He joined Williams Communications in 1996 as director of marketing and product development for Williams Vyvx Services and has since served in a variety of roles encompassing marketing, engineering and customer care. In his current role as vice president of emerging markets, Onyszchuk is leading a group to develop business plans and customer solutions using Vyvx Broadband Media's MediaXtranet, a new infrastructure and set of capabilities that enables Williams Communications' video customers to derive new value from their media content. Onyszchuk began his career in 1985 at Bell Canada in the Technology Development group, developing and standardizing tools, test sets and procedures for fiber optic cable installation and maintenance. He moved to Ottawa in 1989 to a planning and standards role at Telecom Canada, and then led the Broadcast Services Technology and Service Development team at Stentor. During that time, the team standardized the Nortel DV-45 codec, developed and launched the VideoRoute occasional television service, and in 1993, formed an alliance with Vyvx Inc. to provide Canada-US occasional and dedicated television transmission services. He moved to a marketing and business planning role in Data and Integrated Services at Stentor in 1993, and then joined Nortel in early 1995, where he performed business development and strategic marketing for the Nortel Magellan ATM switch product line.Sebastian Holst, Vice President Marketing, Artesia Technologies: As the Vice Preside nt of Marketing for Artesia Technologies, Sebastian provides overall strategic direction for all of the company's marketing initiatives, including product marketing, channel marketing, corporate communications, strategic alliances and advertising. Prior to joining Artesia Technologies, Sebastian was Vice President of Strategic Marketing for Inso Corporation. At Inso, he led both strategic and product direction for a suite of content management, asset management, and electronic publishing products for the Internet. In his 15 years in the commercial software industry, Sebastian has held general management, product management, business development, and engineering positions for DBMS, 4GL, and even biotech companies.Satish Menon, Ph.D., Vice President of R&D and Chief Technology Officer, Kasenna: Satish Menon brings to Kasenna a track record of technical innovation and a long history with br oadband media technologies. Recognizing the emergence of the broadband video marketplace, Satish successfully lobbied for the formation of Kasenna as an independent software company and played a pivotal role in the spin-off from SGI. At Kasenna, he has been leading the creation of the IP video delivery platform, including bringing his knowledge of broadband video issues to content delivery architectures. Prior to the formation of Kasenna, Satish was the Director of Engineering of SGI's Software Technology Group where he spearheaded the development of SGI's award- winning media serving software and digital asset management platform. Satish's experience in broadband media serving extends back to the mid-1990's with his involvement in the broadband interactive television trials conducted by Time Warner, and SGI. Before SGI, Satish led Georgia Institute of Technologys Laboratory for Distributed Computer Systems Research where his team of researchers built a pioneering distributed shared-memory operating system on a network of workstations ("Clouds Distributed Operating System"). Prior to his work at Georgia Tech, Satish was a member of technical staff at AT&T Bell-Labs UNIX Kernel Group in New Jersey where we worked on the UNIX I/O sub system, STREAMS and SunOS/SVR4.0 merger. In December 2000, Satish, representing Kasenna, helped found the Internet Streaming Media Alliance to forward the adoption of open standards for streaming. He now serves on the board of directors for the Alliance together with representatives from other founding companies Apple, Cisco, IBM, Philips and Sun Microsystems. Satish earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Georgia Tech, his MSCS and MSME from New Jersey Institute of Technology and his BSME from University of Calicut, India. |
