| Day Long Monday Wireless Workshop Track Hosted by Mobile Entertainment Forum Wireless Entertainment & Technology The Audio, Video and Text-Based Experience Monday, March 29 9:00 AM - 10:15 AM Mobile Entertainment Immersion As Audio & Video Content from MP3, Radio, Net-Based and Video Communications and Entertainment - Emerge The wireless experience is merging with entertainment consciousness. What was thought to be absurd two years ago is now fait accompli. The mobile device is about to reinvent itself once again to include the full range of entertainment dynamics, from the functionality of a radio or MP3 player to the video quality of a DVD player. Video phones will be for watching TV, watching friends on vacation and for watching movies. Mobile devices will range from the mini, the micro to the mini-laptop, perfect for watching full-featured live sporting events. Music will be accessed via the mobile device. Video shopping will be become a factor in the marketplace. The parameters of the mobile audio and video experience are only now beginning to be understood. In this opening session to our day-long workshop on "Wireless," we will begin to sketch out those limits. Robert Tercek, Executive VP Programming - Chief Strategy Officer, (M)FORMA Ralph Simon, Mobile Entertainment Forum, U.S. Chair Americas, Moderator (founder of Yourmobile and co-founder of Zomba Group/Jive Records), Moderator Additional speakers to be announced Reidar Wasenius, Senior Project Manager, Nokia Multimedia / New Med ia Business Unit: Reidar Wasenius currently serves as Senior Project Manager at the new NMedia Business Unit of the Nokia Multimedia business group. He develops new mobile applications for music and broadcast media consumption with Nokia handsets. Before that, he was responsible for N-Gage on-line gaming and services, i.e. the development of cellular network enhancements for the N-Gage platform. Wasenius has also worked in business development at the Insight & Foresight unit of the Nokia Ventures Organization. Prior to joining Nokia, Wasenius was the founder and Program Director of the Department of Media and Communications at Arcada Polytechnic. He has extensive experience in the media and entertainment industry where he has held various positions in print media, radio and television since the late 80s. He has worked as a reporter, producer and educator.Robert Tercek, Executive VP Programming / Chief Strategy Officer (M)FORMAs partnership alliances and content strategy are managed by Robert Tercek, an 18 year veteran of the digital media industry. Tercek previously served in executive management roles at PacketVideo, Sony Pictures Entertainment, MTV: Music Television and 7th Level. He has supervised the development and production of entertainment content and services for every digital platform, including satellite and cable television, narrow- and broadband Internet, game consoles and PC CD ROM, and wireless networks. His credits include some of the most successful interactive entertainment titles, including the online editions of Jeopardy!, Wheel of Fortune, Trivial Pursuit, The Dating Game, and the Monty Python PC game series. Chris Melissinos is Sun Microsystems' Chief Gaming Officer and a self -proclaimed video game addict. His responsibilities include the development of Sun Microsystems programs, offerings, and vision targeting the electronic entertainment industry. As the Chief Gaming Officer, he is responsible for driving an industry-wide movement toward JavaTM technology-based game development and building infrastructure programs for massively connected game play. Melissinos' speaking resume includes high profile conferences such as the Consumer Electronics Show, Electronic Entertainment Expo, Game Developers Conference, Harvard's Cyberposium, JavaTM Conference in Milan, Italy, and Ziff-Daviss Electronic Gaming Summit.Ralph Simon, Mobile Entertainment Forum, U.S. Chair Americas: Los Angeles-based Ralph Simon is recognized as one the leading international authorities on mobile entertainment. Simon co-founded the Zomba Group of music companies. Zomba and its Jive Records is the world's most successful and leading independent music publishing and recording organization. In 1993, he became Executive Vice President of Capitol Records and Blue Note Records in Los Angeles where he founded EMI's New technology & New Media division. In 1996, Simon was appointed European President of Rondor Music International and Almo Sounds record companies in the UK and Ireland, Holland, Germany, France and other European Union territories.In 1998, Simon returned to Los Angeles and became Chairman of Santa Monica-based Global Music One and founded Yourmobile - the first company of its kind in the USA specializing in the development, distribution and application of mobile entertainment, intellectual property and publishing rights of the emerging mobile entertainment industry. Simon was responsible for concluding the sale of Yourmobile to Vivendi-Universal's VU Net USA in January 2002. |
