Will anyone be able to remember a day when they couldnt watch a football game on their mobile device or watch the news? Want to check out a movie? Why not tune in via a mobile device while youre waiting on line at the airport? Why not watch The Apprentice in the car on the mobile? Seems logical. In fact, seems like an idea that should have always been around. While thats the way we may look back on it five years from today, but today we are proud to bring together a group of executives from content and mobile companies who are now making this idea possible. Boyd has 15 years of experience in wireless communications, focusing on wireless content over last five years. Before joining QUALCOMM in 2003, Boyd served as CEO of Wireless Multimedia Solutions and as VP of business development at Summus, Inc. From 1989 through 1996, he held multiple management positions at IBM, receiving a "General Managers Award" for launching the first PCMCIA Wireless Modem. Boyd holds a BS degree in electrical engineering from North Carolina State University and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Louis Gump, Vice President, Mobile, The Weather Channel Interac tive: Louis Gump, vice president of mobile at The Weather Channel Interactive (TWCi), has responsibility for all of the companys branded offerings for mobile consumers, including downloadable wireless Doppler radar applications, multimedia offerings, messaging products, and wireless Web sites. During his tenure, TWCi has launched various products such as made-for-mobile video and on-demand messaging, and has continued to integrate mobile offerings into weather.com, the Web site of The Weather Channel. Previously, Gump served as director of business development and director of mobile products and services for TWCi. In those capacities, he had responsibility for distribution relationships for weather.com, as well as operating responsibility for wireless products and services. Prior to joining TWCi in 2001, Gump was director of business development at ExpoExchange and a product manager at 3MC. He also served as a business strategy consultant for Accenture. Gump serves as vice chairman and treasurer of The Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) and is active in other industry associations including the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association (CTIA) and the Online Publishers Association (OPA). A native of Johnson City, TN, Gump received his MBA from the University of Virginia and bachelors degree from Duke University. Chris Marlowe, Editorial Director, Digital Media, The Hollywood Reporter: Chris Marlowe breaks news and reports on trends of interest to the growing segment of the entertainment industry that utilizes emerging technologies. Her interviews with such notables as Bill Gates, Carly Fiorina, Rob Glaser and Craig Barrett along with her expertise provide insights unavailable anywhere else. She also is a respected pioneer in covering emerging entertainment platforms, including video games, mobile applications, home networking, interactive television, and all of the other new ways creators have of connecting with their audience. such, Chris is in demand as an authority on entertainment. She is a regularly scheduled guest on the United Kingdom's BBC Radio and Ireland's NewsTalk 106 and also has appeared on CNN, MSNBC and elsewhere. Before joining The Hollywood Reporter, Chris lived in London and specialized in music by contributing celebrity profiles, feature articles, news and reviews to a wide variety of publications. Dr. Phillip Alvelda - Chairman and CEO, MobiTV, Inc.: Dr. Alvelda is the CEO , Chairman, and cofounder of MobiTV, Inc., Previously, Dr. Alvelda was the founding CEO and CTO of The MicroDisplay Corporation, a manufacturer of ultra-high resolution miniature displays for portable systems and low cost HDTVs. Prior to MicroDisplay, Dr. Alvelda was a developer of spacecraft hardware and software systems for image processing and data compression at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Dr. Alvelda holds a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Cornell University and received his Masters and PhD degrees in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.Bill Sanders, Vice President Programming, Sony Pictures Digital Sales and Marketing: As Vice President of Programming for Sony Pictures Digital Sales and Marketing, a division of Sony Pictures Digital, Bill Sanders oversees the worldwide programming strategy to bring video content into the mobile marketplace. Most recently, Sanders served as President of Pervasive Media where he consulted businesses which focused on entertainment content for mobile devices; in particular, video for cell phones. Prior to that position, Sanders was Senior Vice President for Big Ticket Television, a Paramount/Viacom company, where he oversaw all current network and syndicated programming and spearheaded Big Tickets entry into enhanced television. Throughout his career, Sanders has served as Vice President of Original Programming for HBO and supervising producer for the channels award winning comedy series "Dream On". In addition, he has held positions at Universal Television, Warner Brothers Television, and ABC. Sanders has a bachelor of arts degree in communication from Stanford University.Greg Clayman, Vice President, Wireless Strategy and Operations, MTV Networks: As Vice President of Wireless Strategy & Operations for MTV Networks, Greg is responsible for managing the overall strategic direction and day-to-day business and product development, operations, and partnership management aspects of the mobile media business for the MTV, Vh1, CMT, Comedy Central, and LOGO brands. Prior to MTV, Greg co-founded Upoc Networks and served as its Vice President of Marketing, Sales, and Business Development. Founded at the end of 1999, Upoc has since become one of the top wireless media, marketing and community providers in the US - over a million consumers use its services, and it accounts for almost 5% of all the SMS traffic in the United States. |
