In this, the final session of the day, we bring together a group of the most experienced professionals in the emerging field of broadband advertising and content delivery and we look forward to it being a truly visionary look into the future of the marketplace. The projections on broadband penetration are now becoming more clear, but what can we seriously expect from the merger of content and commerce? That’s the question that we hope to explore. What will e-commerce look like in the next three years? Will the B to C relationship become a megahit or is it still possible that it will fail to measure up to the expectations? Let’s find out.

Paul Mitchell, Senior Director, Content, Standards and Tools, Microsoft TV Group: Paul Mitchell is responsible for content and services for the Microsoft TV Platforms. He and his team manage a collection of evangelism and training programs for interactive content developers seeking to deploy their content and services on the new interactive television platforms, as well as for television programmers and executives looking for ways to expand their traditional businesses. He is also responsible for the development of developer tools for the TV Platforms. Mitchell was instrumental in the creation of the Advanced Television Enhancement Forum (ATVEF), an organization now involving over 70 companies worldwide, representing all aspects of television production, distribution, consumer electronics, and software, and is Microsoft’s Founder representative to the ATVEF. A veteran of Interactive TV, Mitchell formerly worked in Microsoft’s Advanced Consumer Technology group during the early experimentation with interactive technologies in the early 90s. Prior to that he worked in Microsoft’s developer division, where he launched several successful tools products, including Visual C++, and Visual C++ for Windows NT, the company’s first professional toolset for the Windows NT operating system. Recent speaking experience includes, Digital Hollywood and Convergence 2000.

Eric Shepcaro, CEO, Broadstream: Mr. Shepcaro has more than 20 years of technical sales, marketing and general management experience. Prior to joining BroadStream, Shepcaro was responsible for leading Digital Island's international content delivery, managed hosting and applications businesses as well as developing and managing their partners, alliances and channel programs worldwide. Previously, Shepcaro served as Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Service for Sandpiper Networks, a leader in content and edge delivery networks.
In addition, Shepcaro spent over 17 years at Sprint Corporation in various capacities. Shepcaro served as Vice President Sales Engineering and Application Support, Vice President Product Marketing, Vice President/General Manager as well as several other key positions in the business services arena. He has extensive experience in data networking, IP services and e-commerce initiatives. Active in several charitable endeavors including the United Way and Boys and Girls Clubs, Shepcaro resides in Malibu California with his wife and two children.

Terri Swartz, Vice President Marketing, Navic Networks: Terri Swartz brings to the company more than a decade of product marketing and business development experience. Swartz recently served as vice president of product marketing for MoreCom, Inc., where she spearheaded strategic and tactical plans for marketing and public relations, and was instrumental in positioning the start-up for a $500 million acquisition by Liberate Technologies. Swartz was a product manager at General Instrument Corporation, where she directed business activities for one of the company’s advanced set-top terminal lines with annual revenues of $300 million. Swartz was recently named one of the cable industry's "Women to Watch in 2001" by Cablevision Magazine. Each year, the magazine dedicates one issue to profile the most powerful women in cable, as well as spotlighting up-and-coming leaders, such as Swartz, whom they think will set the pace of the industry in the coming year.





Scott Kraft, Partner, The Sterling Group: A pioneer in technology branding, interactive media and Internet marketing, Scott brings technology and branding together for clients such as Citigroup, Sun, GE, Sony, Viacom, and most of Sterling’s other clients. Among his notable achievements and recognitions are the first Cannes Golden Lions Award for an Internet campaign and the first Golden Pencil One Club Award – both given for his Creative Direction of a groundbreaking, rich media campaign for IBM. Scott continues to push forward the interplay of technology and branding. His previous positions include VP Interactive at Reader’s Digest, SVP Byron Preiss Multimedia (a company he helped found and take public), and EVP/Partner Tom Nicholson Associates (IconNicholson) where he led numerous successful marketing efforts for clients such as Eastman Kodak, Viacom, NewsCorp, MCI, America Online, Condé Nast Publications, Advance Publications, HarperCollins, TV Guide, 20th Century Fox, Penguin USA, Microsoft and NBC. Scott also conceived and taught the first interactive writing class anywhere at NYU’s renowned ITP Graduate School, and continues to write for film. His most recent feature “Wrestling with Alligators”, starring Claire Bloom and Joely Richardson, premiered as an official selection of the 1998 Sundance Film Festival. His current project in development “Roadshow” traces the rise and fall of a fictional dot-com with a “business model” to end all business models.

Keith Ferrazzi, CEO, YaYa: Having once been named the youngest Chief Marketing Officer for a Fortune 500 company, Keith Ferrazzi brings his extensive relationships and vast experience to lead YaYa as Chief Executive Officer. Before joining YaYa, Keith was Chief Marketing Officer for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, the youngest CMO in the Fortune 500. While at Starwood, Keith is credited with bringing clarity to the Starwood brand architecture through his positioning and marketing of Starwood’s brands including Sheraton; Westin and The Luxury Collection while birthing the new St. Regis and W Hotel brands. Prior to joining Starwood, Ferrazzi was chief marketing officer of Deloitte Consulting, a leading management consulting firm, where he developed and managed the industry’s first globally integrated marketing organization. As a result of creative marketing initiatives during Ferrazzi’s tenure, Deloitte Consulting’s brand recognition moved from the lowest in the industry to second position thus achieving the highest growth rate in the industry that period. Ferrazzi was an early leader in the quality movement as the youngest examiner of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. He is a frequent commentator on CNN and CNBC, and has authored a number of pieces for business publications such as the Wall Street Journal and the Harvard Business Review. Keith was named a "Global Leader of Tomorrow" by The World Economic Forum in 1999 and he chairs an effort exploring the linkages between leadership success and spirituality. He was a Crain’s Business pick as one of the 40 top business leaders under 40 in 1997. Keith is active in civic and charitable organizations. He created a foundation designed to promote business excellence among smaller institutions in manufacturing, health care and education. He is also an active member of the board of directors of Save America’s Treasures, chaired by former First Lady Hillary Clinton and Yale University’s Alumni Board. Mr. Ferrazzi earned a BA from Yale University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Fred Allegrezza is Chief Technology Officer of Concurrent Computer Corporation, a leading provider of high-performance real-time computer systems, software, and servers. Concurrent’s Xstreme Division is a leading supplier in the emerging digital video server marketplace. This market includes the broadband/cable, corporate training, education, hospitality, and in-flight entertainment industries. Concurrent’s Real-Time Division is a leading provider of high-performance, real-time computer systems, solutions, and software for commercial and government markets. Mr. Allegrezza has more than 11 years of development and marketing experience with six years in the cable industry, including the founding of Vivid Technology which was acquired by Concurrent Computer Corporation in 1999. Mr. Allegrezza was appointed to Vice President, Business Development of Concurrent October 28, 1999. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Allegrezza served as the President and CEO of Vivid Technology, which he founded in September 1996. Prior to September 1996, Mr. Allegrezza worked with General Instrument as the Engineering Program Manager and Systems Engineering Manager in the first digital interactive cable systems deployments.

Mark Schonfeld, Partner, Brown Raysman Millstein Felder & Steiner LLP: Mark Schonfeld concentrates his practice on complex business and intellectual property litigation, especially issues regarding e-commerce and the Internet. He is highly skilled in the areas of trademark infringement, copyright and patent litigation. Mr. Schonfeld has extensive experience in anti-counterfeiting efforts for the world's leading brand names and is responsible for the seizure of millions of dollars in counterfeit merchandise from distribution centers, retail operations and factories that manufacture counterfeit products. He has conducted software audit raids for major software companies and several of his cases have resulted in federal criminal prosecution. He has obtained the first "asset freeze" order in Massachusetts in a trademark counterfeiting case. Mr. Schonfeld also has experience serving as counsel to the Imaging Supplies Coalition for International Intellectual Property Protection, Inc., an organization formed by prominent computer companies to combat counterfeiting and unfair and deceptive trade practices affecting the computer supplies industry. Mr. Schonfeld has published many articles on intellectual property matters, including "The Federalization of Trade Secrets Law: The Economic Espionage Act of 1966", in The IP Litigator (1997), and "A U.S. Perspective on High-Tech Trademark Issues," International Trademark Association (1998). He has also contributed to books, including Perfecting and Realizing On Liens and Interests, in which he authored the section entitled "Obtaining and Enforcing Judicial Liens," and frequently lectures for law schools and Continuing Legal Education programs. Mr. Schonfeld is on the Advisory Board of the IP Litigator and is on the Board of Directors of the International Anti-counterfeiting Coalition. Gurval Caer, President and Chief Executive Officer - Blast Radius: Gurval Caer brings extensive management skills combined with superior industry and technical knowledge to his role as Chief Executive Officer and President at Blast Radius, an award-winning Internet solutions provider. Blast Radius leverages Internet technologies to help leading businesses automate marketing, sales, and customer service, maximizing their return on relationships. Prior to founding Blast Radius in 1996, Gurval graduated from the Ecole Superieur de Commerce de Dijon with a business degree and worked for Ernst &Young in France. Pursuing his passion for technology and the Internet, Gurval moved to Canada to study new media at the prestigious Vancouver Film School, where he later became a well-respected teacher. As one of the original founders of Blast Radius, Gurval has led the company to numerous awards including two consecutive Interactive Gold Clio Awards for Brand Building (2000-2001) and recognition as one of Canada’s 50 best privately managed companies in 2001. His leadership was also instrumental in establishing Blast Radius’ long-term relationships with companies such as Nike, Nintendo, Kenwood, Casio, LEGO, Showtime, Universal Studios, and Atlantic Records. Gurval has also been named one of Business in Vancouver magazine’s 40 Under 40 corporate leaders and a finalist for the Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Canada.
