With all the major players from AOL, Yahoo and Microsoft right in the middle of the action, this sector, along with already dominant Massively Multiplayer Game world, make broadband gaming in general the hot topic in the world of entertainment and the games industry. And with the expansion of the games industry reaching into all demographic sectors, from kids to hard core gamers and now with women, seniors and teens being drawn further into games, whether through the expansion of PC and broadband, portable players and mobile devices, through interactive TV or simply through the greatness of the new consoles, the casual gaming experience, facilitated by the downloading opportunity on all platforms is driving a formidable marketplace. What will this market look like in the future? How will the games played evolve? What will the growth from simple to sophisticated game and game player look like? Previously, Mr. Donovan was VP/managing director of a the newly created promotional and marketing arm of publicly traded Fotoball USA, Inc. where he worked with all major sports and entertainment licensors and properties. Prior to MHQ, he was President and CEO of the Smoothie King Franchises and the Director of Brand Image for the 2002 Salt Lake Olympic Winter Olympic Games. He is also a strategic advisor to the co-founder of Subway Restaurants, the world's largest franchise company.Steve Parkis, Vice President, Premium Products, Disney Online: Steve Parkis is the vice president of the premium products team at Disney Online, the division of the Walt Disney Internet Group that produces the No. 1 kids' entertainment and family community destination on the Web. He oversees the product development, operations and marketing of Disney branded Internet content sold both directly to consumers online and via distribution agreements with narrowband and broadband ISPs. Products in the group's portfolio include Disney's Blast, the acclaimed Disney's Toontown Online - a multiplayer online game, Disney Connection - a broadband only kids channel for high-speed ISPs, Hot Shot Business - an educational game for budding entrepreneurs, and downloadable games including "Incredibles: Escape from Nomanisan Island." Previously, Parkis served in finance and corporate development at the Walt Disney Internet Group overseeing, among other things, the strategy for the delivery of the GO Network's rich media content and development of its entertainment focused vertical content areas. Most recently, Parkis was responsible for leading the financial planning team of WDIG during the division's drive into profitability. Parkis first joined The Walt Disney Company in 1998 as a senior analyst in the business planning and development function at Walt Disney World. Before joining Disney, Parkis was a managing director at Windhorst New Technologies, a venture capital and operating firm focused on technology and media investment. He began his career at Kimberly-Clark Corporation, where he spent five years in various roles working on consumer brands such as Kleenex facial tissue and Huggies diapers. Parkis holds a master's of business administration degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and a bachelor's degree in financial administration from Michigan State University. Parkis resides in Valencia, California with his wife and three sons. Sandra G. Myers, Business Development Executive, Digital Media for IGS , IBM: Sandra Myers has been with IBM for 20 years, leading a broad range of projects, including sales, sales management, service business development, marketing and developing business partner relationships. In her current role, Myers is responsible for identifying and developing the online games business for IBM. This includes market place validation and short incubations to launch emerging businesses quickly. Prior to her current position, Myers served as the small medium business western region area sales executive for the emerging and competitive and netgeneration businesses and directed a team of senior business development executives. During her tenure at IBM, she has also served as client executive in both sector and SMB business units and has more than eight years experience in the distribution sector. Myers earned a masters degree in marketing from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, B.C.) and a bachelors degree in finance from Concordia University (Montreal, Quebec).Adam Lake is a Sr. Software Engineer in the Software Solutions Group leading The Modern Game Technologies Project at Intel Corp., specializing in next generation computer graphics algorithms and architectures. Previous to working at Intel he obtained a Masters in Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill studying computer graphics and virtual reality. Before studying at UNC-Chapel Hill he worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory in the Applied Theoretical Physics and Computational Science Methods (XCM) group. He has several publications in computer graphics and has reviewed papers for SIGGRAPH, IEEE, and several book chapters on computer graphics. In his spare time he is a mountain biker, road cyclist, hiker, camper, avid reader, snowboarder, and Sunday driver. Chris Swain, co-director, EA Game Innovation Lab., USC School of Fi lm & Televison: Chris is a visiting professor and co-director of the EA Game Innovation Lab at the USC School of Cinema. At USC he is interested in how games - which are mathematical systems - work as dramatic systems. Previously Chris was a founding member of game developer Spiderdance, Inc. - a company focused on games for mass audiences. Prior to Spiderdance, Chris was a founding member of R/GA Interactive, a premiere New York design firm. At R/GA, he designed and produced over 150 games and interactive products for clients that include: Disney, Activision, America Online, Warner Brothers, the BBC, Children's Television Workshop, Discovery Channel, Brooklyn Academy of Music, and PBS among many others. Chris has served on the Board of Directors for the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (Emmy's). He was a leader of the team that established the first Emmy for "Excellence in Interactive Television". In addition he has served on the Board of Advisors for the American Film Institute's Enhanced Television Workshop. Chris is co-author with Tracy Fullerton of the book "Game Design Workshop" which was published in 2004 by CMP Books.Scott Cohen, President, Game Trust Inc.: Scott Cohen serves as Presid ent of Game Trust Inc., the leading provider of gaming infrastructure. As President, he is responsible for domestic and international sales, strategic acquisitions, client services and business development. The Game Trust platform now reaches 50-million players each month throughout North America, Europe, and Latin America, counting ShockWave, MiniClip and Star Media among its major clients. Cohen joined Game Trust in April 2004, and brings over 25 years of expertise in strategic development, deal making and successful negotiations. For several web-related enterprises, Cohen has built sales teams coast to coast and in Europe, developed client services to support accelerated growth, and conducted work-outs and reductions in periods of downturn. His career exhibits leadership in the interactive field in the United States and Europe, and exceptional performance in both corporate and entrepreneurial environments. As a co-founder and/or senior level executive, Cohen was critical to the success of two IPO's over the past six years: LivePerson (LPSN on the NASDAQ exchange) and 24/7 Media (TFSM on NASDAQ). His responsibilities included business development, mergers and acquisitions, sales, marketing, finance, strategic planning, management consulting, and client services. As part of the senior management team, he worked to raise more than $150 million from the public markets and private investors for affiliated companies (Market Cap at IPO over $700 million). Prior to Game Trust, Cohen served as Partner in the Red Tie Media consulting group, assisting venture capitalists and CEO's to help nascent and leading companies expand market share, develop business plans, hire and train their sales force, secure investment, and identify and negotiate potential deals, mergers or acquisitions. Industries of focus included Internet, technology, media, M&A, banking, real estate, and consulting. He presently serves on the Board of Directors and/or Board of Advisors for several Internet and technology companies.Joshua B. Grode, Partner, Liner Yankelevitz Sunshine & Regenstreif: Joshua B. Grode is a partner and co- head of the firm's Corporate Department and is spearheading its growing Technology and IP Practice. Mr. Grode's corporate practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions for public and private companies, securities matters, equity and debt financings, and day-to-day corporate governance and operational matters. His intellectual property practice is concentrated in the areas of licensing and intellectual property protection and exploitation. Having worked outside the law firm environment in an operational role, Mr. Grode brings a unique perspective to his practice of law infusing sound legal counsel with real world business experience. Previously, Mr. Grode was Senior Vice-President and group manager of Siegel & Gale, a communication, business and brand consultancy division of advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi. Mr. Grode received his B.A. from U.C.L.A in 1988 and his J.D. from Loyola University in 1991 where he was a member of the Scott Moot Court Honors Board. He is a member of the Los Angeles and California Bar Associations (Corporate and Intellectual Property Law Sections). He was a Keynote Panelist at the 2001 CTIA Convention, and a Guest Lecturer at the UCLA Anderson School of Business.
