Alex Barkaloff, Executive Producer, Digital Media, LIONSGATE: As Executive Producer for Digital Media at Lionsgate, Alex Barkaloff is responsible for developing high-impact mobile entertainment, applications, games and communities from the companys 12,000 film library and hit TV shows as Weeds, Mad Men, Crash and Fear Itself. Additionally, he oversees original digital productions, especially those that can be cross-developed for filmed entertainment and TV. Prior to Lionsgate, Alex created media-based mobile applications for musical artists, graphic novels and dramatic, horror and comedy projects with such companies as UCP Morgen/qPass, Nellymoser, and mobile operators including T-Mobile, Telefonica, Belgacom, Era Poland and handset makers including Nokia. An entrepreneur and venture capitalist, Alex founded GlobalNet Ventures in San Francisco in 1998 and ArtistOne, an online digital music distributor. His enterprise experience ranges from Oracle to PSION (UK) to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory/NASA.
David Frerichs, Strategic Consultant, Pioneer Electronics: An expert in mobile services, digital content delivery, and IP licensing, David Frerichs is a strategic consultant to Pioneer Electronics and President of Media Tuners. Prior to, Frerichs was EVP of Strategic Marketing and Corporate Development at SRS Labs, where he initiated their expansion from television into mobile. At Coding Technologies, he started their USA subsidiary and crafted their mobile success in Japan, Korea, and the USA. Strong adoption of Coding Technologies' MPEG-4 HE AAC audio in these markets played its part in the eventual acquisition of Coding Technologies by Dolby Laboratories in 2007 for $250M. Earlier, as Founder, President, and CTO at iM Networks, he led the curve in 1999 with broadband appliances, content aggregation, and targeted ad insertion, including the development and release of the world's first Internet radio appliance with Philips. Frerichs holds a BS degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois in Urbana/Champaign.
Darren Cross, Head of Business Development, Fandango/Comcast Interactive Media: Based in Los Angeles, Cross focuses on developing strategic partnerships for Fandango, the nations leading moviegoer destination, and Movies.com, one of the webs top entertainment sites. Cross has been instrumental in extending the brands to new platforms, including mobile, set-top boxes, and other consumer electronics devices. Recently, he has been involved in developing Fandangos mobile application strategy including applications for both the Apple iPhone and the Palm Pre. Before joining Fandango, Cross was Vice President of Acquisitions and Business Development at ClickStar, a joint venture between Intel and Morgan Freemans Revelations Entertainment, created to deliver first-run theatrical and home entertainment product to consumers via the open Internet. Prior to ClickStar, he was an associate equities analyst at Wedbush Morgan Securities, focusing on the internet and digital media sectors, including web retailers, video game publishers and digital marketing firms. Cross holds a JD from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, an MBA from UCLA's Anderson School of Management, and a BA in Economics from CSU Northridge. Cross is a member of the State Bar of California.
Mike Breslin, VP Marketing, Glu: As Glu's Vice President of Marketing, Breslin is responsible for developing and delivering global marketing strategy, product management and marketing communications. With 15+ years of experience, Breslin has successfully led the development, marketing and communications programs for some of the video game industry's most prolific and best selling PC, console, mobile, iPhone and iPad titles. Prior to joining the glu team in 2010, Breslin held several high-level marketing positions including Vice President, Marketing and Corporate Communications at Oberon Media and I-play, Global Brand Manager at Mattel, and Global Brand and Licensing Manager at Disney Interactive Studios. He has worked on a who's who of video games franchises including the Doom series, Duke Nukem, Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil, 24 The Game, The Fast & The Furious and Bubble Town. Breslin currently sits on the advisory board for the Casual Games Association. Born in Los Angeles, California and raised in Dallas, TX, Breslin attended the University of Texas at Austin.
Howard Tiersky is CEO of Moving Interactive Inc, a design, technology and consulting firm focused on the development of new products for the digital world. With a team of over 100 professionals on four continents, Moving Interactive works with some of the world's leading media brands such as Universal Studios, Readers Digest, Conde Nast, Moodys and Bloomberg on the launch of their new digital products. Moving Interactive also provides platforms to accelerate the creation of social applications, web sites and mobile applications, including GuideMapp a revolutionary cloud-based offering for creating and updating iPhone and Android Apps extremely rapidly. Prior to "taking the leap" to found his own company in early 2008, Howard was Vice President, Media & Entertainment in Capgemini's consulting practice where he worked with media clients such as NBC, McGraw-Hill, Turner and Sprint on digital media strategy and implementation. Howard also led Capgemini's interactive practice for many years and was responsible for numerous customer-facing eCommerce efforts for many Fortune 500 brands such as Office Depot, Sears, Merrill Lynch, General Motors, American Express and Allstate. Howard has also created a number of independent digital media brands including SnideTV which has driven over 5 million views of its political satire animations such as "George Bush Job Interviews" and "Paris Hilton Prison Diaries." Most recently his work has been a bit more wholesome with the launch of CraftClub.com, a rich media crafting site for kids 3-11, and ShelfLifeAdvice.com, a food expiration reference site, which was recently featured on the home pages of Yahoo! and MSNBC. Howard has also recently served on the adjunct faculty of the Interactive Telecommunications Program at the the NYU film school.
Steve Bradbury, Vice President, GoTV Networks: Steve Bradbury is an innovative senior executive with over 16 years of experience across the digital media spectrum. Steve's core value is his ability to optimize and close deals. His career has spanned strategy, business development, business affairs, operations & marketing in both entrepreneurial and corporate environments. For the past 4_ years, Steve has been the VP, Content Strategy & Business Affairs for GoTV Networks, the premiere mobile media network in the US. GoTVs programming is accessible in streaming and on-demand formats via carriers (Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Alltel, Virgin + int'l carriers), application storefronts (iPhone, Android, Blackberry, WinMo) and online (You Tube, MySpace, Daily Motion, MSN, etc). Steve has also monetized assets for companies such as Sony, The Improvisation, Engage Games Online, Openwave/IBM and Proprietary Media among many others. His corporate experience includes tenures at MGM Worldwide Television and Universal/MCA TV. Steve is on the CES Content Advisory Council, moderates panels at major conferences (Digital Hollywood, NATPE, CTIA, etc), speaks to visiting executives (CCTV, Korean Broadcasting), is a board member of the Syracuse University Alumni Association and has led the Hollywood & Digital program at UCLA Extension.
