Personalized TV: Exploring the True Power of IPTV
The integration of the TV experience with the full power of the new consumer technologies from broadband to mobile opens to door to not only an unique world of entertainment and information, it brings to the table a next generation idea of full consumer interactivity within the TV experience. Personalized TV will forever change the consumer entertainment landscape it will open the door to a consumer with more and greater control over his or her environment in touch with family members, enjoying HD programming, accessing and saving information and ultimately creating it and sharing it with others. The Personalized TV experience represents a huge step forward, and at this event, we are pleased to take small steps forward in that direction.

Daren Gill, Senior Vice President of Product Development, ChoiceStream: Dare n Gill serves as Senior Vice President of Product Development. He was elevated to his new role in March 2007. In this role, Daren helps shape the companys Entertainment product strategy while leading ChoiceStream into new areas of product innovation. Previously, he held the title of Vice President of Business Development, Entertainment Products Group. In this role, Daren focused on sales and business development efforts in the entertainment industrys significant and growing market for music, movies, games and TV personalization. Prior to this appointment, Daren served as ChoiceStreams Vice President of Music Development. Darens work prior to ChoiceStream includes serving as Senior Vice President of Marketing for MusicMaker.com (NASDAQ: HITS), a leading Internet music service, where he managed the worldwide marketing efforts and direct response marketing strategies for album releases by high-profile artists such as Jimmy Page, The Black Crowes and The Who. Before MusicMaker, Daren was Senior Vice President and COO for Putumayo World Music, a leading world music record label. While at Putumayo, Daren built a direct distribution network of 3,000+ stores across the United States, signed over 40 distributors in foreign territories, grew revenue from $3m to $12m, and established a European base of operations that continues to contribute a significant portion of the parent companys revenues to this day.
Matthew Marnik, Director of Marketing, Juniper Networks: Matthew Marnik is a Dir ector of Marketing for the Multiplay group at Juniper Networks, where he is focused on IPTV, IPTV advertising, next-gen high margin services. He also brings a wealth of broadband experience to the Broadband Services Forum, for which he has served on the Board of Directors and as its Vice President of Marketing. Previously with Nortel, Matthew worked on defining and marketing triple play solutions, launched the industry's first Optical Ethernet solution, introduced Nortel's Ethernet switching portfolio to the service provider market, and developed the enterprise market for broadband IP services. Matthew has spoken at dozens of industry events and conferences around the world. Prior to his work at Nortel Networks, Matthew was a management consultant with Price Waterhouse in New York. Matthew has an MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business and a B.A. from the College of the Holy Cross.
Nizar Allibhoy, SVP and General Manager, ActiveMedia Group, ICTV: Nizar joined IC TV in 2007 to develop new programming solutions that allow network operators, content providers and advertisers to maximize the revenue potential of the ICTV ActiveVideo platform. As head of the ActiveMedia Group, Nizar has brought to the company extensive experience in the development of television and online interactive content distribution. Prior to joining ICTV, Nizar served as a consultant to several startup ventures and as CEO of ClickStar, Inc., a joint venture between actor Morgan Freemans Revelations Entertainment and Intel Corp. that has been created to provide an online venue for independent film producers. From 2001-2004, Nizar was a vice president for Sony Pictures Digital, Inc., where his duties included interactive television, content distribution services and the development of the companys Digital Service Platform and Digital Home Entertainment product for the online distribution of entertainment, media and feature films. In 1999, Nizar founded and served as CEO of Accelerate TV, an interactive television infrastructure services provider that was acquired by RespondTV. Nizar entered the cable industry in 1993 as project manager for various interactive initiatives with Time Warner Cable, served as a consultant on Web and television interactive projects from 1996-98 and was director, strategic projects and technology with Intertainer from 1998-99. Named on five patents related to interactive content delivery, Nizar holds a B.S in Computer Science from California State University at Northridge.
John Reister, Chief Architect, IPTV, BigBand: John Reister has over 14 years of experience in broadband and telecommunications, serving as chief architect for IPTV of BigBand Networks, responsible for the strategic and technical direction of the companys IPTV offerings. Prior to joining BigBand Networks, Mr. Reister was chief technology officer with leading DSL access platform vendor Copper Mountain Networks, where he was responsible for the technical vision and strategic direction. While there he drove technical product requirements from inception, developed a video distribution strategy, led regulatory strategy including serving on an FCC panel, and developed patent-pending technologies. Mr. Reister has also held positions at Bain & Company with a focus on telecommunications, and Sun Microsystems, Sunsoft division. Mr. Reister holds a bachelors of science degree from Pennsylvania State University, a masters of science in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Princeton University, and a masters of business administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Ed Graczyk, Director of Marketing and Communications, Microsoft TV Division, Microsoft Corporation: As Director of Marketing and Communications for Microsoft Corporations Microsoft TV division, Ed Graczyk is responsible for establishing the company as the leading provider of software that enables network operators, consumer electronics manufacturers, and TV content providers to create and deliver enhanced TV services worldwide. Mr. Graczyk oversees all communications, public relations, branding, positioning, advertising, partner co-marketing and events worldwide for the Microsoft TV family of software products. Prior to moving to the Microsoft TV division, Mr. Graczyk worked in the companies MSN operation, as marketing lead for the award-winning MSN MoneyCentral personal finance service and the MSN Communications Services, where he launched MSN Messenger Service and MSN Web Communities. In 1994, he received the Corporate Account Executive of the Year Award at Microsoft. Prior to joining Microsoft, Mr. Graczyk spent six years with Unisys Corporation, serving in various sales and product management positions with a focus on customers in the banking, securities, and insurance industries. Ed Graczyk holds a bachelor of science degree from the Boston College School of Management, with a triple major in marketing, computer science and economics. He is a frequent speaker at digital TV industry events, including Broadcast Asia, CTAM Research Conference, Digital Hollywood, DigiTrends Camp Interactive, Kagan Interactive TV Summit, IFA Berlin and the PBS Technology Conference. Mr. Graczyk is a member of the Cable and Telecommunications Association for Marketing. Brian Mahony, Vice President, Marketing, Espial: As Vice President of Marketing, Brian leads marketing and product management activities and is responsible for promoting Espial brand leadership for IPTV middleware and applications. His 14-year background in marketing, strategy, and business development spans IPTV, VoIP, edge routing, wireless, and TDM switching. Prior to Espial, Brian was Vice President of Marketing for market-leading VoIP and triple play vendor Netcentrex until its $180M acquisition by Comverse. Other management and consulting experience includes roles at Siemens, Nextel, Loral, and Nortel. Brian earned an MBA from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and a BA from Boston College. He is a frequent writer and speaker on next-generation services and was named "Top 100 Voices of IP Communications" over the past ten years by Internet Telephony magazine.
Steve McKay is the CEO of Entone, Inc., a leading provider of customer premise quipment (CPE) solutions that enable the delivery of IP television (IPTV) services. Steve has been a pioneer in helping cable operators and telcos develop and create new business models for financially successful broadband video and personal television services. This includes the establishment of interactive on-demand and digital video recorder (DVR) services. For almost 20 years, Steve has focused his career on broadband multimedia services for the communications industry. Before Entone, Steve worked with the companys founding members to launch the worlds first commercial IP telco video service. Prior to joining Entone, he served as CEO of Ion Global, a pan-Asian systems integrator. Under his direction, Ion Global grew from 50 employees in one country to over 1,200 in ten countries. McKay also spent more than 12 years with Accentures Communications Industry Practice (formerly Andersen Consulting), working with some of the world's leading cable TV operators and telcos on their broadband and interactive television strategies and deployments.
TOBY MORNING is a serial entrepreneur, who founded Urban Technology Ventures in 2001 in Hollywood, California, U.S.A. Toby was previously VP of Business development for Destiny Media Technologies, and worked on the MPE DRM, and Radio Destiny projects while at Destiny. Toby is the founder of the DJ Union, IP Network Systems, WIFI Phone Network, Urban Colo Networks, IP Band, Blue Monitor, Hip Mode, Digiplates.com Software, and in investor in several other technology companys. Tobys focus is now on developing cutting edge internet services specifically for Africa, and the emerging markets. Tobys Hip Mode company is quickly becoming the top content provider to African carriers, and boast some 300 games on license from game publishers. Currently working in the office of the CEO as the Director of Market Innovation & Expansion with the Accton Group of Taiwan, a $950 Million dollar a year networking equipment manufacturer and creators of the Skype WIFI Phone through their wholly owned subsidiary, SMC Networks.
