In this session we will take a look at the entire foodchain of hardware and software that is being developed in this rollout. From the broadband technology that connects the global networks and the home, the headend servers and services to the set-top options, the IPTV system will have access into millions of homes. IPTV may well become the broadband backbone to the entire country. In this session we will find out what that future looks like and what it will take to make it happen. In this capacity, Corman is responsible for extending Microsoft TV into a total end-to-end solution for network operators around the world. Corman is responsible for developing and managing marketing, product and development relationships with strategic partners for Microsoft TV. These include OEMs, independent hardware and software vendors, and various solution providers and systems integrators for video on demand (VOD), electronic programming guide, conditional access and subscriber billing management. Prior to joining Microsoft in March 2001, served as general manager, Interactive Digital Systems at Mitsubishi Electronics America. In this capacity, Corman proposed, launched and staffed the entire division including product marketing, sales and technical directors. He also started a commercial VOD business unit for Mitsubishi that delivered VOD and Internet browsing over the TV to hotels, cruise ships and hospitals. Corman also spent 15 years in the computing industry with Digital Equipment Corporation (now Compaq). Corman is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and Association for Computing Machinery. He holds a bachelors of science in mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Mark C. Gray, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Office, Kase nna: Mr. Gray joined Kasenna after a successful tenure with Pluto Technologies where he was founder, Chairman, and CEO. Prior to the founding of Pluto, he served as Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Chyron Corporation, a publicly traded corporation listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Mr. Gray joined Chyron in 1994 and under his direction, it achieved record growth in both revenues and net income. From August 1989 through June 1993, Mr. Gray held several senior executive positions at Sony Corporation of America, starting as President of the Computer Peripherals Systems Company. In April 1990, he became President of Sony Communications Products Company, which included Sony Broadcast and Sony Pro-Products divisions. At the time of his departure from Sony, he served as Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Business and Professional Group, which included all Sony professional electronics companies and was responsible for approximately $1 billion in revenues. From 1986 through 1989, Mr. Gray was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Pinnacle Systems Inc., which subsequently made a successful public offering. Prior to 1986, he was General Manager of the Studio Products Division of Ampex Corporation having spent previous years with the Harris Corporation and Tektronix, Inc. His career in broadcast electronics followed a successful career in television production and he was responsible for many programs that won numerous awards and honors including three Emmys. Mr. Gray holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tennessee, a Master of Arts Degree in Communication from St. Louis University, and is a graduate of the School of Executive Development of the Babson College graduate school of business. Also, as an avocation, Mr. Gray is a US Coast Guard licensed Master.Bo Ferm, GM of the Americas, Irdeto Access: Bo Ferm joined Irdeto Ac cess in 2003 in San Diego as GM, The Americas. Prior to Irdeto, Bo was with Philips Electronics for 25 years, most recently with Digital Networks for 8 years in various management positions for the MPEG-2 systems activity, set-top box group and content protection unit. Prior to that he had several international postings with Philips: 6 years in Hong Kong as software manager for Asia Pacific, 3 years in Kuala Lumpur as senior consultant, 2 _ years in Los Angeles as marketing director for the In-Flight Entertainment unit and 2 years in Mexico with Philips Data Systems. A native of Sweden, he holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Computer Science.Josette Bonte, Managing Director, Broadband Services, RHK: Dr. Josette B onte is retained by RHK as an Executive Affiliate servicing the firms broadband content and services advisory practice and research programs. Dr. Bonte has twelve years of experience as an executive working in the film and television production and distribution industries followed by ten years in new media and telecommunications. In the eighties, Dr. Bonte served as Executive Director of Unifrance Film, where she represented the French motion picture and television industry in Hollywood for eight years. She subsequently founded EuroScreen Partners, a film production company capitalized by European cable operators and banks. Dr. Bonte most recently served as Senior Vice President, Business Development, for online games company Media Station, Inc. where she headed the technology licensing and broadband affiliate relations department. She previously worked with the PanAmSat Net/36 team, where she concentrated on broadband content strategy and customer acquisition. In 1994, she joined US West as Head of Strategic Marketing, Entertainment and Interactive Services, where she participated in the companys early interactive media and VoD trials and became the companys liason with the Hollywood entertainment industry for content licensing. Dr. Bonte received an M.F.A from the UCLA School of Film and Television and a Ph.D. in Telecommunications and New Media from the Sorbonne.Rick Ducey, Ph.D., Executive Vice President, Strategic Advisory Group, BIA Financial Network: Rick leads BIAfn's Strategic Advisory Group which provide strategic planning, business modeling, market assessments, feasiblity analyses and other advisory services to companies wishing to evaluate and improve their situation. BIAfn uses its Media Ecosystem Matrix model to develop a structured, systems view of the digital media marketplace to understand how its client can best be positioned for success. BIAfn was formed in 1983 and offers a range of merchant banking, financial and strategic advisory, research and technology services. Prior to joining BIAfn, Rick was a long-time executive at the National Association of Broadcasters where he ran the Research and Information Group. He has taught management and technology courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels at George Mason University, George Washington University, University of Maryland and Michigan State University. He also worked in cable and broadcast radio earlier in his career. |
