Kang, Esq., Partner, Sidley Austin Brown & Wood LLP, Moderator Chris Schairbaum, World Wide Business Manager, Portable Audio/I nfotainment, Texas Instruments: In the 6 years he has been with the company, he has managed product development, strategic marketing and new business development initiatives for several of TIs custom and mass market-focused product lines, most notably in the areas of mass storage and digital audio. Chris, a music enthusiast, is ideally suited for TI's Internet Audio Division, where he currently oversees customer relations, marketing initiatives and business development. Chris graduated from the University of Dayton with a degree in electrical engineering.Simon Wegerif is General Manager of Philips Semiconductors' Consu mer Businesses USA. He has been based in the US for the past six years, first leading the Company's marketing activities for ATSC digital TV reception and has been responsible for the past 3 years for growing the Nexperia media processor business as a key building block for the Connected Planet. Prior to joining Philips in 1991, he was with the UK BBC's Research and Development activities, where he specified & developed the first ASIC to enable an all digital audio broadcast chain. He holds both Engineering and Marketing / Management degrees.John LeMoncheck, Vice President of Consumer Electronics Products, S ilicon Image, Inc.: As Vice President of Consumer Electronics Products at Silicon Image, Mr. LeMoncheck has responsibility for all consumer electronics product, market and business strategy development and execution. He hails from TeraLogic, where he was vice president of software and systems engineering, directing all platform and software implementations for TeraLogic's digital television solutions. He also ran the customer support and professional service organizations. Prior to joining TeraLogic, LeMoncheck was a member of the founding team at Arithmos, Inc. where he was vice president of engineering and developed Arithmos' line of display processors targeted at the flat panel market. More recently, he directed The LEGO Company's West Coast design center, which was focused on high-tech toys. Earlier in his career, LeMoncheck held staff engineering and design engineering positions at Synaptics, Inc. and NCR Corporation, respectively. LeMoncheck is an active member of the Society for Information Display, having helped form the group's Electronic Device subcommittee. He has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from U.C. San Diego and spent several years researching VLSI for imaging and pattern recognition applications at Caltech.Jack P. Guedj, Vice President of Video Products Marketing, Cirrus Logic, Inc.: Jack P. Guedj joined Cirrus in April 2003 as vice president of Video Products Marketing, where he is responsible for worldwide strategic and tactical marketing for DVD and Video Recorder Technologies. Guedj joins Cirrus with many years of video marketing and sales experience from National Semiconductor, Faroudja and most recently at TVIA. Based in Fremont, Calif., Guedj will lead Cirrus market efforts in serving the high-growth digital video market segments including DVD players, DVD recorders, hard-drive-based digital video recorders, DVD receivers where Cirrus has embarked upon a comprehensive silicon-to-software platform strategy. Prior to joining Cirrus, Guedj served as president of TVIA, a leading provider of streaming media gateway ICs for residential broadband, information access devices and digital TV markets. Guedj also served as president of HTMC, where he oversaw a consulting business for CEOs, and was vice president of Worldwide Sales and Marketing at Faroudja. Guedj also served as director of Digital Media/Broadband SMS at National Semiconductor, where he directed Nationals Digital Media/Broadband Strategic Market Segment and marketing and sales activities for the broadband set-top box, cable modem, home gateway, DVD and digital TV markets. Guedj graduated in 1982 from Physique et Chimie de Paris, and received a DEA degree from the University of Paris I in 1983. Guedj obtained his masters degree from the University of California Los Angeles Graduate School of Management. Walter Petticrew, Marketing Manager, Wireless and Mobile Systems Group (WMSG), Motorola: As Marketing Manager for WMSG, Petticrew is responsible for the creation of market direction, strategy analysis and selection for product extension opportunities of the division's Innovation Convergence platforms and iMX applications processor solutions. He leads the Group scenario planning of wireless data services and the business models to capitalize these opportunities. Prior to joining Motorola, Petticrew held positions in product management, market development and sales at The Genre Group, HP and VTEL.Daniel F. Vivoli is Executive Vice President of Marketing for NVIDIA. From Oct ober 1988 to December 1997, Mr. Vivoli held various positions at Silicon Graphics, Inc., a computing technology company, and was Vice President of Marketing before joining NVIDIA in 1997 as Vice President of Product Marketing. From 1983 to 1988, Mr. Vivoli held various marketing positions at Hewlett-Packard Company. Mr. Vivoli holds a B.S.E.E. degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.Peter Kang is a Partner in the San Francisco office of the global law firm of Sidley Austin Brown & Wood LLP. Mr. Kang joined Sidleys Intellectual Property practice group in early 2003, devoted to serving the IP and related legal services needs of technology clients. Mr. Kang counsels clients in patent disputes; technology transfer and IP licensing; strategic IP portfolio development; patent opinions; and IP enforcement and litigation. Mr. Kang has served on the in-house patent committee for a major biomedical company, and serves as an International Advisor for Global Venture Consultants. Mr. Kang is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and is a member of the California bar. Mr. Kang works with major semiconductor and electronics clients in IP matters in the US, Asia, and Europe. Mr. Kang also represents clients in complex litigation and trials of IP lawsuits nationwide, including federal court patent jury trial experience and patent trial experience before the International Trade Commission. With over a dozen years experience in Silicon Valley, Mr. Kang has represented semiconductor companies (fabless and manufacturers), semiconductor equipment manufacturers, semiconductor IP design houses, and chip packaging companies in disputes involving DRAM, FPGA, CPLD, microcontroller, DSP, CAM, power IC/analog, ASIC, and process technologies. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Kang was Managing Partner of the San Francisco Office of Skjerven Morrill LLP. Earlier in his career, Mr. Kang served as Law Clerk for the Hon. Ernest C. Torres, now Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island. Prior to law school, Mr. Kang worked as a software engineer for a biomedical research organization at Brown University. Mr. Kang served on the Board of Directors of the Asian Pacific Bar Association of Silicon Valley. He is an award-winning author and frequent speaker at industry and legal conferences. He received both a B.A. in Classics and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University, where he won the Fairclough Award and the Classics Department Senior Prize. Mr. Kang also received a Certificate of Merit from the University of Londons Institut Brittanique in Paris. Mr. Kang received his J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University.
