Track II- GP4 - Game Power Mobile Gaming Experience - the Next Generation in Games, Devices and the Coming High Speed Delivery of Content As the portable games industry evolves into a global mobile gaming experience, the confluence of enhanced handsets and platforms, the increasing broadband delivery infrastructure and the acceptance on the part of the consumer, presents a mobile universe of untold possibilities. To this point, the games industry has only just begin to explore the cutting edge technologies in developing mobile games and device sophistication it is just emerging from its first generation. With that in mind, one can only imagine what the world of mobile games as a consumer experience will look like in two or three years. Mobile gaming and the portable device is the killer combination in the making and in this session, we begin to explore what that future world will look like. Lucy Hood, Former President, Fox Mobile Entertainment: Lucy Hood was formerly President of Fox Mobile Entertainment and CEO of Jamba, one of the industrys largest mobile entertainment companies. Currently, Hood is advising corporations, studios, and tech ventures on digital entertainment strategy. Lucy Hood is widely known as an innovative industry leader in digital content, building News Corporations mobile business to hundreds of millions through partnerships with companies such as Nokia, Vodafone, ATT, Qualcomm and Verisign. Hood created many industry firsts at Fox, including leading the groundbreaking American Idol mobile efforts, which introduced text messaging to mass media in the United States in 2001. Fox Mobile Entertainment also received the first Emmy ® nomination for mobile with the video series 24:Conspiracy, invented the Mobisode ® and ran the first major ad-sponsored video series. Hood started her career at News Corp over a decade ago and was a key executive in launching numerous technology businesses at Fox, including Fox Pay Television, Fox.com, FX Cable and the News Corp Content Group. Previously, Lucy Hood was an executive at Paramount Pictures. Hood is a keynote speaker at major industry events and business conferences around the world such as CES, E3, CTIA, 3G World Congress, Wireless Influencers and Digital Hollywood. In addition, Lucy Hood has spoken on digital issues before top government officials in the US and in China. She is regularly featured in lists of key influential executives, including the Digital 50 and the Mobile Entertainment Top 50. Board/Advisory roles include: CTIA WIC Leadership Council, GSM Entertainment Executives, NATPE, and UCLAs Wireless Council. Lucy Hood holds an M.B.A. from Columbia Universitys Graduate School of Business and a B.A. from Yale University.
Jason Rubinstein, former, Senior Director, Entertainment, Mobile Devices business, Motorola, Inc.: Jason Rubinstein is responsible for bringing to market rich consumer experiences in mobile entertainment. He works with industry partners, developers and operators to deliver enhanced video and gaming solutions for the mobile device. Before joining Motorola, he served as General Manager for Ubi Soft Entertainment and was Vice President and General Manger of the music division at Riffage.com. Jason managed Intel's games and music industry market development and technology initiatives and held posts at Total Entertainment Network, DreamWorks Interactive and Sierra On-Line/The Imagination Network. Prior to that, he held production and marketing titles with CBS Records and Warner Music Group.
Tammy Robinson, Senior Director, Sega Mobile: Tammy Robinson, A mobile game industry veteran, Tammy Robinson is leading strategic sales and planning for SEGA Mobile, overseeing all distribution channels for the company, sales and planning initiatives, and expanding the reach of the companys mobile product portfolio to emerging platforms. Prior to joining Sega Mobile, Robinson spent 10 years at Verizon Wireless as Manager of Content Programming for Games, Wallpaper and Applications, where she established mobile games as a key category in Verizons downloadable content catalog. Robinson is a member of the Mobile Marketing Association and is a frequent speaker about mobile gaming.
Justin Radeka, Technology Evangelist, Media Processing Division, ARM: As Technology Evangelist for ARM, Justin Radeka works with cutting edge technology groups and content creation companiestop tier developers and publishers of video games, entertainment and productivityto develop the industry-wide strategies in bringing the latest mobile technologies to tomorrow's consumer. Prior to joining ARM, he served as Vice President of Developer Relations for Falanx Microsystems, a semiconductor company producing graphics acceleration processors. Justin has also served as Vice President, Chief Technology Officer of EVGA, a PC graphics board manufacturer, and as Systems Engineer and head of the gaming group at Hewlett Packard. Justin has spoken at events such as Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the Austin Games Conference and SIGGRAPH, and has published articles on the state of the mobile game industry. Most recently, he completed the first session as a juror for the International Mobile Games Awards (IMGA), an annual competition recognizing top mobile games worldwide. Justin holds a BA from the University of California.
Joe Keene, co-founder and the Chief Operating Officer, ngmoco: Joe Keene is the Chief Operating Officer of ng:moco, creator and publisher of games exclusively for iPhone and iPod touch. Keene is responsible for business operations at the company. Prior to joining ng:moco, Keene was the Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer, and Co-Chairman at Perpetual Entertainment. Before co-founding Perpetual Entertainment, Joe Keene held a variety of executive positions at Electronic Arts, the industry's largest independent games publisher, including Associate General Counsel, Chief Operating Officer of the Maxis Studio, Vice President of Worldwide Publishing, Vice President of Corporate Development and Chief Operating Officer of EA.com. In these positions, he participated in or led many of EA's major business initiatives during the period of its greatest growth, including the acquisition of several critical studios and publishing companies, the negotiation of major property and publishing deals, and the formation of EA.com. Prior to joining Electronic Arts, Mr. Keene practiced law in San Francisco, specializing in corporate transactions in intellectual property-based industries. Mr. Keene received his A.B. from Harvard University and his J.D. from the University of California, Berkley.
Russell Weiss is a partner in the Los Angeles office of Morrison & Foerster LLP and a Co-Head of its Entertainment, Media and Technology practice and Head of the firmwide Video Game practice. Mr. Weiss specializes in transactional matters and counseling in the fields of entertainment, media, technology and intellectual property with a particular focus on the convergence of entertainment and technology. Mr. Weiss represents video game, motion picture, television, cable, mobile, Internet, music, toy and multimedia companies in structuring, negotiating and drafting a broad range of agreements involving the financing, acquisition, development, production, marketing, promotion, distribution, publishing, sale and other exploitation of video games, motion pictures, television and Internet programming, music and consumer products. Mr. Weiss also represents a wide array of technology companies in structuring, negotiating and drafting agreements involving the research, development, licensing, manufacturing, marketing, distribution, sale and other exploitation of technology. In addition to the transaction matters that he handles for clients, Mr. Weiss regularly counsels clients on intellectual property and commercial law matters, including, without limitation: piracy; privacy; fair use; the Digital Millennium Copyright Act; digital rights management; advertising; contests, sweepstakes and gaming; right of publicity; and unfair competition. Mr. Weiss has spoken on many panels concerning issues faced by the entertainment, music, video game and technology industries and has been widely quoted in Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, CNET News, San Jose Mercury News and other publications.
