Mobile Film & TV – Content, Advertising & Technology Strategies to Make the System Go
To fully appreciate and understand the parameters and momentum behind the move to broadband and video on mobile platforms, having a grasp of the technology and devices which drives the system and define how the consumer will be able to experience mobile video, film and TV. In this session, we bring together a group of knowledgeable executives in the mobile technology, content and advertising space, all members of companies who are playing a formative role in the evolution of the mobile broadband universe. The explosion of content on mobile is simply a reflection of how great the enabling technologies and the networks are and there is no question that with the advancements being made on all fronts, the ability for the consumer to appreciate and experience high quality mobile is not in question.

Peter Linder, Director End-to-End Network Solutions, Networks Group, Business Unit Systems, Ericsson AB: Mr. Linder’s role covers Broadband Access, IP Softswitching for Telephony and Multimedia applications as well as the installed base of AXE. Prior to his current position he was Technical Director for Broadband access, when Ericsson re-positioned towards Public Ethernet and introduced Ethernet DSL access, the most powerful IP-DSLAM in the market to date. In his role at Ericsson he is actively involved in the work to advance IP/Ethernet Broadband standards for Triple play service delivery in DSL Forum, Metro Ethernet Forum, MUSE, IEEE, ITU-T, ANSI and ETSI. He is a frequent speaker at various Broadband industry events, with international appearances in 2004 covering Broadband World Forum (Seoul & Venice), Voice-on-the-Net (Boston) & xDSL Summit (Nice). International speaking commitments in 2005 is involving: 21 Century Communications World Forum (London), VON Spring (San Jose), VON Europe (Stockholm), Broadband World Forum Asia (Yokohama) & SuperComm (Chicago).

A. Pierre Yurow, Director, Business Development, Bling Mobile: Pierre has spent the last ten years initiating and maintaining agreements with mobile carriers, MVNO’s, content providers, ODM’s; system integrators and enterprise partners worldwide and worked previously for Cellfire, Proteus, Wcities and Cellular One (now AT&T). He is a graduate of New York University. A Recording Artist (Electronic), Pierre is currently composing and arranging two albums of original material for Recording Artist Suhana (Vocalist). In his spare time he is also an accomplished Triathlete completing the Ironman Triathlon (twice) and competed in the Olympic Trials for Triathlon in 2000 (Europe) and 2004 (Asia).






Nicholas Reichenbach, VP, Bplay: Nicholas Reichenbach has over ten years of experience in the music, media, technology, games and entertainment industries. He has successfully brokered international partnerships with companies such as MTV, Universal Music, Sony/BMG, THQ wireless, Hands On Mobile (Mforma), Glu Mobile and Nokia through various projects ranging from digital asset management, IP licensing, and B2B/D2C mobile content distribution/publishing to integrated 360° marketing campaigns directed at mass market product exposure. As Vice President of Bplay, a division of Magmic Games, Nicholas helps drive the overall strategy for the company and heads the publishing and licensing agreement negotiations for mobile entertainment rights with the industry’s top publishers including Sony Pictures, THQ wireless, Hands-on Mobile (Mforma), Glu Mobile and Popcap, as well as all major music labels. He is responsible for launching the world’s largest direct to customer (D2C) BlackBerry entertainment portal (www.bplay.com) which houses top mobile content exclusively for BlackBerry users worldwide. Previously, Nicholas worked in Europe for Gamefederation and Gulp Media, as Director of International Business Development. As such, Nicholas created and executed D2C cross-pollination (360°) campaigns for mobile communities totaling 14 million members in Europe and spear-headed mobile music licensing initiatives with companies such as Hewlett Packard (mobile services), MTV, Motorola, T-mobile, among others.

Roger Wood, SVP and GM of Americas, Amobee Media Systems: Roger Wood is responsible for Amobee’s dealings with wireless companies, mobile entertainment publishers and advertisers in the Americas. Prior, he served as COO & Practice Leader for the Media, Entertainment & Technology Practice at Willis Group, an international consulting firm. Previously, he was Corporate Vice President of Global Marketing at Reebok International. He served as General Manager of the international business for the consortium of start-up mobile operators which became T-Mobile USA: Aerial; Voicestream; Omnipoint; and Powertel. He began his wireless career as the marketing leader for the iDEN division of Motorola which created and launched the Nextel.

James Bruce is ARM’s North American segment manager for mobile products and has 10 years marketing and business development experience in mobile and consumer electronics technologies, both from the device and the network perspective. James has extensive experience dealing with handset manufacturers in Asia and Mobile Operators both in the US and Europe. Prior to working in the mobile space James was at C-Cube Semiconductor where he focused upon strategic and product marketing for C-Cube’s consumer product line, during which time he gained extensive experience working with Tier 1 consumer electronics companies and launching new video technologies. He then made the strategic move from the traditional consumer video market to the new emerging market of mobile content and services. Working at Luxxon he focused upon mobile video solutions for mobile carriers, which are being used today by Hutchison Whampoa’s 3G operations in Europe. After Luxxon he joined PACE-Soft Silicon (purchased by Nvidia) were he gained extensive experience working with handset ODMs and OEMs in Taiwan, and silicon partners to deliver enhanced video and audio capabilities and applications to mobile devices.

Brett Azuma is the Head of Ovum in North America. In this role, he is responsible for Ovum’s business in North America including Advisory Services and Sales. Brett has 20 years of experience in marketing, engineering, sales and operations. Most recently, Brett has led the marketing and sales efforts for a voice over IP media server start-up called IP Unity. Prior to that, he spent five years at Gartner in roles including Principal Analyst, Public Networks; Chief Analyst, Telecommunications; Group Vice President; and Head of Research for Gartner’s G2 research division. In the latter role, Brett initiated voice over IP coverage. Before joining Gartner, Brett held a range of positions within Pacific Bell, ranging from engineering and operations to marketing and product development. Among these responsibilities was Head of Data Services and New Product Development at Pacific Bell’s long-distance arm; Head of AIN and Advanced Voice Product Development; Engineering Manager for new switching technologies; and Senior Engineer for new technologies. Brett has presented at numerous telecommunications conferences on topics including data network traffic management, voice over IP, adoption of triple-play services, bundling, data networking and business services. He has also been seen on CNBC interviews discussing a wide range of telecommunications subjects. Brett has helped provide diligence support for clients evaluating M&A activities for vendors in the voice over IP and IPTV markets. Additionally, he has been responsible for business case development for services (including AIN, LNP, ATM, ISDN, area-wide centrex, E911 and long-haul frame relay) and equipment (including media servers, application servers, voicemail, unified messaging, announcement servers and conference bridges). Finally, Brett provides strategic advice to companies that sell and purchase modular infrastructures including ATCA. Brett earned a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California at Davis.

DeWayne Nelon, CEO of Ortiva Wireless: With more than twenty years of telecommunications industry experience, Nelon is a recognized expert in the delivery of mobile video over highly variable wireless networks. Prior to Ortiva, he was President, North American Telecoms for LogicaCMG, a major provider of IT and wireless telecommunications systems, with more than 30,000 employees across 36 countries. Nelon also served as Vice President and General Manager with XO Communications. He holds an MBA from the University of Texas.
