Peter Berger, President and CEO, Suite101.com: Peter grew up in Hamburg (Germany), and worked in Berlin before he moved to beautiful Vancouver, Canada. Prior to joining Suite101 in April 2006, he worked as a business strategy consultant at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) for clients across Europe. With him onboard Suite101, the heart of strategy will always be giving both readers and writers a fun time satisfying their curiosity.
Ted May, SVP of Strategy and Business Affairs at Synacor, joined the company in July 2005 as VP of Content. Ted joined Syancor directly from AOL where he held the position of VP Broadband. Prior to AOL, Ted served as Director of Strategic Planning and VP of New Media at Cablevision Systems Corp., and as a VP in the Controllers Division at Drexel Burnham Lambert, Inc. Ted also served as the Associate Director of Business Planning and Development at CBS Broadcasting, Inc. He holds a BFA from The Julliard School and a MBA from NYU.
Gary Baker, Founder/CEO, ClipBlast!: Founder and CEO Gary Baker has focused his 20-year career on the intersection of the web, television, and interactive media. Gary is CEO of ClipBlast!, which he founded in 2004. With a focus on broadband, the Web and multimedia, Gary oversees the company's video search technologies, distribution strategies, business development, and operations. Gary Baker previously served as a Management Consultant with IBM Interactive Media, leading Internet strategy, real-time events, live Webcasts and Web application development for some of IBM's largest clients and live-event sponsorships, including Olympics, Wimbledon, US Open Tennis, The Grammys, Hertz, Toyota, CompUSA, PGA Tour, and many more. Gary was strategic in growing IBM Interactive Media into a $400 million operation, which included building six Interactive Media studio operations in the US, including the flagship location in Santa Monica, CA. Gary also consulted and provided strategic direction to CinemaNow, Inc., the first Web property to offer video-on-demand. ClipBlast! is Gary 's second Web start-up; in 1995 he founded and later sold Catalog Site, an early e-commerce pioneer, in 1997.
Brendan Condon, Chief Executive Officer, REVShare: Brendan Condon comes to REVShare with over 25 years of global media experience across the Time Warner organization specializing in media monetization. As a senior vice president for AOL and the managing director for the companys London-based international advertising divisions, he led a team of 500+ employees across 10 European countries and Japan. Mr. Condon is an industry-leading executive who has specialized in all aspects of media including Video, Web Display, Mobile, and Ad Serving, - across portals, 3rd party ad networks, vertical publishing houses, social networks and emerging technologies. His background includes extensive experience in strategic prospecting, evaluating, and acquiring or partnering with companies of scale across varying media sectors. Mr. Condon has an MBA from Columbia University specializing in Finance and holds a BS in Mathematics from St John's University. He is a key note speaker at multiple industry conferences and events across US, Europe and Asia; most recently member of the Leadership Council for the EU Internet Advertising Bureau as well as active memberships with the IAB UK, EIAA, among many other leading industry bodies.
Chase Norlin is the CEO of AlphaBird, a leader in online video syndication, and has spent the last 15 years in the Internet industry as an entrepreneur and distribution executive. Prior to AlphaBird, Mr. Norlin was the founder and CEO of Pixsy, a pioneer in syndicated video search funded by TVGuide-Gemstar (now Rovi - NASDAQ:ROVI). Previously he served as a senior executive at ValueClick (NASDAQ:VCLK) where he managed publisher distribution for the display advertising network, paid search, and comparison shopping divisions. Prior to ValueClick, Mr. Norlin held the position of Senior Consultant to InfoSpace (NASDAQ:INSP) charged with publisher distribution for the paid search division. Previously, Mr. Norlin developed Sony's first online photo sharing venture and founded the web's first online video sharing company ShareYourWorld. Mr. Norlin also served as a new venture consultant in launching Boeing's (NYSE:BA) online video and image licensing division. Mr. Norlin began his career in the media business in the mailroom at Paradigm Talent and Literary Agency. Mr. Norlin serves on the advisory boards of EgoTVOnline, AdBidCentral, Kerosene and a Match, PickupPal and Adgregate Markets. Additionally, he serves as Chair of the Video Committee at the Internet Content Syndication Council. He received his BA from UC Berkeley and MA from The University of Chicago and is a regular speaker on video syndication, online advertising, and search. Recent speaking engagements include the Goldman Sachs 9th Annual Global Media Conference, NATPE, NAB, ad:tech, and PubCon.
Nick DeMartino provides strategic consultative services for creative companies and individuals in film, digital media, technology, nonprofit management, philanthropy and the arts, drawing upon his decades of leadership and collaboration in the unfolding digital media revolution in Hollywood as a senior executive at the American Film Institute, where he was a senior executive from 1990 through June, 2010. As Senior Vice President, DeMartino was responsible for strategic direction for AFIs senior management team and Board of Trustees, with an emphasis on new technologies and their impact on filmmaking and the media arts. He was responsible for securing more than $23 million of funding to support the institution and its programs, many of which he developed and managed, including the AFI Digital Content Lab, the AFI Screen Education Center, AFI.com, the AFIApple Computer Center, AFI Computer Media Salons. He created and managed AFI participation in distance learning (fathom.com) and Internet VOD (intertainer.com), and managed collaborations and sponsorships with many companies, among them the major film and television studios, Apple, Microsoft, Intel, Adobe, Sun, Turner, CPB, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Baseline, Hitachi, ProQuest, and many others. DeMartino has been named #3 on the Hollywood Reporter/PGAs Digital 50 list of leaders in technology. The Los Angeles Business Journal named DeMartino a leader in the technology industry in 1995, and one of 20 leaders in broadband technology in 1999. Earlier in his career, DeMartino was a documentary filmmaker, advertising executive, and journalist. He is the author of several books on new technology and is an award-winning documentary television producer. He was founder of the Washington Community Video Center and TeleVISIONS Magazine and a consultant to television stations and production companies focusing on new technologies. As principal staff writer for the Carnegie Commission on the Future of Public Broadcasting, he authored their report, a followup study called Keeping PACE with the New Television, and a groundbreaking study of independent production within the public TV system, which recommended the creation of a Fund for Independent Television, prototype for ITVS. He was the recipient of the INDIE award from ITVS for service to independent producers in 1977. DeMartino graduated with a BA from the University of Louisville and an MA in Media Studies at Antioch College.
