In this session we will take a look at the entire foodchain of hardware and software that is being developed in this rollout. From the broadband technology that connects the global networks and the home, the headend servers and services to the set-top options, the IPTV system will have access into millions of homes. IPTV may well become the broadband backbone to the entire country. In this session we will find out what that future looks like and what it will take to make it happen. Intel Corp., speaker to be announced Fred Dawson, Editor & Publisher, Screenplays, Moderator Bill Correll, Corporate Development, Broadband & Digital Media Technologies, Sun Microsystems, Inc: Bill Correll is responsible for corporate alliances and strategic investments across a range of substantive areas at Sun, including broadband and wireless entertainment services, and telecommunications infrastructure. A fifteen year veteran of the industry, he has spearheaded Sun's market and product efforts in digital television, video over IP, multiplayer online games, digital asset and rights management, and content workflow. Bill has appeared on numerous industry panels and forums as an expert in digital media and telecommunication trends, technology and business models Seth Kenvin is vice president of strategic marketing and corporate development for BigBand Networks. He manages the companys corporate and product communications, as well as strategic transactions such as financings and acquisitions. Kenvin joined BigBand Networks from the venture capital firm Cedar Fund, and was involved in the founding of both organizations. Previously, he was a venture capitalist for Venrock Associates, an editor for The Red Herring magazine, and an investment banker for Bear, Stearns & Co. Kenvin holds bachelors and masters degrees in engineering from Cornell University, and an MBA from Stanford University. He serves as treasurer and a board member for the Silicon Valley / Pacific Northwest chapter of the Cable & Telecommunications Association of Marketing (CTAM).Paolo Pastorino holds a degree in Physics (M.S.) from the Univ ersity of Torino, and a Master in Telecommunications and Information Technology from COREP/SSGRR, Italy. His experience ranges from the design of optoelectronic devices to advanced residential/SOHO networking solutions. He managed several projects dealing with residential/SOHO networks, terminals and services, test beds for the delivery of broadband services to the home, prototypes of advanced STB/RG, home terminals and network nodes. He is author of several papers about home networking and speaker to many international conferences. He is currently on leave from Telecom Italia to cover the role of CTO-CBO of HGI.Sam Pemberton is President & CEO of California company Softel-USA, and as such is responsible for creating the vision and strategic direction for the company. Having worked for the UK-based Softel Group, in a number of pivotal strategic roles, Sam span off Softel-USA in 2001 to dedicate his energy to the Americas. Since start-up Softel-USAs XDS division has become the de facto supplier of caption and XDS preparation technology for North America, as well as a leading supplier of transmission equipment to that sector. Meanwhile, Softel-USAs iTV division has established a reputation for offering robust, reliable and yet visionary systems to the interactive television market. Sam holds Bachelor degrees in Computer Science and in Economics from Manchester (England) and an MBA from Reading (England). Having opened Softel-USA's Atlantic office in 2003, he lives in Darien, CT with his wife and son.Terri Richardson, Vice President, Product and Market Management, C-C OR Solution Group: Terri Richardson is responsible for the development of the C-COR Solution Group products, a set of integrated, application-oriented IP solutions that meet open standards and interoperability for efficiently deploying advertising, On Demand, VoIP, and high-speed data. Prior to C-COR, Ms. Richardson served as vice president, product and market management at nCUBE where she was responsible for the development and deployment of nCUBEs video-on-demand and advertising insertion products. Since the early trial period of VOD in 1994, Ms. Richardson has worked in the field of interactive television services. She was formerly senior director for business development at Oracle Corporations Interactive Television Division. Her background includes considerable experience in business development and marketing in the telecommunications and computer industries. Prior to joining Oracle, Ms. Richardson spent 13 years with Digital Equipment Corporation. Ms. Richardson is a graduate of Duke University. |
