The current generation mobile device has set a new threshold of design, elegance and features that all future mobile devices will be compared to. The Mobile Platform 2.0 is now the Smartphone Platform, and it will no longer be acceptable to the consumer as anything less perfect. It must be a perfect lifestyle device, a phone, a texting and email machine with full information and entertainment accessibility. The next generation of mobile devices have forever raised the bar for what all future mobile platforms must aspire to. In this session, we will address the Smartphone platform – the features, the network capabilities and consumer expectations.

Alain Mutricy, Senior Vice President, Portfolio and Device Product Management, Motorola, Inc.: As Senior Vice President, Product Management, within Motorola’s Mobile Devices business, Alain Mutricy leads a global team responsible for the definition and life cycle management of the portfolio of handset devices. This includes responsibility for defining the c
ore value propositions for product families, understanding the economics and customer needs, and ensuring that overall product category offerings are successful in target markets. Prior to this role, Mutricy drove strategic mobile software and chipsets selection and development, that help to enable differentiated mobile experiences -- including Motorola's industry-leading efforts in Linux for mobile. Before joining Motorola in 2007, Alain Mutricy spent over 18 years with Texas Instruments where he held key leadership roles designing, developing and delivering chipsets for the wireless handset market. Most recently, Mutricy served as Vice President and General Manager of the Cellular Systems Solutions organization with responsibility for TI’s standard cellular product business -- including platform strategy, new product development and marketing and key partner and customer relationships. He directed TI’s OMAP™ and OMAP-Vox™ wireless chipsets platforms delivering voice and multimedia-enhanced applications for 2.5G and 3G wireless devices, as well as TI’s leading Locosto and eCosto single chip cell phone platforms. Mutricy received a master’s degree in business administration at HEC Paris, graduating cum laude. He also holds a master’s degree in engineering from ENSAM in Paris.

George Linardos, Vice President, Products, Media & Games, NOKIA: As
VP Products for Nokia’s Media & Games group, George Linardos is responsible for product management, development and marketing of Nokia’s content services, including Ovi Store, a global distribution channel live on over 75 handsets with a user base from over 200 countries. Prior to his current role, George was Director of Business Development & Marketing. In this role, he co-founded and served as the general manager of Nokia’s integrated web and mobile platform for the global distribution and sharing of user-generated mobile content, MOSH. At Nokia, George also served as Head of Branded Content & Aggregators where he was responsible for driving global business development efforts and alliances with major media and entertainment companies. Prior to Nokia, George formed and ran the Digital Media division of HSI Productions Inc., one of the largest television commercial and music video production companies in the world.






Michael Boord, Acting Global Director of Mobile, The Associated Press: Michael Boord is AP's Acting Global Director of Mobile where he is responsible for advancing the award-winning AP Mobile platform as well as developing new mobile products leveraging the AP’s vast content collections across multiple platforms. AP was the first to debut a dedicated iPhone news application in June 2008, offering AP’s own worldwide coverage of breaking news, sports, entertainment, politics and business as well as content from more than 1,000 AP members and third-party sources. Since its launch in May 2008, AP Mobile was named the “Best in News” mobile application by The New York Times, a Top 10 iPhone App for 2008 by Time Magazine, and was nominated for a Webby Award. Prior to joining AP, Boord was vice president of operations for Thinking Pictures, an interactive company specializing in multimedia solutions. He was also director of Thinking Pictures Asia Ltd., based in Singapore, where he was responsible for global business development, strategy and operations.



Jonathan Barzilay, SVP Programming & Advertising, FLO TV Inc: Jonathan Barzilay is senior vice president of programming and advertising for MediaFLO USA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Qualcomm, Inc. He is responsible for leading MediaFLO USA’s business in the areas of programming strategy, content acquisition and development, production, advertising, and consumer research. Based in MediaFLO USA’s Los Angeles office, he is also responsible for managing relationships with content partners and the creative community. Prior to joining MediaFLO USA, Barzilay served as senior vice president and general manager of entertainment for CBS Interactive. In that role, he oversaw the online entertainment business for CBS, including the CBS.com and StarTrek.com websites. Previously, Barzilay served as senior vice president of Disney/ABC Cable Networks, and general manager of Toon Disney and ABC Kids. In that role, he oversaw all operations at both Toon Disney, a
cable network, and ABC Kids, the children’s programming lineup on ABC-TV. During the course of his 15-year career at Disney/ABC, he held numerous management posts, including vice president and general manager, ABC Children’s Programming, and vice president, ABC Television Network Group. As a member of ABC’s legal department, he counseled ABC News and ABC Broadcasting on legal and regulatory matters. He began his career as an attorney in private practice in New York, focusing on entertainment law and First Amendment matters. Barzilay is a graduate of Harvard College and Columbia Law School. Steve West, Emerging Technology & Media, Alcatel-Lucent: is based in Ottawa, Canada. Mr. West has a lengthy resume of real-world experience in IPTV and video centric service development, marketing and strategy dating back to the early 90’s. Mr. West is an Alcatel-Lucent Strategy lead responsible for North American activities related to Alcatel-Lucent’s “multi-screen” strategy. Prior to Alcatel-Lucent’s acquisition of iMagicTV in 2003, Mr. West was Director of Product Management, Media Manager IPTV platform. Prior to iMagicTV, Mr. West was responsible for consumer broadband services development and marketing, including the world’s first commercial launch of a consumer mass market IPTV service at Aliant Telecom, Atlantic Canada’s largest telecom service provider. Mr. West holds a Diploma in Marketing and International business from St. Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia and a Diploma in Electronic Engineering Technology from DeVry Institute in Toronto, Ontario.




Jim Eadie is Vice President of Digital Distribution for MTV Networks. In his role, Eadie
is responsible for developing content distribution strategies across mobile platforms and cultivating distribution deals with mobile operators, aggregators and emerging media platforms across MTV Networks' diverse brands, including: CMT, COMEDY CENTRAL, Logo, MTV, Nickelodeon, The N, Spike and VH1, among others. Based in the company's New York City headquarters, Eadie reports to Alice Kim, Senior Vice President of Digital Distribution & Partner Relations for MTV Networks. Most recently, Eadie served as Director of Business Development and Strategy for the MTV Networks Entertainment Group, which includes Comedy Central, Spike, TV Land, Gametrailers and Atom Films. In that role, Eadie led the targeting and analysis of acquisition targets, managed long-term financial planning and drove strategic initiatives, such as the launch of Spike HD. Prior to joining MTV Networks in 2006, Eadie served as an Associate in the Time Warner Corporate Strategic Planning Group and held a succession of Corporate Development and Corporate Strategy roles at AOL. He began his career as an investment banker at Alex.Brown as a financial analyst in the Technology Group. Jim holds an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and a B.A. in Economics from Stanford University.

Albert B. Chu, Vice President, Marketing & Alliances, ACCESS Systems America
s, Inc.: Albert Chu is responsible for developing business and marketing alliances on behalf of ACCESS CO., LTD. with leading companies in the telecommunications, consumer electronics and media industries. As VP, Marketing & Alliances, he drives the ACCESS Connect Ecosystem partner program, a global ecosystem of companies that are setting the market direction for innovative converged technologies and solutions developed by ACCESS and its partners. In addition, Chu is responsible for the marketing operations for ACCESS Systems Americas. Chu came to ACCESS from PalmSource, where he was vice president of business development. From 1996 to 2002, Chu was the business development vice president at AT&T Labs, where he brought emerging technologies to market. In addition, he headed the OneComm Project Office, overseeing the product management, research and development, operations and business development of a suite of unified communications services for AT&T business units and external service providers From 1982 to 1996, Chu was at Apple Computer, where his last position was vice president of corporate marketing alliances. His earlier responsibilities at Apple included product planning and strategy vice president in the Personal Interactive Electronics Division, marketing vice president in the New Media and Entertainment Division, and Japan business development director in Apple Pacific. He was responsible for the product marketing and product introduction teams for dozens of Apple's key products, including the Apple III, Newton, and Apple's localized products for the Japanese and Asia Pacific market. Chu has a degree in mechanical engineering from Stanford University and completed the Advanced Executive Program at Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Jim Beddows, Vice President for Business Development, The Americas, 2ergo Inc.: Jim Beddows has been creating new businesses, business models and content in the new media space (CD-Rom, Console, Online, Mobile) for the last fourteen years. Presently, Jim is Vice President for Business Development for the Americas for 2ergo Inc, a mobile marketing and technology company providing global B2C and B2B solutions to drive customer acquisition, retention, upsell, purchase frequency and loyalty. Prior to that, he was Head of Content and Application Partnerships for MSN Mobile which launched in 2007 and quickly ramped to 20 million off-deck unique users in the US and has gone live in 17 international markets. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Mobile Entertainment at 20th Century Fox where he saw the mobilization of Fox's most iconic TV and theatrical properties including Family Guy; X Files; Buffy The Vampire Slayer; 24; America's Most Wanted; Aliens; The Day After Tomorrow; I, Robot; Fight Club; Predator; Independence Day; & Fox's Marilyn Monroe movies. Jim also was one of the first in the mobile industry to launch an entertainment property based on an ongoing story arc, doing so with The Simpsons which was distributed into 13 of Vodafone's international markets. Before Fox, Jim was Director of Global Business Development at Disney where he put in place the business relationship with the founder of Square, Masafumi Miyamoto, to launch Disney's first broadband offering in 2001. Jim started with Disney in Tokyo where he was the Managing Director for Disney Interactive Asia and as such established the Disney Interactive brand throughout Asia across multiple platforms, launched Disney's first mobile services in 1998 in Japan with NTT DoCoMo and established the relationship with Square Soft which lead to the creation of the console franchise Kingdom Hearts. Before Disney, Jim was Regional Director for Planning & Finance for PepsiCo based in Hong Kong. Jim has a MBA from Darden and a MA in East Asian Studies from the University of Virginia. He resides in Los Angeles and was elected as board chair for MEF Americas (<http://www.m-e-f.org>www.m-e-f.org <http://www.m-e-f.org/><http://www.m-e-f.org> ) for two terms and was named in 2008 and 2009 as one of the top 50 mobile executives by Mobile Entertainment for both the USA and International.
