Craig Shapiro, Head of Content Strategy and Acquisition, HELIO: As head of content strategy and acquisition at HELIO Craig Shapiro develops strategic partnerships and negotiates licensing arrangements with leading brands and entertainment properties to create a distinct experience for HELIO members. Prior to joining HELIO, Craig served as vice president of sales and marketing at Proteus, a leading developer and publisher of mobile content. At Proteus, he spearheaded development of an exclusive partnership with ABC television to launch their direct-to-consumer mobile portal http://www.abc.com/mobile/ and secured progressive content agreements with prominent media companies, such as Bunim/Murray Productions, Clear Channel Entertainment, Discovery Channel, FOX Television, Granada America, HBO, NBC and Univision Communications. Craig received his B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis in Political Science. He is originally from Washington, DC.
Daniel Tibbets, Executive Vice President, GoTV Labs, GoTV Networks: Daniel Ti bbets brings substantial traditional and new media experience in the entertainment field to GoTV. Prior to joining GoTV, Tibbets spent 16 years at the vortex of the entertainment industry and has held senior executive roles in production and development for companies such as CBS Enterprises, Fireworks Television, Inc., Papazian-Hirsch Entertainment and Twentieth Television. At Twentieth Television, Tibbets ran FOXLAB, Inc. where he co-created and developed the first ever mobisode. In addition, Tibbets executive produced the first two original content mobisodes Love and Hate and Sunset Hotel, which launched in February 2005. Tibbets also developed the first convergence program to air on broadcast television at FOXLAB. In addition to his work at Twentieth Television, Tibbets is credited with the development and sale of the HBO series ROME from his work at Papazian-Hirsch. Tibbets graduated from Arizona State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing with an emphasis in International marketing and business.
Jeremy Toeman, VP Market Development, Sling Media: Jeremy is an accomplished speaker and an expert in the digital media convergence space. He has designed numerous industry-award winning products and is presently the VP of Market Development for Sling Media, Inc, the makers of the Slingbox. Jeremy frequently represents and serves as a spokesperson Sling Media at consumer, trade, and industry events in the field of convergence technology. In 2004, Jeremy joined Sling Media as VP of Product Management, and was responsible for guiding development of the Slingbox from conception to launch. After a successful product launch, he assumed his current role where he acts as an evangelist and is responsible for building new vertical market opportunities and partnerships. Jeremy is found not only at events, but online at various Web communities and blogs, promoting Sling Medias highly visible word-of-mouth marketing efforts. Toeman has worked in the field of digital media convergence, bridging technology and consumers for over eight years. In the late 1990s he founded Palmtastik, a Web portal designed to help early PalmPilot users get the most out of their devices. In 1999, Toeman co-founded Mediabolic, a software company who provides digital media networking technology to consumer electronics and computer manufacturers. Jeremy holds a B.S. in Economics and Industrial Management from Carnegie Mellon University.
Erik A. Smith, VP, Business Development and Programming, MobiTV: Erik Smith is responsible for developing and implementing programming strategy and building key relationships within the content industry on behalf of MobiTV. In this position, Smith works closely with the industrys leading content and application providers to create programming strategies and deliver content that enables mobile and internet service providers worldwide to offer live television content to their customers. Smith has an extensive knowledge and expertise in innovative content programming and next generation delivery platforms. Prior to MobiTV, Smith held top positions with Digital Lifestyles Group, Motive Communications, DirecTV, Liberate Technologies and Sun Microsystems. As Vice President of Programming at Digital Lifestyles Group, Smith built the strategy and acquired the content for a series of lifestyle devices targeted at the youth market. At Motive, he developed strategy, programs and forged partnerships to effectively enable broadband service providers to deliver content to consumers over broadband. During his tenure at DirecTV, Smith was responsible for the strategy and delivery of next generation, advanced digital satellite applications. Smith also launched and managed Liberates PopTV program, the largest developers program focused on interactive television, and created, built and managed the original Java Developer Program during his time at Sun Microsystems.
CHRIS GORE is an author, opinionated columnist, television host and filmmaker who has built a solid reputation as the brutally honest founder of the legendary Film Threat. Chris began his independent filmmaking career with the cult short Red and also co-wrote and produced the feature comedy My Big Fat Independent Movie. He is also the author of four books including The Ultimate Film Festival Survival Guide, which has fast become the bible for filmmakers on the festival circuit. In addition, he is the film expert on the G4 TV program Attack of the Show. Chris was named one of the "25 Most Influential People in Independent Film" by Film Festival Today magazine. Ferhan Cook is the managing director of Any Screen Productions, a leading european consul tancy in digital media. Ferhan is a new media veteran with over 20 years experience in the Interactive Media space. One of the original Apple Multimedia evangelists from the early days of Quicktime, Ferhan has spent 11 years in Apple computer in Apple Education, Apple Pacific and Apple Europe divisions, covering the globe in product marketing and software distribution roles. After Apple, Ferhan launched a digital talent and multimedia distribution agency, Mediaplay international, and worked with most of Europe's prominent publishers, creators and technology leaders, such as IBM, Apple, Marc Cander, Zapa Israel. Burda, Discovery, Paramount, Economist, Larousse, Hachette, Flamarion. Ferhan also did a short stint (1999-2000) at the leading interactive agency Razorfish as VP of Interactive TV and Broadband, where she advised clients such as TPremiere, homas Cook, Vodafone and Channel 4 in cross platform and broadband content strategies. In 2001, Ferhan and a couple other partners launched the highly popular Broadband Bananas networking group focussing on Interactive TV, whose useful website enjoyed some 25,000 members. Since 2003, Ferhan has been focussing on Mobile TV content. She has launched the first Mobile TV Screenings and Awards programmes at MIPTV/MILIA, a well-known television and new media event in the south of France.. Ferhan has served on the juries of Mipcom Mobile TV Awards 2005 and 2006, and had a chance to evaluate hundreds of original mobile entertainment content and formats from around the globe. Ferhan's new company Any Screen Productions, focuses on creating mobile and broadband TV content and international acquistion and distribution strategies, and new formats for digital entertainment. Any Screen's mobile clients included MobiTV, Nike, and others. Frank Chindamo, President and Chief Creative Officer, Fun Little Movies: F rank Chindamo is the President and Chief Creative Officer of Fun Little Movies. "FLM" specializes in producing original, live-action comedy films for its mobile channels of entertainment on Sprint-Nextel, Microsoft, Smart Video phones, in the US and many other countries around the world. Theyre known as "Fun Funny Phone Films." Fun Little Movies has been the subject of cover stories in Forbes Magazine and the L.A. Times, and stories in Variety, Hollywood Reporter, CBS Radio, Wired Magazine, CBS TVs Inside Edition, The Chicago Tribune, and several other outlets. Frank Chindamo holds the world's record for most short films made independently. His films have appeared on HBO, Showtime, CBS, PBS, A&E, Playboy, MTV and Comedy Central, etc. Theyve won 20 awards including The American Cine Golden Eagle, The American International Film Festival and a Finalist's Place for Best Short at the Cannes Film Festival. Frank is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern California. At USC, Frank teaches short screenplay writing. He also created the Student Script Database, the tool which will allow directors and writers to pool their talent and is intended to bring the best-written scripts at USC to the screen. As Executive Director of the Staged Screenplay Reading Series at the Lee Strasberg Theater, and as the Director of the Professional Screenwriting Workshops at SONY Studios, Chindamo developed fourteen feature films which have been produced for the screen. Frank also taught at the Gotham Writers Workshop and City University of New York. Frank was also a Vice President of Development at two production companies in LA and has worked as a script consultant on numerous projects.
