Session B:
The Mobile Explosion – As Content, Communications and Technology Become Ubiquitous
While it didn’t exactly sneak up on us, wireless is suddenly everywhere and impacting everything we do. Cell phones now take pictures and double as MP3 and game players. The debate is no longer which PDA or cell phone features will be the dominant winner. The question is how many mobile devices will a consumer purchase. Wireless is an industry that is only beginning to be defined – and the media, entertainment, content and information industries are at the epicenter of this explosive growth. Whether we are speaking of wireless in the context of the individual user, the home, the car, the office or mobile workplace- or whether we are speaking of voice, video or data in a cell, broadband, wi-fi or wi-max universe, wireless is the basic enabler. Consumer habits are in flux and sooner or later, every sector of our strategic planning and understanding will ultimate have to be reengineered.
