Everything from blogging and Podcasting to Interactive TV is altering the user experience completely. The industry is finding a ready audience with an ever growing demand for better content and a better and a completely personalized experience. With the massive amount of content and technology being thrown at the consumer, navigating through that experience is not only difficult, it can be off-putting. Mark Pascarella, President & CEO, Gotuit Media Corp.: Mark Pascarella is President of Gotuit Media Corp. As one of Gotuits founding investors, Mark has been a member of the companys Board of Directors since inception and joined Gotuit full-time in 2001. Under Pascarellas direction, Gotuit has pioneered video search / navigation and has become the leading provider of on demand video products for multiple platforms including: cable, broadband and mobile. Before joining Gotuit Media, Pascarella teamed up with Sidney Topol, the former Chairman and CEO of Scientific-Atlanta (SFA), to found The Topol Group, an early-stage investment firm. In addition to Gotuit, The Topol Group's investments include broadband router manufacturer RiverDelta Networks (Motorola), cable services provider Navic Networks, VoIP switch maker Cedar Point Communications, and the multimedia semiconductor company Atsana, where Pascarella served on the Board of Directors. From 1992 to 1997, Pascarella worked in Business Development at Procter & Gamble. He holds a BS in Management from Bucknell University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Ali Diab, Co-Founder, President of Products & Technology, Ripple: As Co-Fou nder and President, Products and Technology at Ripple, Ali Diab has overall responsibility for engineering, marketing, operations and product management at the company. Before co-founding Ripple, Ali was Vice President at Yahoo!, where he managed Yahoo!s Web Search, Image Search, Video Search, Local Search, Maps and Yellow Pages product groups. Previously, he was Senior Director of Search Products at Yahoo!. Prior to Yahoo!, Ali was the General Manager of the MSN Mobile and Broadband product groups at Microsoft, where he oversaw the growth of MSN Mobile to become the Worlds #1 wireless Internet services portal. Previously, he served as Group Product Manager for MSN Messenger, where he oversaw the growth of MSN Messenger from less than 10 million users to over 75 million users. Before Microsoft, Ali was Co-Founder and President of BuildPoint.com, the Worlds first online commerce site for the construction and real estate industries. Ali has spoken at more than 30 industry conferences during his career, including Search Engine Strategies (SES), the Kelsey Group Conference, Web 2.0, AdTech and the Goldman Sachs Internet Conference. He has also been a guest speaker on several university speaker panels at Stanford, Berkeley, Caltech, Harvard and MIT. Ali is a graduate of Stanford University and Oxford University.
Jennifer Cooper, CEO, MixerCast: Jennifer Cooper brings more than 20 years of experience in sales and business development in technology and digital media industries to Mixercast. Her work with A-list digital media executives provides her with extensive knowledge of strategic content alliances, distribution and syndication. As CEO of Mixercast, Jennifers creativity and technical expertise builds winning strategies that drive business growth. Prior to joining Mixercast, Jennifer served as Executive Director of Business Development for Yahoo! Inc., where she designed and launched Yahoo!s first video subscription service and managed large media industry relationships including ABC/Disney, A&E Networks, Paramount, CBS, Time Warner/HBO and CNN. In addition, she was responsible for crafting and implementing broadband video content strategy, sourcing and acquisitions for co-branded portals such as ATT Yahoo! DSL, Verizon Yahoo! DSL, Rogers Yahoo! and BT Yahoo!. In addition to her tenure at Yahoo!, Jennifer led sales, business development and created strategic partnerships for digital media start-up companies including Generic Media and New Zing. She began her career managing sales at enterprise technology companies Oracle, Xerox and IBM before advancing into strategic business development positions at VXtreme Inc. (now the Microsoft Windows media platform) and Microsoft. As founder and executive vice president of nCommand, Inc, Jennifer served on the board of directors and was responsible for securing initial rounds of Venture financing, as well as creating initial client relationships for nCommands products. Jennifer holds a dual B.S. degree in computer science and marketing from San Francisco State University.
Robert Riopelle, Co-Founder and Vice President - Business Development, LiveHive : Robert Riopelle manages a global team of sales and marketing professionals and is responsible for developing client relationships and strategic partnerships. His mandate at LiveHive includes exploring new applications for the company's core technology and planning entry strategies into new markets. Riopelle has extensive experience developing and managing international business relationships with content suppliers, network aggregators, distributors, and wholesalers and has been successful in leading business units for both entrepreneurial ventures and large companies. Previously, Riopelle worked as a Business Development Manager with a Waterloo-based consumer electronics firm, managing the channel development and marketing initiatives for the international product launch of a mobile media product line. Riopelle was successful in building a distributed network of content suppliers, distributors, and marketing partners throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. Riopelle has worked in Seattle for Microsoft Corporation developing and promoting Microsoft technology to CEOs of Fortune-500 companies, and managing customer feedback analysis. Riopelle holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from Queen's University.
Dalen Harrison, CEO, Ensequence: Dalen Harrison's vision and leadership h ave been the driving force behind the growth and success of Ensequence. Since co-founding the company in 2000, he has led the organization and its strategic direction. Harrison inspired the development on-Q® software, the world's first truly cross-platform technology for interactive television. Prior to founding Ensequence, Harrison held a wide range of key positions during his tenure with Intel Corporation. He holds a master's in international management and finance, a bachelor's in math and economics and a bachelor's in computer science. As head of worldwide market development for Intel's Home Products Group, Harrison oversaw digital television marketing strategy and sales teams. He was the impetus behind the formation of Intel's Content Group and secured more than 50 content and technology contracts for Intel's Broadcast Products Group. Harrison played a key role in the launch of Intel's Intercast® Technology, the first interactive television software that was broadly available for the PC, which was supported by 12 national cable and broadcast networks, including NBC, CNN, MTV and QVC. In 1998, Harrison oversaw the formation of the Advanced Television Enhancement Forum (ATVEF), an alliance of leading companies dedicated to advancing interactivity, including Microsoft, DIRECTV, The Walt Disney Company, Warner Brothers, CNN Interactive and Tribune.
David Clarke, Vice President, Business Development, SearchForVideo: David is responsible for Searchformedia's content acquisition, partnerships & new business initiatives as well as liaising with film, television, new-media companies, content producers and aggregators wishing to build out their online multimedia search strategies. The last 7 years has seen him working with Rocketinfo a leading RSS company providing aggregated news & weblog content search. Previously he has held senior positions with imaging & internet technology companies in the roles of Sales, Brand Management and Business Development. Searchformedia is a leading video search company, powering one of the Internet's most comprehensive video search experiences available through a network of portals including searchforvideo.com. The company's proprietary "learning" technology enables consumers to quickly find premium video content by removing search result links to files that are static, incomplete or broken. Its unique search results are the only type of its kind that direct consumers back to the content owner's website before playing the content, enabling providers and media creators to build their own traffic and better monetize content. Ben Mendelson is the founder and president of the Interactive Television Alliance, an independent trade association representing the broad interests of the entire iTV industry. He is also the co-founder and sr. partner in 2degree Partners, a management consultancy involved in iTV, Direct Response TV, and integrated online services. Ben has been an innovator in developing interactive "t-commerce" applications and has been involved in New Media marketing from its earliest days. He was a founding member of Digital Bayside and the Addressable Media Coalition and has held leadership positions in various organizations, including the Electronic Retailing Assoc. (ERA) and the Assoc. of Interactive Media (AIM). In January 1994, he started one of the first commercial Internet companies, where his clients included Sony Pictures, HBO, House of Blues, Philips Media, and Graham Nash. In 1996, Ben created the Internet Services Division for Curtco Freedom Publishing, where he designed online versions of various magazines including HomeTheater, Entertainment@Home, and Mobile Computing. In 1999, he developed the Internet division for Williams Direct, a full service Direct Response TV (DRTV) advertising agency. Later that year, Ben was hired to head the Internet program for the Electronic Retailing Association, the primary trade organization for the DRTV industry. In April 2000, Ben became VP of Business Development for the Winterberry Group, a research based consultancy that specializes in Direct Marketing; his focus was integrating iTV / DRTV and developing new business models. Prior to his Internet experience (from 1982 - 1991), Ben was the owner and director of LAPA (L.A. Art Photographers Association), an art gallery and resource center for commercial and fine art photography. In 1992, he founded PhotoSource, a showcase, service bureau, and training center for digital imaging. Ben has long established relationships with EarthLink, Netscape/AOL, and WebTV/MicrosoftTV along with Liberate, OpenTV, Wink, QVC, HSN, and Guthy-Renker. He has taught at the American Film Institute(AFI), UCLA Extension, So. CA Institute of Architecture(SCIArch), L.A. Internet Group, and the Learning Annex. Ben writes a regular column for Response Magazine and has been published in MediaTrends, Digitrends, Retailing.org, and Entertainment@Home. He is on the advisory board of the American Film Institute (AFI) Enhanced TV Program and is a familiar speaker at many iTV, Internet, and Direct Marketing conferences.
