Representatives of the major music companies will describe the results of their launch of DualDisc and the outlook for future. John Trickett, Chairman & CEO, 5.1 CH, Moderator Leslie Cohen, Senior Vice President, Sony Music Entertainment Paul Bishow, Vice President, Universal Music Group Ted Cohen, Senior Vice President, EMIMusic John Trickett, Chairman & CEO, 5.1 CH: Mr. Trickett serves as the Pr esident and Chief Executive Officer of the 5.1 Entertainment Group. Mr. Trickett has many years of entrepreneurial and senior executive management experience. Prior to establishing the 5.1 Entertainment Group, Mr. Trickett was the founder and President/CEO of Sunquest Holidays, which became the largest wholesale travel company in the Western United States within two years of starting operations. Prior to starting Sunquest, he was a Senior Vice President of Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays. In addition to his corporate leadership experience, Mr. Trickett is an accomplished songwriter and musician in his own right. He has over 40 song titles to his credit, and in 1998 made a performance in the KIIS FM "Wango Tango" concert at Edison Field in Anaheim. He has recently completed the production of his own album - "Bleeding Angels", which will be released in 2004. Mr. Trickett is a voting member of the Recording Academy and holds full composer and publisher memberships in the Association of Composers, Artists and Publishers (ASCAP). He is also a member of the Board of Directors and President/Co-Chair of the DVD Audio Council.Leslie C. Cohen is the Senior Vice President of New Formats and Bu siness Development for SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT. In this role Ms. Cohen, who first joined the company in 1994, oversees the development and introduction of a wide range of products for the global music company, including DVD Video, Super Audio CD, and DualDisc, a new two-sided single disc product that mates DVD Video content and enhanced audio and on one side, with full length audio album on the other side. Since launching in the United States in 2004, DualDisc has met with critical and popular acclaim, selling in excess of 5 million units. Currently, Ms. Cohen is coordinating the music companys participation in Universal Media Disc (UMD), a format which is used in PSP players. UMD will enable SONY BMG to release full-length music-based videos, and other compelling programming. Ms. Cohen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from the Yale School of Management.Ted Cohen, SVP Digital Development and Distribution, EMIMusic: As Senior Vice President of Digital Development & Distribution for EMI Music, Ted Cohen oversees worldwide digital business development for this "big five" record company, which includes labels such as Capitol, Virgin, Angel/Blue Note, Parlophone and Chrysalis. Under Cohens guidance, EMI has led the industry with its initiatives in new technologies and new business models. In addition to seeking out, evaluating and executing business opportunities for the company, Cohen serves as both a strategist and key decision-maker for EMIs global new media and anti-piracy efforts. He has worked to establish company-wide digital policies, which have provided EMIs artists and labels a substantial advantage in the digital music arena. Cohen co-founded and served as Chairman of the groundbreaking Webnoize conferences. He currently chairs MidemNet, an international music/technology conference convened in Cannes each year. Additionally, Cohen consulted for clients such as Amazon.com, Microsoft, Universal Studios New Media, DreamWorks Records, Liquid Audio, Wherehouse Records/Checkout.com and various other entertainment, technology and new media organizations. Cohen also held senior management positions at both Warner Bros. Records and Philips Media. A 30-year industry veteran, Cohen serves the Board of Directors for the Neil Bogart Memorial Fund, Co-chairs the new media arm of the T.J. Martell Foundation, and lends his time and talents to music & technology education efforts such as the Grammy In The Schools Program. |
