, Streaming Media East and West, Kagan's Digital Household Summit, CES and Digital Hollywood. Mr. Perry has also been elected to the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, was named a member of the Consumer Electronics Association's Academy of Digital Television Pioneers and was voted one of the most influential people under 40 by Dealerscope Magazine, a leading consumer electronics industry publication. In addition, Mr. Perry has been a Keynote Speaker at the DTV Symposium and worked with former FCC Chairman, Michael Powell, to launch the formation of a Digital Television Consumer Education Plan. Prior to joining Decisionmark, Mr. Perry worked with high-growth, technology-based companies such as Powercore, CE Software, and Interactive Resources. He also co-authored, Groupware Technology and Applications, a respected book among early dotcom pioneers and in 1989 created RunningCounts, a statistical software package used by athletes in preparation for the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games. A resident of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mr. Perry earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree from the University of Iowa. In his spare time Mr. Perry has completed sixteen marathons, numerous triathlons and still laces up his skates to play competitive hockey.
Jay L. Sampson, Vice President, North American Sales, Massive, Microsoft Corporatio n, As Vice President of North American Sales for the Massive Network®, Mr. Sampson drives both Massives dynamic in-game advertising strategy as well as overseeing the sales efforts of the North American sales force. A seasoned executive with seventeen years of media sales experience, Mr. Sampson joined Microsoft Corporation in 1997 as one the first media sales executives for the company. Since joining, Jay has held a number of positions within in the organization including the development of the vertical sales approach by starting the MSN® Financial Services sales group as well running the broad sales team in the Western U.S. Hes also been a frequent evangelist for the online and now in-game mediums and worked closely with Microsoft product groups, game publishers like Electronic Arts to develop consumer features, advertising opportunities and solutions to meet the needs of Fortune 500 marketers. Prior to Microsoft, Jay worked in New York City for Dow Jones & Company in a number of capacities and was on the forefront of their efforts to launch sites like Barrons Online. Mr. Sampson sits on several civic and industry boards including the IABs Games Committee on behalf of Microsoft. Jay received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ. He resides in the Seattle area with his wife and three daughters.
Gordon Bellamy, executive consultant, MTV Networks: In his current role, Be llamy provides creative guidance on the content, direction and strategic marketing partnerships for the annual Spike TV Video Game Awards show and the highly rated weekly program Game Head also on Spike TV. Previously, he was Executive Director of the game industry's trade organization, the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences. Bellamy has also played key business and product development roles at Electronic Arts, where he was named the companys Rookie of the Year for his work on the best-selling Madden Football franchise, THQ, and Activision subsidiary Z-Axis. He earned a BA degree from Harvard College in engineering, where he was also a John Harvard scholar and AT&T/ Bell Labs Engineering scholar.
