| Tuesday, September 24 12:30 PM - 1:45 PM Session D: Mobile Hybrid Devices and Entertainment Content The hottest growth areas in the technology space are the wireless and PDA arenas and these sectors are evolving from simple communication and data management tools, transforming themselves into portals for content and entertainment. The relationships between the device manufacturer, the telco or gateway, the infrastructure provider, platform or protocol developer and finally the content provider can be best understood as huge interlocking systems of ventures, partnerships and syndication relationships. In this session, we will try to understand how these relationships are evolving and what the business models and marketplace of the wireless portals/PDAs and their content of the future will look like. Oseth, Senior Vice President, Corporate and Business Development, DataPlay: Prior to joining DataPlay, Mr. Oseth was President and CEO of Wholetree.com, a global e-business company that specialized in helping companies transact business over the Internet using their native language and culture. Prior to Wholetree.com, Mr. Oseth was Vice President of Business Development for Sony Electronics. He was instrumental in establishing Sony's Information Technology Company encompassing computer, software and Internet products. This company grew from concept to nearly $1 billion in revenues in less than 2 years. Prior to Sony, Mr, Oseth was President of Enhanced Memory Systems, Inc.,a subsidiary of Ramtron International Corporation and was also a founder of Protocol Corporation and XCAT Corporation. Mr. Oseth received his BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and his MBA from the University of St. Thomas. Ken Salzberg is a Business Development Manager for the Emerging Pl atforms Lab at Intel Labs. He is responsible for strategizing and expanding the wireless and internet media ecosystem for mobile devices, by creating innovative concept platforms and differentiating technology building blocks, enabling and expanding the number of compelling media types, making media easier to access, and enabling new business models. Areas of emphasis include video, audio, still images, and graphics. Mr. Salzberg has been at Intel for three years. Before joining Intel, Mr. Salzberg was a co-founder of a start-up that developed a browser based electronic design environment. This included support for design teams located around the globe as well as an electronic design portal. Additionally, Mr. Salzberg worked as a technical marketing manager for Mentor Graphics where he led a team in the development of design, component, and process management tools. Mr. Salzberg holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island.Greg Clayman, co-founder & VP of Marketing, UPOC: Prior to Upoc, Greg serv ed as Vice President at the Sterling Group in New York City. While at Sterling, he led brand strategy projects for a number of media, entertainment and retail companies including MTV Networks, Liberty Digital, and Levi's. Before Sterling Group, Greg worked at Bright Sun Consulting, a brand strategy start-up, where he developed positioning, corporate identity and communications strategies for Qwest Communications and Exxon. Greg graduated cum laude from Harvard College with a B.A. in English and American Literature.Chung Liu, Chief Technology Officer & Vice President Engineering, ACC ESS Systems America, Inc.: Mr. Liu is Chief Technology Officer, and Vice President of Engineering at ACCESS Systems America Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of ACCESS Co., Ltd. in Japan. Prior to his work at Palm, Chung was a Senior Systems Analyst for Maxitel (Telecom Italia Mobile) in Brazil. Earlier in his career, he held senior engineering positions at Geoworks and Claris Corporation. While at Geoworks, Mr. Liu was responsible for the architectural design and software project management of communication modules for the GEOS-SC operating system. Mr. Liu holds a B.S. in Electric Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.Matthew Bellows, Publisher, Wireless Gaming Review: Matthew has worked in telecom and the Internet since 1995. Before co-founding Wireless Gaming Review, Matthew was Director of Business Development for Engage (NASDAQ:ENGA). At Engage, Matthew managed the team responsible for 4,000 advertising contracts that drove $30 million in annual revenue. Before entering the Internet advertising world, Matthew was Vice President of Sales and Marketing at InterStep, a leading email services firm. Matthew received his MBA with high honors from the Olin School of Management at Babson College. |
