Video on the Internet has finally passed the critical threshold of acceptance by the advertising and marketing communities as a more than viable alternative to traditional media. Internet delivered video has not only entered the advertising space, it has invaded it and in a very short number of years, Internet delivered video will be a dominant entertainment and communications consumer medium. The scary part for traditional media, Internet delivered video may end up on a PC, a mobile device or on a TV and for the advertising and marketing industries, an emerging and maturing delivery system to an ever elusive audience is exactly what they are looking for. Erick Hachenburg, CEO, Metacafe: Erick Hachenburg brings more than 15 years of experience in market creation, global expansion, operations and publishing to his role as Metacafe CEO. Prior to joining Metacafe, Hachenburg was Electronic Arts senior vice president of global online publishing and managing director of EA China. In this role, he developed and led EAs key strategic initiatives, including the companys entry into the digital distribution of retail games, as well as the rapid expansion of EA's Pogo casual games platform and business. He also established EAs online production, operations and publishing capabilities in Asia. Hachenburg joined EA following the companys 2001 acquisition of Pogo.com, the industry leader in the casual games market that Hachenburg founded and built to nearly 1.5 million subscribers. Hachenburg began his career as an intellectual property attorney at Fenwick & West. He holds a JD from Harvard Law School and a BS in Electrical Engineering from University of Illinois.
Tara Walpert, President, Visible World: Tara Walpert is an acknowledged thought le ader in the areas of media, marketing, and client services. She comes to Visible World from McKinsey & Company, where she was an Associate Partner and a leader of the firm's Global Media & Entertainment and Sales & Marketing practices. Over the past decade, Tara has helped a wide range of industry leaders in television, print, direct mail, new media, and retail to develop and implement new approaches to sales, marketing, and CRM based on both traditional capabilities and recent technology-enabled innovations. Prior to McKinsey, Tara worked as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs in New York and as a consultant at The L.E.K. Consulting Group in Boston and London. She has also served as the head of Business Development for iAM.com, an online talent agency, and as a Board Member for Let's Go Publishing, Inc. Tara has an AB in Economics from Harvard University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Kris Jacob is the Executive Vice President of Sales, Business Development and Mark eting at PodShow. With responsibilities for driving PodShows relationships with advertising partners, Jacob has helped PodShow become a premier resource for global advertisers and brands seeking to connect with their audiences through new media and user-generated content. Mr. Jacob is ultimately responsible for PodShows advertising vision and direction, driving its growth as the #1 New Media Network and a social media platform. He has managed this division since PodShow began in 2005, helping to secure PodShows marquee relationships with Apple®, British Telecom, Nokia, TiVo, AMD and others, as well as securing financing from the companys elite private investors, including venture firms Kleiner Perkins, Sequoia Capital, Sherpalo Ventures and DAG Ventures. With Kris Jacob on board, PodShow and its family of brands have become one of the most talked about new media networks in the US and around the world. PodShow provides a global audience of tens of millions with over 1,000,000 hours of audio and video content in 135 categories every month. Kris Jacob brings considerable industry knowledge to his current post at PodShow, including his role in business development at Yahoo! Inc., following the acquisition of Stata Labs, where Jacob was the Vice President of Business Development. At Yahoo!, Jacob negotiated a product licensing agreement with Corel for Bloomba (now WordPerfect Mail 12), the critically-acclaimed search-based email product developed at Stata Labs. Prior to Stata Labs, Jacob was the Vice President of Business Development and Marketing at ActiveSky, where he negotiated media and carrier relationships for the wireless platform provider. Jacobs efforts resulted in such products as FOX Sports Mobile, and Itochu Corporations Excite! Sports in Japan. Prior to ActiveSky, Jacob was the Managing Director of Alterlayer, LLC, an early venture services company, where he provided strategic business development services for 12 early stage companies, including Weave Innovations (acquired by Kodak) and Keen.com (now Ingenio). While in the Strategic Partnerships organization at Microsoft, Jacob created and managed relationships with new media, broadcast and cable companies intersecting in InteractiveTV initiatives. Representing several product initiatives, Jacob created content development and delivery relationships with well known entertainment companies, such as HBO, Showtime, The Weather Channel, MSNBC, CBS, and HGTV.
Stephen Baker, CRO, EveryZing: As EveryZings chief revenue officer, Stephen is responsible for all customer facing activities, including business development, advertising sales, and client services. A veteran of the online search and publishing industry, Stephen joins EveryZing from leadership roles at Reed Elsevier, FAST, and Yahoo. Most recently, Stephen was CEO of RB Search, Reed Elseviers strategic business unit tasked with developing Reeds cross-business global search engine and search marketing platform to support over 1,000 RBI and affiliate sites. At FAST Stephen was VP/General manager responsible for all of FASTs strategic business development initiatives and customer delivery lifecycle. Under Stephens leadership, FASTs revenues grew from $26MM to $129MM over a three year period, and he was a key contributor to FASTs successful $100MM sale of its Web Search business unit to Yahoo.
Tom Wang is the Vice-President of Product for Break.com where he oversees feature s and overall user experience. At Break, Tom has spearheaded a ground-up redesign of Break's innovative new video player, community profiles, and SEO implementation. He has been involved in developing Internet products for more than a decade, including numerous start-ups and Internet media companies such as Spinner, America Online, and Organic. Having launched both web and desktop applications, Tom specializes in product lifecycle, marketing, usability, and consumer products that are (hopefully) both fun and useful. He holds a Masters from Northwestern and a B.A. from University of Pennsylvania.
John Ham is the Founder of Ustream.TV, Inc. where he oversees strategy and oper ations. At Ustream, John focuses his time on business development in the music and entertainment industries. Having been involved in the consumer Internet space for almost a decade, Johns mantra is the user comes first. Specializing in user-experience, product lifecycle, and operations management, John focuses on delivering the best end-user experience. He holds dual-degrees in engineering and business from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Scott Cohen, CEO VideoAdGames and founding Partner in the Red Tie Media Group . Scott is the former President of Game Trust, a leading developer and provider of Internet game software and technology. He is currently serving as advisor to several Internet companies, and spearheading development of a newly funded venture in interactive advertising. Cohen has over 30 years experience in strategic deal making, negotiation and leadership, playing a major role in developing businesses during the growth of the Internet in the US and Europe. He has demonstrated success in both corporate and entrepreneurial environments, most recently in media, interactive marketing, and entertainment. As a co-founder and senior level executive, Cohen was critical to the success of two IPO's over the past nine years: LivePerson (NASDAQ: LPSN), and 24/7 Media (NASDAQ: TFSM). Together with the senior management team, he worked to raise more than $150 million from the public markets and private investors for affiliated companies (combined market cap at IPO over $700 million). Cohen has worked with the most senior executives in a variety of leading companies, including New World Communications Group, MacAndrews & Forbes Holdings, Revlon, Marvel, Coopers & Lybrand, Harris Interactive, SixDegrees, ShopNow, HCD Market Research, and many others. Cohen began his career in real estate and opened his own firm in 1981. In the late 1980's, he founded a network of commercial real estate affiliates. Metropolitan Asset Corp. grew to encompass over forty major US cities, handling multi-million dollar transactions, including hotels, shopping malls, office complexes and other investment sales, appraisals and work-outs. Cohen earned his Masters in Business Administration in 1988 from the University of Rochester, William Simon School of Business, after ten years of professional experience. Cohen currently serves on the Board of Directors for Double Trump, LeadFusion, and Active Response Group.
