Television 2.0 The New Customer & Personalized Content Experience
The television experience has now officially graduated from its status as entertainment king of the living room, to the central component of the entire electronic consumer experience. Television 2.0 has now arrived and it includes telco/cable/satellite with all of the integrated services of PVR, DRV, VOD, Broadband, Wireless, VoIP and Mobile as a communications as well as scalable video provider of clips and updates to movies and full programming. The competition for the future of Television 2.0 has just begun. There will be no immediate winner, and there will probably never be a winner. With 300 million consumers in this country to service and a global market to reach out to, the media, entertainment and technology companies are not competing in a zero sum marketing arena. In this session, we will address these issues and more.

J.D. Zeeman, Director, Digital Media, Global Communications Sector Services, IBM Global Services: J.D. Zeeman is responsible for helping companies to exploit the exciting new technologies of digital media (i.e. audio, video, image). His focus is on telecommunications, media & entertainment and energy & utilities. His global work encompasses strategy, offering development, business development, and leading-edge engagement support. Zeeman's concentration is on innovative implementations of digital media to to address new market opportunities and to fulfill leading-edge client needs. His expertise includes content services (e.g. IPTV, online games), wireless computing, and on demand computing. Within content services, recent concentrations include the enablement of service delivery platforms along with I/T optimization and services assurance. He has been with IBM for more than ten years. He earned a masters degree in business administration from Northwestern University's Kellogg School and a bachelors degree in engineering from Princeton University. He has authored white papers, including publication in two 2006 International Engineering Consortium (IEC) comprehensive reports Delivering on the Promise of IPTV and Achieving the Triple Play: Technologies and Business Models for Success. Zeeman has served as a keynote and panel speaker at industry events including the Broadband and Triple Play Services Conference, Broadband World Forum, Consumer Electronics Show, Digital Hollywood, Future Image Summit, IPTV World Forum, NAB, Parks Associates CONNECTIONS Conference, and TelcoTV.
Ed Graczyk, Director of Marketing and Communications, Microsoft TV Division, Mic rosoft Corporation: As Director of Marketing and Communications for Microsoft Corporations Microsoft TV division, Ed Graczyk is responsible for establishing the company as the leading provider of software that enables network operators, consumer electronics manufacturers, and TV content providers to create and deliver enhanced TV services worldwide. Mr. Graczyk oversees all communications, public relations, branding, positioning, advertising, partner co-marketing and events worldwide for the Microsoft TV family of software products. Prior to moving to the Microsoft TV division, Mr. Graczyk worked in the companies MSN operation, as marketing lead for the award-winning MSN MoneyCentral personal finance service and the MSN Communications Services, where he launched MSN Messenger Service and MSN Web Communities. In 1994, he received the Corporate Account Executive of the Year Award at Microsoft. Prior to joining Microsoft, Mr. Graczyk spent six years with Unisys Corporation, serving in various sales and product management positions with a focus on customers in the banking, securities, and insurance industries. Ed Graczyk holds a bachelor of science degree from the Boston College School of Management, with a triple major in marketing, computer science and economics. He is a frequent speaker at digital TV industry events, including Broadcast Asia, CTAM Research Conference, Digital Hollywood, DigiTrends Camp Interactive, Kagan Interactive TV Summit, IFA Berlin and the PBS Technology Conference. Mr. Graczyk is a member of the Cable and Telecommunications Association for Marketing. James P. Riley: Executive Vice President, TVN Entertainment: As Executive Vice Pres ident for TVN Entertainment, Jim Riley oversees all sales, strategy and business development. His team manages relationships with more than 75 broadcast, cable and VOD networks and with nearly 100 Cable MSOs, Telco Video and IPTV Systems, and DBS providers. In this capacity, Jim is focused on enhancing client partnerships and driving new revenue streams. Additionally, he is responsible for forging strategic alliances with business partners, and establishing VOD services agreements with emerging content and advertising clients. Prior to joining TVN, Jim served as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Guthy-Renker Television Networks, where he established the largest national direct-response advertising platform, reaching over 45 million households. He also forged partnerships to provide mainstream advertising clients with transactional opportunities through the use of "infotainment" formats. An industry veteran of 22-years, Jim has served as Vice President of Affiliate Relations and New Technologies at E! Entertainment Television - where he oversaw distribution and advertising deals with Cable, DBS, and other distribution partners. While at E! Jim also created the CTAM award-winning E! Clips marketing program to drive Pay Per View revenues for E! affiliates. Jim began his television career as a member of the Rainbow Programming Networks Group, a division of Cablevision, directing various sales, business affairs and marketing units. A graduate of New York's Fordham University with a degree in Mass Communications and Philosophy, Riley is a member of NCTA, CAB, and CTAM and has served on numerous boards for cable and regional telecommunications associations.
Greg Schoeny, Director of Video & Entertainment, Cincinnati Bell Inc. Greg is responsible for IPTV strategy & development, DIRECTV, and multi-platform video distribution for Cincinnati Bell Inc. In this role, Greg develops and executes Cincinnati Bells entertainment, integrated communications, and video bundling strategy. Greg has over 10 years experience as a leader in the new media, digital entertainment and multichannel video industries. Prior to Cincinnati Bell, Greg served as the Director of New Media & Interactive Television for On Command Corp. (Liberty Media). On Command is one the largest providers of broadband, VOD, and cable services to hotels & resorts worldwide. Prior to this, Greg was a co-founder of HotelNet.com, the first guest service travel portal for the hospitality industry. Greg is a frequent speaker at multichannel video, Internet, and telecommunications conferences. Greg has a BA in Political Science from Colorado State University, and an MBA from the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver.
Trish Lindsay, Co-Founder and CEO, provides the corporate and creative visio n for Chicago-based Star Farm Productions. Under Trishs leadership, Star Farm (www.starfarmproductions.com), an entertainment company, focuses on the intersection of user-generated content online and mainstream media. Under Trishs direction, Star Farm creates content the way kids consume it simultaneously in all media - and lets kids contribute to the content. Prior to co-founding Star Farm, Trish built the FreeZone Network, the first fully monitored safe online community for kids for the Thomson Company. FreeZone was a pioneer integrating user-generated content with marketing campaigns for Dreamworks, Scholastic, and Kelloggs among others. Lindsay is a sought-after speaker on digital media, grassroots global marketing, safe online communities, and the trials and triumphs of entrepreneurship.
Jeff Shultz, Co-Founder, CEO, CONCERT.TV: An innovator in the cable television spa ce, Jeff Shultz was among the first executives to begin forging relationships in the nascent VOD programming industry. In early 2002 he co-founded CONCERT.TV, one of the nations first VOD television properties and the first television network dedicated to music performance and documentary. Shultz oversees distribution, business development and advertising sales for the network, securing deals with partners such as Comcast, Cox Communications, Cingular, Starbucks and Coca-Cola. Shultz began his career as an attorney at Linklaters in London, UK where he specialized in cross-border mergers and acquisitions and hedge fund management. Shultz then changed paths and delved into business development in the emerging digital media space. As director of business development for NBCi, the online arm of NBC television network, Shultz focused on new media entertainment and e-commerce deals for one of the nations leading broadband Internet portals. Shultz graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science, and from Georgetown University Law Center.
Shahid Khan, Partner, Interactive Broadband Consulting, LLC: Shahid Khan is resp onsible for developing and leading major client engagements, particularly in the Content space, and is also responsible for the firm's PR and Thought Leadership. Shahid is a seasoned Business and Operations Strategist with strong technology underpinnings and expertise in the Media & Entertainment, Telecommunications and Information Technology industries. He is an acclaimed thought leader, who has been focused on the Digital Media and eBusiness for the last decade, as well as on how disruptive technologies such as internet, broadband, IP and mobile are impacting the Media Industry. He has spent his career of managing senior level executive relationships and working with clients to diagnose their strategic, operational and technological issues and develop innovative solutions to address them. Over the course of his career, Shahid has served leading Media firms such as Bertelsmann, Sony BMG, Warner Music Group, Thomson, Viacom, RIAA, etc. Prior to joining IBB Consulting, Shahid was a Managing Director at BearingPoint (formerly KPMG Consulting) in the Media & Entertainment Industry Practice, responsible for leading BearingPoints client relationships and engagements in the Entertainment and Information Services industry segments, and for leading the development of the firms Solutions and Thought Leadership in the Digital Content space. Previously, Shahid was a Client Services Partner at IBM Global Services (IGS), where he led the activities of the various arms of IGS focusing on East Coast based Publishing and Entertainment clients. Shahid has also worked at ZEFER, Deloitte Consulting and McGraw Hill, where he participated in and managed Business Strategy, Process Reengineering and IT projects. Shahid holds an MBA in Marketing and Finance from NYUs Stern School of Business and is a Fellow at U. Penns Wharton School of Business. He has published numerous white-papers and articles on topics pertinent to the Media & Telecoms Industry. He is a frequent speaker at leading industry conferences, often quoted in industry publications. Shahid serves on the Board of two technology firms in the mobile and enterprise software space, as well as non-profit organizations that focus on literacy and entrepreneurship.
