With broadband entering the household from three or more sources, and all home information, communication, entertainment as well as utilities and appliances coming into the mix, the networked home is about to enter the mainstream of consumer consciousness. Each year, almost without notice, the technologies, which open the home to new products and services are being put in place. With the PC, the Set-top and the communications systems all making headway with advanced home services, progress in this market sector is finally taking center stage. Prior to his work in broadband, John managed Openwave's product marketing activities for its Multimedia Messaging Services Center (MMSC) and Unified Messaging products. Before joining Openwave in late 2000, John was employed by Ericsson as a Sr. Product Marketing Manager focusing on access gateway technologies for Ericsson's Data Networks group. He also served as a conference speaker on mobile Internet technologies and trends at industry conferences and tradeshows, including Supercomm, CTIA, and the National Communications Forum (NCF). Prior to Ericsson, John served in several senior engineering, marketing, and business development positions at Atlas Telecom and Unisys-Pulsepoint Communications (formerly Digital Sound Corporation), where he led product management of voicemail, voice response, and unified messaging solutions, including the network-wide deployment of voicemail at several incumbent local exchange carrier customers here in the US. John received his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from UC San Diego in 1983.Nancy Goguen is responsible for guiding overall marketing and positioning strategies for TIs Broadband Communications Group, which includes integrated signal processing and software solutions for cable, digital subscriber line (DSL), voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) and wireless networking. Previously, she was the vice president of marketing for Telogy Networks, acquired by TI in 1999. Prior to joining Telogy Networks, Goguen held several positions at Lucent Technologies including vice president, GSM offer and business management. Prior to Lucent Technologies, she held a wide range of positions at AT&T in marketing, product management, strategy and development. Ms. Goguen received a bachelorss degree in mathematics from Harvard University and a masters degree in computer science from the University of Pennsylvania. She regularly speaks on a wise range of broadband topics at industry events including the Connected Consumer Summit, Pulvers Annual IP Communications Executive Summit and China VoIP Conference. Mike Maples, Jr., Chief Strategist and Co-Founder, Motive Communicatio ns: As part of the founding team at Motive, Mike has served in several roles in the company, beginning as Motive's vice president of Marketing and then transitioning to general manager of the Corporate Products Group. Recently, he assumed the chief strategist role where he is responsible for defining Motive's strategic product, market, and technology direction. Mike's experience centers on market strategy, entry and management in the software industry. Before co-founding Motive, he spent three years at Tivoli Systems, most recently as director of product marketing. Prior to Tivoli Systems, Maples worked at Silicon Graphics as the Digital Media product marketing manager for the Indigo system and worked in business development and marketing communications. He earned a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering at Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.Dale (Ty) Roberts, Chief Technology Officer, Gracenote (formerly CDDB): Roberts join ed Gracenote (formerly CDDB) in November of 1998 when Gracenote acquired ION, a multimedia and music technology company that he founded in 1993. Roberts serves as Gracenotes chief strategist, providing technology direction and overseeing the creation of products and services that leverage the power of the Gracenote database to deliver multimedia content to consumers. He is Gracenotes representative to the Secure Digital Music Initiative (SDMI), organization that is chartered with establishing standards for digital music and music playing devices. While at ION, Roberts was the companys lead technologist and was widely recognized in the music industry as one of the inventors of enhanced CD technology. ION was an innovator in adding multimedia content to traditional audio CDs and produced some of the recording industrys first enhanced audio CD titles, including David Bowies "Jump" and "Headcandy" from Brian Eno. ION was also widely recognized as a leading provider of enhanced CD production tools utilized by recording and multimedia development companies. In September 1993, Bertlesmann Music Group acquired a 50 percent interest in ION and together created the first interactive record label. Prior to founding ION, Roberts was a founder and senior manager of LightSource, a software development company that produced multimedia and graphics editing software. He was also a senior engineer at Pixar and a creator of a number of award winning Apple-based music applications including "Studio Session" and "Jam Session."Stephen Paul, CEO of V1M: A Technology Management Consultant, St ephen Paul has developed a unique synthesis of expertise from the Technology, New Media, and traditional Media and Entertainment industries. From Record and Film Production to A.I. Technology and interrelated Computer Animation, to Digital Media Management, Indexing and Publishing systems, to Digital Rights Management and Digital Media Delivery systems, his career has consistently navigated the intersection of technology and media. A well recognized thought leader in the Technology Industry and an expert in the world of Digital Media Technologies, Steve frequently speaks at industry conferences and forums. He is also a contributor to specifications, standards, reference architectures, and working groups within industry associations, forums and standards bodies.Elliot Solomon, COO & Vice President of Business Development for iM Networks: Solomon brings more than fifteen years of entertainment industry experience to iM Networks. iM Networks was found on a simple premise -- deliver Internet audio without a PC with a consumer electronics-like experience. Users plug it in, turn it on, tune in, and out comes high quality, always-on, legally scrubbed Internet audio content. Prior to this, Solomon was a music producer and engineer for an eclectic array of artists, including John Waite, Dan Hill, Nils Lofgren and Lizzy Borden. Solomon also spent several years as a Regional Sales and Marketing Manager for Mike Fellen & Associates, a Southern California consumer electronics rep firm, whose clients included Hitachi, BASF, Sansui and Cerwin Vega. Solomon also serves on the advisory board of Intellectual Capital, L.P., a Pacific Northwest venture fund. Solomon's knowledge and diverse expertise in the entertainment industry enable him to bring a unique approach to the digital entertainment convergence arena. |
