Bill Stone, President, Amp'd Mobile: Amp'd Mobile President Bill Stone oversees the daily operations of the Amp'd US and International businesses and manages the strategic direction of the company. Since assuming his expanded role in October 2006, Stone has served as the driving force behind Amp'd Mobile's International expansion, with launches of the Amp'd Experience in both Canada and Japan scheduled for early 2007. Before joining Amp'd, Stone worked at Verizon Wireless as a Vice President responsible for a number of areas including Strategy, Planning, Content, Music, Internet/E-Commerce, and a variety of Marketing functions. Prior to joining Verizon Wireless, Stone held a variety of executive positions with Vodafone including Chief Marketing Officer for Vodafone Australia, member of the Board of Directors, and Chief Marketing Officer for J-Phone in Tokyo (now Softbank Mobile). Stone also worked for AirTouch and GTE in a variety of management positions. In those roles, he oversaw a number of firsts in the US market, including the first launch of CDMA technology in Los Angeles and first Prepay launch in the US. Stone holds an MBA and BA from Rice University. He shares time between Southern California and Austin, Texas with his wife Audrey and three children: Will, Andrea, and Alex.
JOHN SMELZER, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Mobile, Fox Interactive Media: John Smelzer is Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobile for Fox Interactive Media (FIM), a role in which he is charged with overseeing the mobile extensions of FIMs online assets, including FOXSports.com, IGN.com, MySpace.com, MyFOX.com and others. His group, which was formed in March 2006, manages diverse FIM-branded mobile product offerings on a global basis, spanning the wireless product spectrum from WAP to video. Smelzer joined FOXSports.com as Director, Business Development in August 2001. In this role, he secured FOX Sports place as an industry leader in broadband video. Promoted to Vice President in 2002, Smelzer pioneered Fox Sports mobile business, including the top-ranked FOX Sports mobile video offering, available on all major carriers and aggregators. Smelzer also led negotiations with Microsoft for the exclusive distribution of FOXSports.com on MSN. As Senior Vice President of Business Development for FIM (July 2005 March 2006), Smelzer helped lead the formation of the new division of News Corp. while overseeing third-party partnerships, including the acquisition of rights to produce AmericanIdol.com and other entertainment programming. Previously, Smelzer was the Director of Business Development for NBCOlympics.com (1999-01), Senior Business Affairs Counsel for the NFL (1995-99) and staff counsel for the 1994 World Cup Organizing Committee (1993-94). Prior to his career in media, Smelzer was an associate at Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati in Palo Alto, Calif., and Jeffer, Mangles, Butler & Marmaro in Los Angeles, Calif. Smelzer earned a B.A. from UCLA in 1987 and a J.D. from NYU in 1991.
Bill Sanders, Vice President, Mobile Networks Programming and Digital Product Development, Sony Pictures Television International: As vice president, mobile networks programming and digital product development Bill Sanders drives the strategic planning and implementation of Sony Pictures Television Internationals (SPTI) emerging digital network business, through both the expansion of SPTI network brands and opportunities into ubiquitous mobile and online destinations, and the digital exploitation of network-derived products. Most recently, Sanders served as president of Pervasive Media where he consulted businesses which focused on entertainment content for mobile devices; in particular, video for cell phones. Prior to that position, Sanders was senior vice president for Big Ticket Television, a Paramount/Viacom company, where he oversaw all current network and syndicated programming and spearheaded Big Tickets entry into enhanced television. Throughout his career, Sanders has served as vice president of original programming for HBO and supervising producer for the channels award winning comedy series "Dream On". In addition, he has held positions at Universal Television, Warner Brothers Television, and ABC. Sanders has a bachelor of arts degree in communication from Stanford University.
Dan Novak, Vice President, Programming & Advertising, MediaFLO USA Inc.: Da n Novak is vice president of programming and advertising for MediaFLO USA Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of QUALCOMM Incorporated that is revolutionizing the mobile entertainment experience. MediaFLO USA aggregates premium, full-length content from the best-known entertainment brands, delivering a mobile entertainment service, called FLO TV, to mobile phones via a dedicated nationwide multicast network. In his role, Novak is responsible for programming strategy, content acquisition, production, advertising and consumer research. Novak has played a pivotal role in MediaFLO USAs strategy and negotiations with leading media organizations, and he successfully finalized multi-year licensing agreements with CBS, ESPN, FOX, NBC and MTV Networks. Novak and his team have worked with their programming partners to develop innovative content and programming strategies to deliver the premier mobile television experience available anywhere. Novak joined QUALCOMM with more than two decades of media experience. A television sports and programming veteran, Novak was the vice president and general manager of Channel 4 San Diego, launching and then driving the growth and innovation of the award-winning regional network since its launch in 1997. Under his direction, Channel 4 San Diego grew into a dominant network in the regional sports and media market. While with Cox Communications, Novak oversaw the sports marketing investments and programming ventures for the region including the Padres, PETCO Park and Cox Arena at San Diego State University. Novak also was responsible for Media and Public Relations for Cox in the region and hosted a regular television show. Novak began his television career as a sports anchor, reporter and producer for NBC affiliates. A graduate of what is now Arizona State Universitys Walter Cronkite School of Journalism, Novak received his Masters degree from San Diego State Universitys School of Communication, where he has served as a part-time faculty member.
Jon Vlassopulos is Vice President, Business Development, Strategic Planning and New Media for Endemol USA, the largest independent television production company in the world. He is responsible for developing new distribution channels and creative revenue opportunities for Endemols library of shows as well as developing programming for non traditional platforms such as VOD, broadband, and wireless. Previously Jon was President of Kargo, a leading mobile content company that publishes the mobile applications of major media brands such as Vibe, Spin, Weekly World News, and Premiere. Prior to Kargo Global, Jon was Senior Director of business development and strategic partnerships at Cingular Wireless. He managed the entertainment product groups (ringtones, wallpapers, photos, music etc), media partnerships, a youth group focused on delivering cutting edge new applications and services. He launched the industrys first end to end wireless music service, the first music recognition service, and the largest SMS brand campaigns with Kelloggs and McDonalds. Vlassopulos has also held executive positions at AT&T Wireless and at the major media conglomerate Bertelsmann AG, working in New York, Hong Kong, and Tokyo in their music, media, and technology businesses where he spearheaded many of the companys new digital initiatives. Jon received his undergraduate degree from Durham University in Chinese, Economics and Korean. He is a regular speaker at Media and Wireless conferences such as CTIA, Digital Hollywood, Digital Commerce Summit, Music 2.0, NAPTE, Mobile Entertainment Forum, Digital Music Forum and others.
Daniel Tibbets, Executive Vice President, Studios, GoTV Networks: Daniel Tibbet s brings substantial traditional and new media experience in the entertainment field to GoTV. Prior to joining GoTV, Tibbets spent 16 years at the vortex of the entertainment industry and has held senior executive roles in production and development for companies such as CBS Enterprises, Fireworks Television, Inc., Papazian-Hirsch Entertainment and Twentieth Television. At Twentieth Television, Tibbets ran FOXLAB, Inc. where he co-created and developed the first ever mobisode. In addition, Tibbets executive produced the first two original content mobisodes Love and Hate and Sunset Hotel, which launched in February 2005. Tibbets also developed the first convergence program to air on broadcast television at FOXLAB. In addition to his work at Twentieth Television, Tibbets is credited with the development and sale of the HBO series ROME from his work at Papazian-Hirsch. Tibbets graduated from Arizona State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing with an emphasis in International marketing and business.
Craig Shapiro, Head of Content Strategy and Acquisition, HELIO: As head of conte nt strategy and acquisition at HELIO Craig Shapiro develops strategic partnerships and negotiates licensing arrangements with leading brands and entertainment properties to create a distinct experience for HELIO members. Prior to joining HELIO, Craig served as vice president of sales and marketing at Proteus, a leading developer and publisher of mobile content. At Proteus, he spearheaded development of an exclusive partnership with ABC television to launch their direct-to-consumer mobile portal http://www.abc.com/mobile/ and secured progressive content agreements with prominent media companies, such as Bunim/Murray Productions, Clear Channel Entertainment, Discovery Channel, FOX Television, Granada America, HBO, NBC and Univision Communications. Craig received his B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis in Political Science. He is originally from Washington, DC.
Frank Chindamo, President and Chief Creative Officer, Fun Little Movies: Frank Chindamo is the President and Chief Creative Officer of Fun Little Movies. "FLM" specializes in producing original, live-action comedy films for its mobile channels of entertainment on Sprint-Nextel, Microsoft, Smart Video phones, in the US and many other countries around the world. Theyre known as "Fun Funny Phone Films." Fun Little Movies has been the subject of cover stories in Forbes Magazine and the L.A. Times, and stories in Variety, Hollywood Reporter, CBS Radio, Wired Magazine, CBS TVs Inside Edition, The Chicago Tribune, and several other outlets. Frank Chindamo holds the world's record for most short films made independently. His films have appeared on HBO, Showtime, CBS, PBS, A&E, Playboy, MTV and Comedy Central, etc. Theyve won 20 awards including The American Cine Golden Eagle, The American International Film Festival and a Finalist's Place for Best Short at the Cannes Film Festival. Frank is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern California. At USC, Frank teaches short screenplay writing. He also created the Student Script Database, the tool which will allow directors and writers to pool their talent and is intended to bring the best-written scripts at USC to the screen. As Executive Director of the Staged Screenplay Reading Series at the Lee Strasberg Theater, and as the Director of the Professional Screenwriting Workshops at SONY Studios, Chindamo developed fourteen feature films which have been produced for the screen. Frank also taught at the Gotham Writers Workshop and City University of New York. Frank was also a Vice President of Development at two production companies in LA and has worked as a script consultant on numerous projects. Frank Chindamo received his Film B.F.A. from N.Y.U. and his Screenwriting M.F.A. from Columbia University.
