As ITV enters everyday usage and acceptance in our digital households, for the first time in the United States, we are able to see how the economics of Interactive TV will play out. While the consumer may not be paying directly for many of the services, the involvement of tens of millions of users in Interactive TV activities is now identifiable. As we move forward, the idea of a separate notion of ITV, as distinct from "digital TV viewing" may simply disappear. It is predicted by many that the functionality of ITV may be so compelling, that consumers may simply incorporate ITV their everyday viewing process. In this session, we will get a first-hand report from the world experts in ITV on the future of their industry. Magazine. Mr. Perry has long been acknowledged as a media technology visionary known for his work with high-growth, technology-based companies such as Powercore, CE Software, and Interactive Resources. He is also noted for his Electronic Program Guide (EPG) innovations, for his work in the digital TV sector, and for his groundbreaking efforts regarding issues surrounding the SHVIA. Mr. Perry is also a respected figure inside the beltway for having educated legislators and members of the FCC on digital and satellite broadcast issues. He has been the lead inventor in the development of Decisionmark's growing number of patented technologies: the first regarding household determination of broadcast signal area coverage, the second being the key to solving issues related to Internet streaming of local content and the most recent advancing the EPG to the household level. These technologies have served as the basis for several Decisionmark innovations, all developed under the leadership of Mr. Perry, including the TitanTV.com EPG. TitanTV is the premiere online program guide with PVR capabilities having over a quarter of a million users and placement on over 900 TV station web sites. It is the only guide that is updated in real-time by broadcasters who use Decisionmark's proprietary program scheduling tool. Mr. Perry has been a regular presenter at broadcast and technology conferences across the U.S., including: Streaming Media East and West, Kagan's Digital Household Summit, CES and Digital Hollywood. Last year Mr. Perry was named a member of the Consumer Electronics Association's Academy of Digital Television Pioneers. A resident of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mr. Perry earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree from the University of Iowa.Jacqueline Corbelli, Co-Chief Executive Officer, BrightLine Partners: Ms. Corbelli brings deep insight and extensive expertise in heightening market performance, effecting transformational change, and accelerating the achievement of aggressive revenue goals. In addition to her principal role as architect of BrightLines precise path and direction in digital media and enhanced television, Ms. Corbellis focus is on equipping clients to achieve exceptional results from pursuing interactive television advertising opportunities. Ms. Corbelli is a frequent speaker and has written numerous articles on operational infrastructure and business process redesign for various trade periodicals. Prior to joining BrightLine, Ms. Corbelli was President of Aston Associates, LLC, where she led the business and operational redesign of ten major institutions worldwide since the firm was founded in 1992. Jonathan Symonds, Vice President, Business Development, ICTV: Prior to joining ICTV, Jonathan formerly served in a variety of strategic planning and product development roles with On Command, a subsidiary of Liberty Media providing interactive television products to the hospitality industry. Previously, Jonathan served in PricewaterhouseCoopers' Audit, Assurance and Business Advisory Services Group. Jonathan holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Washington and Lee University, and a master's in business administration from Cornell University. Mark Pascarella is President of Gotuit Media Corp. He joined Gotuit in 2001 and assumed his position as president in December 2003. Under Pascarella?s direction, Gotuit has become the leading provider of navigation and indexing services for on-demand television. Before joining Gotuit Media as President, Pascarella teamed up with Sidney Topol, the former Chairman and CEO of Scientific-Atlanta (SFA), to found The Topol Group LLC, an early-stage investment firm. In addition to Gotuit, The Topol Group's investments include broadband router manufacturer RiverDelta Networks (Motorola), cable services provider Navic Networks, and the multimedia semiconductor company Lumic Technologies, where Pascarella served on the Board of Directors. From 1992 to 1997, Pascarella worked at Procter & Gamble, where he was Business Development Manager. He holds a BS in Management from Bucknell University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Bill Schick joined EDS as a Vice President with the Consumer/Retail Ind ustry group focusing on global Media & Entertainment companies. Bill is responsible for developing industry tailored operational solutions for Consumer/Retail and Media & Entertainment companies in the East, Canada and Europe. He is also responsible for developing strategy and business opportunities for EDS DAM/DRM solution creating operational solutions around managing digital content. Bill has over 16 years experience in a variety of management and consulting positions. Most recently from BearingPoint (formerly KPMG Consulting), he served as a Managing Director, Media and Entertainment Consulting Group; Client Executive for several global media accounts; and principal in the KPMG CRM practice along with supporting several US Federal Government accounts. Prior to that, he served as Chief Operating Officer for Magnet Interactive where he helped grow a start up PC Gaming and Internet commerce pathfinder. He has extensive experience in building, motivating and directing cross-functional teams developing, designing and implementing creative solutions to complex problems. Before joining KPMG Consulting in 1985, Mr. Schick was an Officer in the US Marine Corps where he flew the AV8 Harrier and served in various operations and maintenance management functions. His experience includes account management, project management/QA, team development and change management, operational/process analysis, call center/CRM operations, application implementation, and outsourced solutions design and development. Bill holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colgate University and a Masters in Systems Management from the University of Southern California.Robert Morrill, Senior Partner, Sidley Austin Brown & Wood, Moderator: Robert B. Morrill has been a trial lawyer since 1967. His practice is focused on litigation of intellectual property, commercial and business tort disputes. He has tried patent, trademark, copyright, wrongful termination, trade secret and licensing/contract cases, and has represented clients in many industries, including the semiconductor, computer hardware and software, electronics, medical devices, gaming and pharmaceutical areas. His practice has included trials in the United States International Trade Commission, as well as in the Federal and State courts. Mr. Morrill has also acted as an arbitrator, mediator or early neutral evaluator in over 100 matters. He has been appointed Special Master by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and the Santa Clara Superior Court, and he serves as an Early Neutral Evaluator and Mediator for the District Court. Mr. Morrill is a frequent instructor on intellectual property and trial practice issues. Before joining Sidley in 2003, Mr. Morrill was a founding partner at the law firm of Skjerven Morrill LLP. |
