Beyond Movies: Television On Demand – New Revenue Generating Opportunities from the Syndication and Delivery of On-Demand Content
Movies may have been the driver in the pay TV universe, but with the arrival of on-demand television, an entirely new set of programming and viewing concepts may be on the verge of breaking through in the marketplace. This panel will explore the opportunity for syndicators, networks, and cable operators to generate incremental revenue through the delivery of on-demand content other than movies. The panelists will discuss their views on how operators, networks and syndicators can work together to expand the revenue pie by offering more compelling content when consumers without cannibalizing existing revenue streams.

Jeffrey Binder is a Broadbus founder and serves as chairman of the board and chief executive officer. He was previously CEO of Magic Music, where he managed development of three generations of DRAM based server technology, overseeing the overall operations of the company from start-up to 30%+ market-share in just two years. He was formerly founding CEO of the Leading Golf Companies, successfully delivering frequency marketing client/server technology and systems in partnership with the top 500 golf courses in the US and major airlines, including American Airlines and TWA. Binder is a named inventor to several Broadbus patents and continues to collaborate and innovate with the Broadbus team. He has authored key vision documents published in major industry journals regarding television-on-demand (TOD®), and frequently presents at major audio and cable industry events. In addition, he serves on the boards of Greater Chicago Bank (a regional FDIC Banking), and FastenerOasis, Inc., (the e-commerce arm of one of the largest fastener distributors in the US). He is a member of NCTA, CTAM, SCTE and has been a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences since 1988.

Mary Coller, Senior Vice President, General Manager, SoapCity, Sony Pictures Digital Network’s: In the four years that Mary Coller has been at the helm of Sony Pictures Digital Network’s SoapCity (, her leadership has been instrumental in making SoapCity the Internet’s foremost distributor of content on soap operas, delivering up-to-the-minute news, exclusive coverage and serving as the home of official show sites. She has played a pivotal role in syndicating versions of SoapCity’s soap content to media giants such as AOL Time-Warner and Yahoo! Inc. Last year, Ms. Coller oversaw the launch of SoapCity’s download service, a service that allows broadband consumers the opportunity to download to their PC current-day soap opera episodes commercially uninterrupted. Current offerings from SoapCity’s download service include "The Young & the Restless," "Days of our Lives" and "As the World Turns." Before joining Sony Pictures Digital Networks, Ms. Coller was vice president and co-founder of Beatnik Inc., an interactive audio software and music development company she started with musician Thomas Dolby. Ms. Coller was responsible for taking the company through creative concept, to raising venture capital, and onto maintaining the day-to-day operations, finance, marketing, publicity and staff. In addition, she developed, negotiated and oversaw all business relationships for Beatnik, including deals with such major technology companies as Netscape, Microsoft’s WebTV, Sun Microsystems and others. Prior to Beatnik, Ms. Coller managed the careers of musicians and artists as the owner of Mary Coller Management, a personal management company she established in 1990. Todd Walker , Senior Vice President & General Manager, TV Guide Interactive: As senior vice president and general manager of TV Guide Interactive, Todd Walker is responsible for managing the all aspects of the cable industry’s leading interactive program guide service. Mr. Walker oversees the engineering and development, product development, strategic planning, product design, and operations functions for TV Guide Interactive. Mr. Walker joined TV Guide in 1993 as the division controller for TV Guide Networks (formerly Prevue Networks). He has held various positions in the company, ranging from the head of finance and administration to various product and division start-up roles, including the formation of TV Guide Online, TV Guide Data Services and most recently TV Guide Interactive. His contributions were key to the development of TV Guide Network’s digital file server network, which is used to distribute TV Guide Channel content to over 3,000 cable head ends. Prior to joining TV Guide, Mr. Walker held various finance positions in the energy and transportation industries, including Mapco Coal, where he was manager of Finance and Planning, and American Airlines’ Sabre Computer Services where he held various financial roles with a focus on communications and engineering. A graduate of Oklahoma Christian University with a degree in accounting, Mr. Walker also has an M.B.A in Finance from Southern Methodist University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Oklahoma Society of CPAs. He has served on several civic committees, including as a division team leader for the Tulsa Area United Way annual fund-raising campaign.
