As consumer offerings via the set-top, from broadband, interactive TV and DTV emerge, the choices in "middleware," that solutions that make the content useful and dynamic for the TV viewer become more vital. Morgan Guenther, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Airplay Network, Inc.: Prior to AirPlay, Morgan served as President of TiVo, a position he held from 2001 - 2003, where he was responsible for the companys consumer service and technology licensing businesses. Between 1999 and 2001, Morgan was a Vice President and Senior Vice President at Tivo, with overall responsibility for the Companys commercial and strategic deals, including alliances with partners in the satellite, cable, consumer electronics, technology development and broadband spaces. Additionally he oversaw the TiVo Entertainment Group and TiVo Studios business units, with responsibility for the Companys advertising, commerce, content delivery, audience measurement and other service related revenue streams. Morgan holds J.D. and B.A. degrees from the University of Colorado and an M.B.A. from the University of San Francisco. He also serves on the boards of directors of Integral Development, a provider of internet based electronic trading systems, Avvenu, a leading provider of media routing and managed peer-to-peer content distribution technology, and Tier Technologies, a financial transaction processing and system integration services company.
Joe Franzetta, Senior Vice President, Programmer Sales, TANDBERG Television: As Senior Vice President, Programmer Sales at TANDBERG Television, Joe Franzetta oversees the company's sales and business development efforts with broadcast and cable networks in the Americas. He is also responsible for TANDBERG Televisions global content business. In this capacity, Mr. Franzetta works with content owners around the world to add interactivity to their programming. Mr. Franzetta joined TANDBERG Television through the companys acquisition of interactive television provider GoldPocket Interactive. As Executive Vice President, Corporate Development, he was instrumental in building GoldPockets market-leading content business, partnering with several of the worlds largest media companies to deliver more than 20,000 hours of interactive television programming. Before joining GoldPocket, Mr. Franzetta spent three years as Senior Vice President, Corporate Development and Strategy at Mixed Signals Technologies, Inc., a leading iTV technology and services company. At Mixed Signals, Mr. Franzetta managed all business development and strategy efforts, including key customer relationships and technical partnerships. Mr. Franzetta also has ten years of corporate legal experience, most recently as Vice President, Corporate Legal Department at Sony Pictures Entertainment and, prior to that, as Partner, Corporate Department at Katten Muchin & Zavis in Los Angeles and Chicago. Mr. Franzetta holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Political Science from Allegheny College. He is licensed to practice law in California and Illinois.
Jodie McAfee is senior vice president of Corporate Development and Marketing at The Media Group and is responsible for focusing on corporate strategy, new business development and client relationships, as well as all functions relating to marketing and corporate communications for Turner Media Group and its operating divisions, The Networks Group and Turner Advertising Group. Prior to TMG, McAfee served as managing partner and vice president of Content Acquisitions at Cayde & Associates, LCC, where he was responsible for the development and distribution of niche broadband video channels. Previously, McAfee served as vice president of Worldwide Marketing for Crown Media International, parent of The Hallmark Channels international arm, where he was responsible for all affiliate and consumer marketing and public relations initiatives. He has also held positions at Soundbite Communications and Columbia Tri-Star Television.
Colin Dixon, Senior Analyst & IPTV Practice Manager, Specialt y: Enhanced TV Applications: Mr. Dixon brings a wealth of knowledge on the rich media, DTV and IPTV spaces to The Diffusion Group. He has held senior executive positions at Microsoft/WebTV, Liberate and Oracle where he was responsible for technology and business teams delivering to the Cable, Satellite and IPTV industries. Over the last 16 years he has led various corporate departments including engineering, business development, product and program management and marketing. Recently, Mr. Dixon has been consulting with a number of companies on a variety of projects. For one of the most prominent cable companies in the world he did a 360o report on a European Satellite operators Guide and Interactive television businesses. For a Korean DVB-MHP and OCAP middleware provider he has been acting as an Executive Advisor on strategy and business development including presenting at several shows and conferences on their behalf. In his consulting practice he focuses on business alignment, market strategy, business development, contract negotiation and company evangelism. He has just released an in-depth report called Program Guides at the Crossroads: The IPG Gets Personal. Mr. Dixon graduated from the University of Reading in England with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He holds a Masters in Engineering from the University of Florida and has post-graduate business education experience from Stanford. He is the author of many opinion pieces as well as books and magazine articles and is an accomplished speaker including presentations at major industry shows such as NAB and IBC.
Bill Niemeyer, Chief of Analysis and Research, DiMA Group: Bill Niemeye r is the Chief of Analysis and Research of The DiMA Group. Bill provides DiMA Group clients and program members with research, information, analysis and insights to assist them in making critical tactical and strategic decisions regarding DVRs, VOD and other advanced TV services. Bill has been in the interactive and new media industry since 1991. Previous to joining The DiMA Group, Bill founded Centrimedia, a consultancy focused on DVR, VOD and Interactive TV and their impacts on television industry business models. His clients there included Fortune 100 firms and investment funds. Prior to founding Centrimedia, Bill was a key member of the executive team at Spiderdance, a leading provider of infrastructure and technology to television networks for creating and operating interactive TV programming. Venture-funded Spiderdance developed and deployed six groundbreaking and award-winning ITV enabled series for TV networks including "Weakest Link" for NBC, "No Boundaries" for WB and "webRIOT" for MTV. Bill has also been a member of the team at venture-funded firms in PC/platform gaming and 3D virtual community technologies. Bill is a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. He is a regular panel moderator and speaker at industry events including the Consumer Electronics Show, NAB, Digital Hollywood, the European Broadcast Union PVR Seminar in Geneva and the Siemens PVR Outlook Conference in Munich.
Meredith Flynn-Ripley, Chief Executive Officer, Integra5: Meredith is a 20 year softwar e industry veteran whose career spans a wide range of executive and leadership positions in the broadband infrastructure and applications space. Prior to joining Integra5, Meredith served as president & CEO of three private software companies in the Boston area: Stargus, which was acquired by C-COR, Seaport Software Solutions, which was acquired by Softricity, and Into Networks. Before her tour on the broadband supplier side, Meredith worked with several telecom providers. She was a founding member of Road Runner, the high speed data joint venture of Time Warner, MediaOne (now Comcast), Microsoft and Compaq (now HP), where she served as vice president of corporate development and vice president of product management and affiliate relations. She also served as vice president of product development at MediaOne Broadband Internet Services, and as head of content strategy for US WEST Communications Interactive Television group. In her early career, Meredith pioneered the interactive media and technology space at Ogilvy & Mather Interactive, working with clients such as American Express, General Foods and AT&T in the online and multimedia arenas.
Tejpaul Bhatia is the founder of Tej Media Networks, Inc., a soon to be defined entertainment company. Tejpaul was most recently a senior manager of international business strategy for ESPN New Media. He was responsible for identifying new business opportunities, increasing distribution and usage of ESPN's video platforms, and extending ESPN's new media products globally. Tejpaul joined ESPN in 2002 to build the underlying infrastructure for acquiring and distributing video for multiple digital platforms, and was integral in conceiving, developing and distributing ESPN360, the companys customizable broadband service. Prior to ESPN, Tejpaul co-founded Media Strategy Partners, LLC, a media asset management consulting company that continues to serve US broadcasters. Before starting Media Strategy Partners, he was a consultant at Scient and then at Sekani, where he served as a digital media architect for professional sports leagues and the Olympics. Tejpaul holds a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Columbia University. He is an active member of the Make-A-Wish foundation as a wish-granter and a member of the New Leadership Council. He also volunteers internationally with GlobeAware. Tejpaul is involved in entertainment industry diversity initiatives like OASA and NAMIC.
