Advertising is finally discovering and finding its way into the next generation of technology media and entertainment industries. Broadband, IPTV, Cable and interactive TV, mobile and of course in games, ads and branded information are delivered in many forms. The technologies behind ad-insertion, ad serving, on-demand technologies and a full host of back-end management technologies are enabling greater creativity and enhanced options in the relationship between technology and advertising. In this session, we will open an ongoing conversation of how technologies are evolving, where they are heading and how the advertising and branding industries will gain further technology traction.

Dave Vockell, VP, Ad Strategy Yahoo!: Dave Vockell has over fifteen years of marketing and interactive experience, with leadership roles at startups, Fortune 50 corporations, VCs and now Yahoo! His advertising and marketing insight is rooted in eight years at American Express working in the US, Europe and Asia eventually holding the position of VP Interactive Strategy. Additionally, Mr. Vockells four years at Booz|Allen|Hamilton in their Media and Entertainment Practice included strategy and interactive initiatives at leading print, television and pure interactive companies. Today Dave works in the Corporate Development Group at Yahoo!, working with sales, tech, product and operations to continue to further Yahoo!s leadership in connecting marketers and advertisers with their prospects and customers. Dave holds a degree in Economics and Computer Studies from Northwestern University.
Kenneth O. Lipscomb, FourSpots CEO, Ken has over 20 ye ars of experience in implementing database, interactive multimedia, and publishing and communications technologies. Most recently, Ken has founded FourSpots, the first online video advertising exchange. FourSpots has developed a technology called FourCasting which allows for the simultaneous delivery of video advertising to PC, mobile, TV and Digital Displays. Prior to FourSpots, Ken founded and served as Chairman and CEO of DAVE.TV, an online international social broadcast network. While at DAVE.TV, Ken felt the need to create an advertising agency that could fuel his brainchild. Hence, FourSpots was conceived. Prior to DAVE.TV, he also founded ZapMedia. At ZapMedia he raised over $270 million in funding and during the Internet hey day, achieved a market valuation of greater than $1 billion. Prior to founding ZapMedia, Ken was the founder, President and CEO of InfoGraphix Technologies, Inc. a computer software development company specializing in digital print controllers and Postscript printing software. Prior to founding InfoGraphix, Ken conceived and co-founded ADAM Software, Inc. from 1989 to 1991, and served as its Chief Technology Officer. ADAM Software (now Adam, Inc.) is a publicly traded company that created an interactive graphical program for the presentation of human anatomy and medical related information.
Peter Pham, Vice President, Business Development, Photobucket: Peter is Vic e President of Business Development responsible for strategic business development, partnerships, and user growth. Peter has experience in business development and product with particular expertise around emerging technologies. Prior to PhotoBucket, Peter held various Director of Business Development positions at companies such as Tigi Corporation, a high performance storage platform based on solid state technologies; Vectant, a U.S. division of Japanese conglomerate Marubeni; and DesktopOnline. Peter has a BS in Biology and Minor in Business Management from the University of California, Irvine.
Philip N. Kaplan, Chief Strategy Officer, Internap: Philip N. Kaplan is Chief Strate gy Officer for Internap. An experienced and entrepreneurial senior executive, leader and strategist with 18 years experience in the IT industry, Kaplan is responsible for setting Internaps long term strategic objectives. Prior to joining Internap, Kaplan co-founded VitalStream, Inc. in 2000, serving in a number of key senior leadership positions including as President and Chief Operating Officer, member and Secretary of its Board of Directors. In his seven years with VitalStream, Inc., Kaplan was instrumental in the companys founding, growth and strategic planning, leading the company through five acquisitions, NASDAQ-listing and finally the successful merger with Internap. Prior co-founding VitalStream, in 1995 Kaplan co-founded AnaServe, Inc where he served as Senior Vice President until 1999. AnaServe was acquired by Concentric Network Corp in 1998. From 1993 to 1995, Kaplan was a Partner and Director of Sales for MicroTac Software, a company acquired by Globalink, Inc. in 1994. Kaplan graduated from the University of California, Davis from with a bachelors degree in Economics, with a minor in Russian language. He has also completed non-degree graduate studies in Marketing and Accounting at the University of California, Berkeley Extension and Golden Gate University
Don Loeb, VP Business Development at FeedBurner: As Vice President of Partner Services overseeing Strategic Partnerships at FeedBurner, Don Loeb fosters relationships with the largest media companies in the world helping them to leverage the opportunities afforded by syndication. Previously, Don was director of business development for Yahoo!'s Network Products business unit where he helped drive the company's open content syndication and social media efforts. He has also held senior positions at YellowBrix, Inc. and iSyndicate, Inc. where he developed corporate strategy around syndication of audio/video content and assisted with corporate development initiatives and the sale of the company. Don heads up FeedBurner's branch office in San Francisco and, while based on the West Coast, he has often been spotted at opposite ends of the country and world - mysteriously - at the same time. Don received a B.A. degree in Applied Economics from the University of California - Berkeley.
Chad Kinzelberg, Director, Scale Venture Partners: Chad is focused on internet and enterprise software investments and joined Scale Venture Partners in 2006 with more than 20 years of marketing, sales, and general management experience. Prior to ScaleVP, he was General Manager and Senior Vice President of VeriSign's SSL business unit, where he managed the P&L and led all functional groups for the company's flagship division. During his tenure at VeriSign, Chad was responsible for more than doubling revenue growth, expanding international distribution, and cultivating relationships with Fortune 500 customers. He also led the two strategic acquisitions to strengthen VeriSign's leadership in the security market. Prior to his position with VeriSign, Chad was President and CEO of Santa Cruz Networks and VP of Marketing at Caere Corporation (now called Nuance). He also held senior-level positions with Delrina Corporation and Polaris Software.
Chad holds an MBA degree from Rice University and a BA degree in Economics from Claremont McKenna College.
Mark Friedler, Publisher, GameDaily, part of AOL Games: Mark is Director of Games at AOL and publisher of GameDaily. He was CEO and co-founder of GameDaily / Gigex, Inc . (http://www.GameDaily.com) a leading provider of video game news, reviews, free downloads and trade news. He founded the company in 1999, raised a venture round of JP Morgan Chase and others. He grew it into a leading game media conglomerate and sold it to AOL in August 2006. He pioneered Internet distribution as a marketing tool with the Gigex download service that offered free hosted downloadable demo and trailer content as a targeted marketing tool through a partner network including Yahoo, MSN, TryGames/Macrovision and others. He has 12 years experience marketing and promoting hundreds of video games online. In 2001, he rebuilt the Companys business model from a hosted download service and created a targeted online ad model. The Company became profitable during the Dotcom meltdown of 2002. He acquired 2 content companies and grew to be the 3rd largest content provider in the video game market. He is a recognized as an internet advertising and entertainment media expert and is a frequently invited speaker and panelist at industry events including CES, E3, Digital Hollywood, Digital Media Wire, Entertainment Merchants Assoc, Jupiter, IQPC and other events. He is the video game columnist for the IMedia Connection newsletter and he has written for industry publications Software Business , GameDaily and SIIAs Upgrade. From 1997-1999, Mark was founder and CEO of V-Cast, Inc, the first provider of Internet push delivery content. The company received a US Patent for the technology. Clients included the New York Times, CMP and Time Inc.. He sold it to Verizon Wireless. 1994-97, Mark was Director of Sales/Marketing at Reach Networks in New York where he managed sales and new service development to Fortune 500 clients. He spent 6 years in Europe from 1988-1994 where he was Managing Director of Teleworld Sweden AB from 1992-94, a division of Philips Media, that developed and operated interactive television-based online entertainment and transaction services with MTV Europe, RTL and other major European broadcasters. From 1988-1992, he founded and operated Swedens first chain of cookie stores. He grew up in the New York City area, holds a B.A in Political Science from Hamilton College, Clinton, NY and has taken graduate courses in business law, programming and network management. He speaks fluent Spanish, Swedish and conversational French. Mark lives in Walnut Creek, CA with his wife and 2 young sons.
