Evan Young is Director of Broadband Services at TiVo Inc., where he is responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of broadband applications, content, and services. He has extensive experience in broadcast, broadband, and consumer services, and has edited books on digital video recording and digital home audio recording and production. Evan has an MBA from Stanford University and a BA from Harvard University. While at Stanford, Evan was the founder of "The Future of Entertainment", an annual business and technology conference about media convergence.
Amy Friedlander Hoffman, President, Priority Digital Media: Amy Friedlander-Hoffman currently runs Priority Digital Media, a strategic consulting practice focused on content and distribution strategy across TV, broadband and mobile. Engagements include digital media strategy, entitlement of content across multiple platforms, broadband and cable content distribution, IPTV, VOD, rich media on-line advertising and software solutions for multiplatform content delivery and management. Most recently, Amy was the Senior Vice President, Programming for AT&T Operations. As AT&T entered the video market to compete with cable and satellite, Amy oversaw the interactive programming and convergence for Project Lightspeed, the initiative to expand the fiber-optics network deeper into neighborhoods to deliver AT&T U-verse TV, AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet, U-verse Enabled and voice over IP services. Amy was ultimately responsible for AT&Ts broadband programming, which included overseeing all online content negotiation and licensing, and execution of AT&T's broadband and three screen content plans for AT&Ts online services. Such services included Blue Room, Homezone, Broadband TV, U-verse OnTheGo and others. Preceding AT&T, Ms. Friedlander-Hoffman headed a consulting practice, Xanthum Partners, which helped clients from around the globe with content strategy, development and deployment. Ms. Friedlander-Hoffman was previously General Counsel and SVP of Business Development for Intertainer, the first VOD service delivered over both broadband and cable and helped the company raise over $100 Million from companies such as Microsoft, Comcast, Intel, Qwest, Sony, NBC and Thomson Consumer Electronics. She was responsible for negotiating content agreements with the major studios and programmers, distribution agreements with cable companies and telcos, and general technology ventures. In the Business Development role, Ms. Friedlander-Hoffman was responsible for international development and led her team to implement Intertainers strategy related to content distribution and software services. Prior to her tenure with Intertainer, Ms. Friedlander-Hoffman practiced corporate law at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in Los Angeles. Ms. Friedlander-Hoffman holds a JD from the University of Chicago and a BA with honors from the University of Michigan.
Erik Ramberg, Strategic Partnerships Director, Windows Media Center, TV, Video & Music Business, Microsoft Corporation: Erik Ramberg is a Strategic Partnerships Director in Microsofts Windows Media Center, part of Microsofts TV, Video & Music Business initiative. Mr. Ramberg has a long history of working closely with Consumer Electronics partners to create great business opportunities for entertainment products and technologies. Creating new ways to find, move, and share entertainment experiences across the three screens of PC, Mobile, and TV is the primary business for his business unit. Prior to working for Microsoft, he held executive positions in a variety of entertainment and wireless communications oriented start-ups and established businesses, initially designing signal processing algorithms, leading to systems architectures, and then into business management and development. Erik Ramberg holds a bachelor of science degree in engineering from Harvey Mudd College.
Bruce Anderson, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Blockbuster OnDemand. Drawing on more than 20 years' experience in technology strategy, development, delivery, and management, Bruce has been at the forefront of digital entertainment delivery since early 1998. As GM of Blockbuster OnDemand, Bruce is responsible for all aspects of Blockbuster's digital delivery to the home. Bruce joined Blockbuster in August 2007 following Blockbuster's acquisition of Movielink where he had served as a senior executive since 2002. Prior to Movielink, Bruce served as Senior Vice President of Technology for the digital entertainment service platform Intertainer. Before entering the digital entertainment realm, Bruce served as a Senior Technical Architect at MCI Systemhouse. Bruce holds a Bachelor of Science in Computing Science from Dalhousie University.
David Cook, GM CinemaNow Services, Sonic Solutions: Mr. Cook is general manager of Sonics CinemaNow Services and is responsible for daily business operations including product development, program management, encoding, merchandising and customer service. In addition, he plays an integral roll in setting business strategies for the group and managing key partner relationships. Mr. Cook brings more than 10 years of experience in the development and deployment of digital content management and distribution systems. Before Sonics acquisition of CinemaNow, Mr. Cook was COO of the company. Previously, Mr. Cook was at Loudeye where he was responsible for building and implementing their digital supply chain as their Vice President of Media Services. He also served as Vice President of Business Development and Marketing at Addition Systems (formerly MonStar Broadcast Systems), where he lead the company into the advertising based content distribution market through the development of patented technologies and associated business models. Mr. Cook originally hails from New Zealand.
Mike Vorhaus, President, Magid Advisors: Founded the Magid Internet and New Media research and consultation practice in 1995, with AOL and Excite as his first two clients. Mikes team has completed over 2,500 engagements with over 100 Internet clients. Mike began the Magid Gaming Practice in 2001 with EA and Sony Online as his first two clients. The Magid Game Practice now works with most of the major game publishers. Mike provides research and consulting services to a number of major traditional media companies in regard to their new media initiatives, as well as consulting a number of leading Internet and gaming companies. He has also provided advice to venture capital and private equity firms in regard to investments in the media space. Mike has been involved in strategic and tactical consulting, including the launch of new services and programming, as well as development and implementation of online and offline marketing programs. Mike has also been extensively involved in video and PC gaming strategies for a number of our companies, as well as the development of game concepts. Mike has consulted on a number of film projects such as Youve Got Mail and The Matrix. He holds a B.S. in psychology and sociology from Wesleyan University and has worked as a fundraiser and transfer of technology officer at the California Institute of Technology and the University of California. Mike also worked for the U.S. House of Representatives, The U.S. Senate, and for two Administrations in the White House.
