Kate Purmal, General Manager and SVP of Digital Content Solutions, SanDisk: Kate Purmal is General Manager and SVP of Digital Content Solutions for SanDisk (a large public tech company with an $11-billion market cap). Prior to joining SanDisk in January 2007, she was CEO if U3, and also oversaw the development of the USBTV forum, an organization dedicated to solving the challenges of moving TV content from the PC to the TV. She has more than 20 years of computer industry experience as an entrepreneur, corporate executive and independent consultant. Prior to USBTV, her successful management consulting business landed her in roles at Adobe, CBS MarketWatch, Hewlett-Packard, Intuit, Palm and Handspring, and dozens of start-ups. Kate was a founding member of palmOne (formerly Palm Computing), where she built and ran the product marketing and strategic alliance organizations. She helped palmOne launch its platform and successful developer community which now boasts hundreds of thousands of developers. In addition, Kate has held senior roles in marketing, product marketing, business development, sales, and engineering at Interleaf, Grid Systems, and Computer Associates. Kate holds a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from the University of California in San Diego. Kate is an expert on consumer behavior and preferences, as well as new consumer tech solutions re: TV and other forms of video content. SanDisk has done lots of focus groups, including with partners such as CBS. Kate can speak to the future of digital content and associated advertising models (that are on the horizon), as well as forthcoming, innovative consumer electronics that bridge the content gap and solve the existing challenges of today’s TV and video content provider

Sara DeWitt, Senior Director, PBS KIDS & Parents Interactive, PBS, pbskids.org / pbskidsgo.org / pbsparents.org: Sara DeWitt oversees day-to-day development of PBS’ Internet sites for kids, parents, and families, including the Webby-award winning pbskids.org. She joined PBS Interactive in 1999 and has worked with producers on a variety of award-winning television program sites, such as Cyberchase, Dragon Tales, and ZOOM. During her tenure at PBS, Ms. DeWitt has helped develop and expand PBS KIDS content on the Internet and served on the team that developed PBS KIDS GO!, a television and Internet block for kids between the ages of 6 and 9. In addition to television companion sites, Ms. DeWitt has overseen production of nationally-recognized Internet-original projects on PBS KIDS GO!, such as It’s My Life and EekoWorld. She has presented at conferences including the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) annual meetings, the Public Library Association national conference, MediaWeek’s Interactive Media Conference, eTV World, and the annual Ready To Learn professional development seminars. Ms. DeWitt has also served on the jury for the Prix Jeunesse International Web prize. Before coming to PBS KIDS, Ms. DeWitt worked as a field researcher studying leadership opportunities and media habits of children in rural United States for the Stanford University Spencer Project for Youth and Families. She also co-authored with Dr. Shirley Brice Heath a study for the Poynter Institute on Youth and Newspapers. She holds both a BA and an MA in English from Stanford University, and a certificate from Stanford’s Children, Society, and Public Policy program.

Jodie McAfee, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and Marketing,
The Media Group (formerly Turner Media Group): McAfee is responsible for corporate development and marketing at The Media Group, the leading provider of interactive, transactional media for TV advertising and programming in the United States and responsible for more than a quarter billion dollars in TV ad sales. McAfee’s marketing duties extend to TMG’s eight, owned-and-operated, targeted transactional TV channels, such as Men’s Outdoors & Recreation. He’s also spearheaded some of the first iTV ad campaigns with major advertisers like Mercedes and Sony Pictures. Prior to TMG, McAfee served as managing partner at Cayde & Associates where he was responsible for the development and distribution of niche broadband video channels. Previously, McAfee served as vice president of Worldwide Marketing for Crown Media International, parent of The Hallmark Channel’s international arm, where he was responsible for all affiliate and consumer marketing and public relations initiatives. He has also held positions at Soundbite Communications and Columbia Tri-Star Television.

Bryan Biniak, Founder & CEO, Jacked: Founder & CEO Bryan Biniak is a seasoned entrepreneur who has held C-level positions at his last four companies, successfully establishing consistent year-over-year revenue growth and/or selling them at a premium. Bryan is founder and CEO of Jacked, Inc. as well as founder and Managing Director of Provenance Ventures. Most recently, Bryan served as SVP and general manager of AG Interactive at American Greetings Corporation (NYSE), overseeing its mobile, instant messaging, email and social communications business units. Bryan has experience launching leading mobile brands including Univision Movil, SI Mobile, Def Jam Mobile and Blue Mountain Mobile, growing the company’s mobile business to $18 million in net revenue in less than two years. Prior to AG, Bryan served as COO and EVP of sales and marketing for Vivendi Universal's wireless subsidiary Moviso, building and operating mobile media publishing platforms for Verizon, Cingular, T-Mobile, Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, Match.com, Universal Music Group and Sony Music, among others. Bryan also served as COO of YourMobile and Premium Wireless Services, where he led the company’s sale to Vivendi Universal. He founded and served as CEO of China-based MusicZone. He was also a founding member and VP of MIT Media Lab spin-off Harmonix, developer of popular video games Guitar Hero and Rock Band, which was sold to MTV for more than $175 million.

Benjamin Ezrick, Senior Strategist, Digital Innovation, Ogilvy Interactive, New York: Benjamin has been influential in defining interactive video advertising on television and online. He is responsible for the application of emerging technologies, such as gaming, mobile and advanced television at Ogilvy in his role as senior strategist of digital innovation. He is determined to deliver television advertisers the measurability and accountability that they have found online. In a first for the industry, Benjamin managed a television campaign implemented, tracked and optimized over the internet. His desire to digitize traditional media comes from his years of experience in online media planning. Prior to joining Ogilvy, Benjamin worked on grass roots marketing campaigns in support of Ben & Jerry’s, Palm and Polaroid. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in International Relations.






Mollie Spilman, Chief Executive Officer, TidalTV: Mollie has spent 17 years in the media business, most recently serving as the Chief Sales & Marketing Officer of Advertising.com, a subsidiary of AOL. Prior to Advertising.com, Mollie held roles at leading media companies including Discovery Communications where she was the Director of Ad Sales Marketing, Phase2Media where she was the Vice President of Affiliate Sales and Meredith Corporation where she was the Director of Sales Development of their flagship publication, Better Homes & Gardens. Mollie began her career at Time Inc’s PEOPLE Weekly where she spent nearly seven years in marketing and sales development roles.











James Glasscock, Former Vice President, Video-on-Demand, Playboy Entertainment Group. Mr. Glasscock is currently an independent new ventures consultant, with over a decade of experience in social networking, television and multiplatform media. In his most recent role as Vice President, Video-on-Demand at Playboy, Glasscock managed all aspects of the company's transaction and subscription VOD operations. He architected internal company workflows and worked closely with transport and cable affiliates to drive strong performance across all of Playboy's On Demand offerings. Prior to joining Playboy, Glasscock was Director of Business Development at Turner Broadcasting System where he played a key role in product development and content distribution for the Turner and CNN brands across Internet, Cable iTV/VOD and Mobile Wireless platforms. Prior to Turner, he was Director of New Ventures Research for Los Angeles based Zone Ventures and an Associate in KPMG's Digital Media Incubator. Glasscock earned his B.A. in Accounting from the University of San Diego and served 5 years of active duty in the U.S. Navy. He is currently a member of the Cable Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM) and the On Demand Consortium.


Allison Dollar is a founder and co-president of the Interactive Television Alliance, a non-profit trade association whose broad constituency is committed to accelerating iTV in the U.S. She is also a principal in 2degree Partners, a management consultancy focused on iTV, specializing in alliance packaging, cross-platform marketing and digital services integration. A longtime champion of ubiquitous interactivity, she co-founded eTV World, Hollyweb Live!, iNNOVATORS™ venture pitch series, and chaired NAB’s Executive Committee to launch Multimedia World. Clients have included IBM’s eBusiness (American Express, Bell Atlantic, Mail Boxes Etc.), AOL, SimplyTV, Web TV, WB, Creative Planet, Stan Lee Media, Vi[z]Rt (virtual sets), and Envivio (MPEG-4). For Webcasts.com she was CSO and a founding board member (IPO as iBEAM Internet Broadcasting Corp). Previously, for Phillips Business Information she led business/content development with over 30 trade publications. Titles included Interactive Video News, Interactive Marketing News, Internet Week, CableFAX, Multimedia Week, E-Commerce News, Film & Video Magazine, A/V Video magazine, Via Satellite. While Editorial Director of In Motion she created sponsor packages with Sony, SGI, PacBell, Autodesk, AOL, HBO, Kodak and Sprint. These anticipated the impact of 3D visual effects, advertainment, DBS, broadband, VOD and wireless devices. She worked with Oscar-nominee documentarian Ross Spears, CBS News, the Maryland Film Commission. A founding board member of Maryland’s WIFV, she received ASAE’s Golden Circle award, held advisory board positions for CINE and the US Film&Video Festival. She holds a M.A. from the University of Virginia and Phi Beta Kappa B.A. from Goucher College in Baltimore, and has been interviewed by National Public Radio, LA Times, Wall Street Journal, Hot Wired, Hollywood Reporter, Variety, BizTalk1, Millimeter, Digitrends, Broadcasting & Cable and other outlets. Her book on iTV, Interactive Television: Tracking and Preparing for an Emerging Market, was released in April 2003.
