Within the world of the Broadband, Social Networks, TV, the Set-Top, Mobile and PVR experience, searching for content, making accessible the content and at the same time, offering an advertising and marketing experience is our challenge. Everything from blogging and Podcasting to Interactive TV is altering the user experience completely. The industry is finding a ready audience with an ever growing demand for better content and a better and a completely personalized experience. With the massive amount of content and technology being thrown at the consumer, navigating through that experience is not only difficult, it can be off-putting. We have entered the world of integrated user experience the post-TiVo generation of consumers and viewers who are watching and listening to new forms of content on new platforms of technology.

William Battino, Americas Media & Entertainment Consulting Services Leader, IBM, Moderator
Alan Cohen, Executive Vice President, Managing Director, Innovations and Entertainm ent, Initiative is responsible for bringing Initiatives clients new technology advertising opportunities, strategic programming concepts, and creative ideas designed to break through the cluttered media landscape, all to bring clients closer to their consumers. Widely regarded as one of the most respected executives in entertainment marketing, Alan spent nearly 25 years serving in senior management positions at 20th Century Fox, ABC and NBC before joining Initiative in January 2005. Previously, he was President, Marketing for 20th Century Fox Film Corporation, where he oversaw all marketing, advertising, media, publicity and research for the film division and launched Ice Age and Unfaithful. Before that time, Alan spent six years at ABC, Inc., rising to the position of Executive Vice President, Marketing, Advertising and Promotion for the ABC Entertainment Group. In this position he ran all consumer advertising and promotion and media for the network and created the campaigns to launch television series and movie events. He used new media and technology to market ABC and its properties and created new content formats for clients. Alan also worked for the ABC Television Network as Executive Vice President, Marketing and Research, where he created ABCs first network-wide marketing efforts. He created new revenues by launching ABCs first integrated marketing programs with a wide array of leading blue-chip advertisers. Prior to his time with ABC. Alan worked for 14 years at NBC, where he rose through the ranks to become Executive Vice President, Marketing. He built the NBC brand through an extensive expansion of new media efforts, innovative programming, and new marketing and advertising platforms. He steered NBC into its first online and new media programming with the industrys first content and advertiser ventures. Alan also developed the networks first marketing efforts, including the creation of joint network/advertiser partnerships to increase revenues. Alan was named Entertainment Marketer of the Year by Advertising Age in 2000; selected as a Top 100 Marketing Executive by Advertising Age twice (1994 and 2000); named Marketer of the Year by Brandweek in 2000; and selected as the first Interactive Marketer of the Year by Advertising Age in 1995. He won an Emmy in 1997 for producing a public service integrated programming and marketing campaign. A summa cum laude graduate of Boston University, where he received a bachelors degree in communications, Alan went on to receive his MBA from Harvard Business School. He is Adjunct Professor at Boston Universitys Los Angeles campus where he teaches the graduate school class in Entertainment Promotion and Advertising. Alan resides in Los Angeles.
Marcien Jenckes, Vice President and General Manager of AIM, which is at the center of one of the largest and most dynamic online and mobile communities. The AIM service is a complete communications console that offers instant messaging, email and mobile text messaging as well as robust voice, video and social networking services. Prior to this role, Marcien was responsible for launching AOL's free web services by overseeing the design, development and programming of the AOL network, including the launch of the new AOL.com, AOLs Welcome Screen, My AOL, the new Video Hub and other web properties that attract more than 100 million monthly visitors. At AOL, Marcien also led the Strategy & Operations team for all of AOL Programming properties. In this capacity, he managed the business planning process, which played a core role in the decision to launch a full free web offering. He also led the Web Development, Video Production, Photo Editing, and Project Management functions. Before coming to AOL, Marcien worked at McKinsey & Company in Washington, DC and was a member of their Media and Technology practice. Marcien holds an MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia, and a BA in Economics and Political Science from New York University.
Sarah Bernard, President, Comedy News Ventures, Inc.: Sarah Bernard recently joined Comedy News Ventures, publisher of a forthcoming comedic news collaboration between IAC/InterActiveCorp and The Huffington Post, as the companys President. She is responsible for the development, operations and management of the company. Previously, she served as General Manager for HuffingtonPost.com since its launch in May 2005. Earlier, Ms. Bernard held various roles at AOL, Inc., most recently as Vice President of Program Strategy & Promotion charged with audience growth for AOLs media business. Before that position, she served as Vice President & General Manager of AOL for Small Business, overseeing the launch and ongoing business strategy, programming and product development for AOLs first line extension. Ms. Bernard was first recruited to AOL for advertising sales development, where she led technology and consumer electronics sales strategies across Time Warners interactive properties. Prior to joining AOL, Ms. Bernard was a Director at WashingtonPost.Newsweek Interactive, where she was responsible for guiding business and product development for washingtonpost.coms recruitment classifieds property, washingtonjobs.com. Ms. Bernard began her career in advertising, where she held account management roles at both TBWA/Chiat/Day and Ketchum Advertising agencies. Ms. Bernard holds a BA in English from UCLA and an MBA from The Leonard N. Stern School of Business at NYU.
Dave Panos - Chief Executive Officer, Co-founder, Pluck: A software industry veteran w ith more than 16 years of start-up experience, Dave has helped define new markets across a range of Internet and Enterprise sectors. He co-founded Pluck as a Venture Partner at Austin Ventures. Previously, he was a co-founder and executive vice president for B2B eCRM provider Question Technologies (sold to Motive). For seven years, he was vice president of marketing and business development at web collaboration pioneer DataBeam before their successful sale to Lotus/IBM. Previously, Mr. Panos ran product management at Easel Corporation, a popular software development tool company that went public. He earned his MBA from Harvard Business School and his undergraduate degree from Furman University.
Peter Friedman: Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, LiveWorld: Peter founded LiveWorld, Inc. in April 1996. With 20 years experience in the executive offices of Fortune 500 companies, he connects strategic and operating strategies, as well as financial metrics, to community strategy. Peter sets the LiveWorld vision and directs overall operations. He is an executive sponsor for several of LiveWorlds major accounts, working with clients to define how our services will directly support the clients business objectives, as well as developing creative concepts for the programs. He is one of the few Internet executives to have launched and managed multiple online services on a global scale. His background is an unusual mix of creative, business, entrepreneurial, and corporate, but has always focused on bringing people together in successful collaboration. Prior to founding LiveWorld, Inc., he was the vice president and general manager of Apple Computers Internet/Online Services business unit. He oversaw the creation, launch, and growth of Apples online services, including AppleLink, Apples global online loyalty marketing and customer support community service, and eWorld, a consumer service based on AOL technology and Internet services such as Salon. During his 12-year tenure at Apple, his responsibilities also included managing Business Systems Marketing and product line management in Apples Macintosh division. Peter holds a Bachelors degree in American History from Brown University, and a Masters in Business Administration from The Harvard Business School.
Rich Skrenta is the Co-Founder and CEO of <http://Topix.net>Topix.net, the Internets largest resource for online news, connecting consumers with local news, classifieds and forums for 32,500 U.S. cities and more than 360,000 topics. Backed by Gannett, Tribune, and McClatchy, Topix crawls more than 50,000 news sources -- including newspapers, magazines, radio & TV stations, weblogs, and government sites -- using its NewsRankTM technology to deliver relevant news and forums to more than 4 million unique visitors every month. Rich is a seasoned technology executive with nearly two decades of industry experience, most recently heading up product development for a variety of products with AOL, including AOL Shopping, AOL Music and Netscape Search and Directory. Previous to AOL, Rich was the co-founder and CEO of NewHoo, which was acquired by Netscape and renamed the Open Directory Project. The worlds largest human edited directory of the web, the Open Directory Project is still used by Google, Alexa, AOL and many other companies. Rich was an engineering manager at Sun Microsystems prior to NewHoo and has also had development roles at Unix Systems Labs and the Amiga UNIX Group at Commodore Business Machines. Rich holds a patent in network security, and has authored many well known pioneering software efforts, including some of the first multi-user online games. Rich graduated from Northwestern University in Computer Science.
William Battino, Americas Media & Entertainment Consulting Services Leader, IBM: Mr. Battino serves as the Americas Media & Entertainment Consulting Services Leader. Mr. Battino has 23 years of consulting experience (Coopers & Lybrand, PwC Consulting) in the areas of strategic planning, transformation, acquisition, market assessment, financial analysis, and organizational assistance. Mr. Battino has distinguished himself by focusing on emerging business developments in the media and telecommunications sectors, including online, Internet and digital media client projects since the mid-1980s. Mr. Battino has done extensive work in the US, Europe and Latin America. For media companies, Mr. Battino has led numerous projects examining corporate strategies, market positioning, and advertising effectiveness. Mr. Battino has led projects in the newspaper, magazine, book, broadcasting, cable television, movie and television production, and electronic publishing industries. Representative clients include Comcast, Dow Jones, Dun & Bradstreet, Knight-Ridder, McGraw-Hill, New York Times, Reed Elsevier, PGA Tour Productions, Time Warner, Thomson and Viacom. For telecommunications companies, Mr. Battino has led strategy engagements in the core network, wireless, global network, video service, yellow pages and data service sectors. Representative clients include AT&T, BellSouth, Lucent, Qwest and Verizon (Bell Atlantic, GTE, and NYNEX). Mr. Battino holds an MBA in Strategic Planning and Marketing from Carnegie Mellon University and a BS degree in Management Information Systems and Psychology from the State University of New York at Albany. Mr. Battino currently serves on the Advisory Board of SUNY Albanys Business School.
Eric Alterman, founder and Chairman, KickApps Corporation: Eric Alterman founded KickA pps Corporation in 2005 and is currently the Chairman of the company. Eric founded numerous software, telecommunications and semiconductor technology ventures, including MeshNetworks (acquired by Motorola in 2005), Military Commercial Technologies, TeraNex and SkyCross. In 1997 Eric founded and operated MILCOM, a venture accelerator company that formed a number of venture-backed companies based on technologies licensed from military contractors like Lockheed Martin, ITT and Raytheon. Other companies include Quadfore, Centerpoint Broadband Technologies, Triton Network Systems, TelAsic and Theseus Logic. Eric was also the founder of JED Broadcasting, a Northwest radio broadcasting company, and New Brand Agency Group, a publishing company based in New York City. He began his career as an attorney where he worked in a variety of areas, including licensing and securities, for Akin, Gump, Hauer and Strauss in Washington, DC. Eric graduated from Tufts University and the Washington College of Law as a member of the Law Review.
