Mobile Gaming Experience - the Next Generation in Games & Portable Devices
As the portable games industry evolves into a global mobile gaming experience, the confluence of enhanced handsets and platforms, the increasing broadband delivery infrastructure and the acceptance on the part of the consumer, presents a mobile universe of untold possibilities. To this point, the games industry has only just begin to explore the cutting edge technologies in developing mobile games and device sophistication – it is just emerging from its first generation. With that in mind, one can only imagine what the world of mobile games as a consumer experience will look like in two or three years. Mobile gaming and the portable device is the killer combination in the making and in this session, we begin to explore what that future world will look like.

Larry Berkin is the director of developer marketing for PalmSource, Inc., responsible for all marketing related activities for the PalmSource developer community, including developer co-marketing programs and the PalmSource Applications Directory. Prior to joining PalmSource, Berkin founded an educational software company while still in college that shipped one of the first 10 products to launch in conjunction with the Apple Macintosh in 1984. He has also held several senior management positions in product development, marketing and business development at companies including Broderbund Software, Island Graphics, and Excite@Home. In addition, Berkin founded his own video games company that produced games for LucasArts, Sega and 3DO. Berkin has a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a master’s degree from Duke University.

Robert Tercek, Executive VP Programming / Chief Strategy Officer, (M)FORMA: (M)FORMA’s partnership alliances and content strategy are managed by Robert Tercek, an 18 year veteran of the digital media industry. Tercek previously served in executive management roles at PacketVideo, Sony Pictures Entertainment, MTV: Music Television and 7th Level. He has supervised the development and production of entertainment content and services for every digital platform, including satellite and cable television, narrow- and broadband Internet, game consoles and PC CD ROM, and wireless networks. His credits include some of the most successful interactive entertainment titles, including the online editions of Jeopardy!, Wheel of Fortune, Trivial Pursuit, The Dating Game, and the Monty Python PC game series.





Sandra G. Myers, Business Development Executive, Digital Media for IGS, IBM: Sandra Myers has been with IBM for 20 years, leading a broad range of projects, including sales, sales management, service business development, marketing and developing business partner relationships. In her current role, Myers is responsible for identifying and developing the online games business for IBM. This includes market place validation and short incubations to launch emerging businesses quickly. Prior to her current position, Myers served as the small medium business western region area sales executive for the emerging and competitive and netgeneration businesses and directed a team of senior business development executives. During her tenure at IBM, she has also served as client executive in both sector and SMB business units and has more than eight years experience in the distribution sector. Myers earned a master’s degree in marketing from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, B.C.) and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Concordia University (Montreal, Quebec).

Anders Evju, Vice President & General Manager, North America, Digital Bridges: Anders Evju has extensive market leadership experience in wireless data and Internet integration with more than twelve years of wireless telecommunications experience. Prior to joining Digital Bridges, Anders was with MobileSpring as a co-founder and Vice President of Business Development. He has U.S. wireless carrier background from Omnipoint Communications, where he was responsible for strategic planning of Wireless Internet Solutions. This included the planning for overall wireless data strategy, mobile portal development, strategic Internet alliances, and business strategy. Anders gained extensive European telecom experience during his three years in Norway at NetCom GSM, where he was Director of Business Development and responsible for the initial planning, development and commercial launch of Mother, one of the world's first mobile portals, as well as the development of content based text messaging products. Major launches included the first commercial launch of SMS-chat over text-TV, downloadable ringtones/icons, and calendar/e-mail wireless integration. Anders was educated at West Virginia University, and has attended the MBA program at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA.

Anup Murarka, Senior Director, Macromedia: Anup Murarka is senior director at Macromedia. Murarka is responsible for a worldwide team that assists in driving strategic initiatives in the Mobile and Devices group. Murarka comes to Macromedia from OpenTV, where he was involved in all aspects of OpenTV's solution, offering as an active spokesperson for the company with customers, technology and financial analysts and industry events. Prior to Open TV, Murarka was vice president at Spyglass, Inc., holding management roles in engineering, professional services and sales. Murarka has also held management positions at technology companies including Apple Computer, The 3DO Company and SurfWatch.

Steve Palley,
Associate Editor, GameSpot Mobile: If you've read Wireless Gaming Review or GameSpot Mobile in the past year, chances are that you've happened upon one of Steve's mobile gaming reviews, previews or articles. Steve has served as the editor of WGR since January 2004. In his time as editor, he has doubled the premiere mobile gaming site's editorial output, administered the mobile games industry's first awards show, and covered numerous trade shows . After WGR became a property of CNET Networks and GameSpot in April 2004, he relocated to San Francisco to launch GameSpot Mobile, which has since become one of the most popular mobile gaming destinations on the Internet. Before working at WGR and GameSpot, Steve earned a B.A. in History from Dartmouth College.
