Whether its a wirelessly connected home comprised of unlimited content via DTV and HDTV, PDAs, laptops, desktops PCs, a Set-Top connection, IM devices or telephony system; a broadband mobile device, a fully loaded media friendly car, a broadband workspace or public space, the consumer is connected all the time, sending or receiving information and content. In this session, we will explore what it means to create and enable that fully connected universe. Daniel Scheinman, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at Cisco Systems, is the corporate strategist tasked with identifying and engaging market opportunities that will help drive the next generation of innovation and growth for Cisco. Dan leads the merger and acquisition, venture investment, strategic alliance, technology incubation and corporate public relations organizations within Cisco. An online media site with nearly 3 million visitors each year, News@Cisco is a centralized place for individuals to find multi-media information about Ciscos opinion, strategy, and recent news. Leading corporations and government institutions are now modeling their own Web communication programs after News@Cisco. Prior to assuming the role of Senior Vice President of Corporate Development in 2001, Dan was the general counsel at Cisco. Dans talents were recognized by The National Law Journal where he was named one of the 100 most influential lawyers in the U.S. Dan holds a Juris Doctorate degree from Duke University Law School and a political science degree from Brandeis University.Maria Marced, Senior Vice President, Connected Multimedia Solution s, Philips Semiconductors: Maria Marced is a senior vice president at Philips' semiconductors division, managing Philips' audio/video semiconductor business, which consists of semiconductor system solutions for audio, video and storage as well as car infotainment. Based in the UK, Marced is responsible for delivering multimedia building blocks to the Connected Consumer industry, which includes Philips' focus area NexperiaTM Home DVD+RW semiconductor system solutions as well as portable consumer applications. Marced joined Philips with over twenty-five years experience in the semiconductor industry, most recently holding the position of vice president of marketing & sales and general manager of EMEA at Intel. In this position, Marced was responsible for the strategic direction, sales, marketing and administrative functions of the EMEA region. Marced's successes in the field of business and technology have earned her a number of honors, including being named third place in the Wall Street Journal Europe's Business Woman of the Year award in 2001.Bill Taylor, Senior Director, Product & Channel Marketing, Consumer Entertainment Solutions, Motorola: Bill Taylor is the Senior Director of Marketing for Consumer Solutions Business at Motorola Broadband Communications Sector. Bill is responsible for leading the consumer marketing and product line management teams within CSB. Bill and his team focus on developing and implementing consumer-oriented product, marketing and channel strategies that leverage Motorolas brand identity in the Connected Home space. Bill also served as VP, Business Development with Philips Consumer Electronics, Professional Products Group, where he was responsible for identifying strategic market, product and channel opportunities and for integrating those opportunities into the Philips business plans. Bill has a wealth of consumer marketing and retail business experience, including several years in channel marketing and channel sales development with AT&T and Eastman Kodak Company. Mr. Taylor holds an MBA from the University of Denver. His undergraduate degree is from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Scott Smyers, Chairman, DLNA Board of Directors, Vice President, Net work and Systems Architecture Division, Platform Technology Center of America, Sony Electronics: Mr. Smyers serves as the chairman of the Board of Directors of Digital Living Network Alliance and as President of DLNA Corporation. Aside from his DLNA duties, Mr. Smyers is also Vice President of the Network and Systems Architecture Division of the Platform Technology Center of America at Sony Electronics. Mr. Smyers particular area of focus is system architecture, system I/O and interfaces. Through his leadership as chairman of the 1394 Trade Association's AV Working Group over the course of seven years, Mr. Smyers has served a pivotal role in bringing about a suite of standards that define consumer device discovery and control. Mr. Smyers now also serves as the Chairman of the CE Linux Forum Steering Committee, and has in the past served as CTO and member of the Board of Directors of the 1394 Trade Association and on the UPnP Steering Committee. Mr. Smyers holds a BA in Physics and Philosophy from Cornell UniversityTim Krause , Senior Vice President of Marketing for Alcatels Fixed Com munications Group: Tim has global responsibility for Alcatels marketing activities of its fixed networks portfolio of solutions in data, optical transport, broadband access, and next generation switching to carrier markets. He has almost 20 year of experience in the telecommunications industry and has held various positions in engineering, product line management, product strategy, and marketing in Alcatel. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Marketing for the terrestrial networking products of Alcatels Optics Group. He graduated in 1983 from William Jewell College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics and received an MBA in Business Management from the University of Dallas in 1994.Stuart Lipson, Vice President, Content Solutions, SeaChange International: Stuart Lipson is vice president of Content Solutions for the worlds leading on-demand systems provider SeaChange International. Lipson is focused on supporting television networks, studios and other content creators and providers in their efforts to more efficiently distribute content and extend their brands as television rapidly evolves toward more personal applications across all forms of television and online venues. Lipson has focused on media and entertainment for over 20 years. Since 1996, his consultancy provided strategic support for a wide range of television programmers and technology companies including Court TV, Agency.com and Incanta. Lipson spent the six prior years with Century Communications, where he was vice president of programming and advertising sales. His career began with ten years in television commercial production. Lipson earned his M.S. in technology management from Polytechnic University and his Bachelors degree in business administration from the State University of New York at Albany. Lipson serves on the board of the Big Picture Alliance, which provides Philadelphias inner city youth with opportunities to learn about film production. He is also a member of the Directors Guild of America and the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing. |
