In fact, seems like an idea that should have always been around. While thats the way we may look back on it five years from today, but today we are proud to bring together a group of executives from content and mobile companies who are now making this idea possible. Entertainment Chris Marlowe, Editorial Director, Digital Media, The Hollywood Reporter, Moderator Paul Scanlan is co-founder and current Chief Operating Officer of Mob iTV, Inc., the parent company to MobiTV. Since launching MobiTV in 2000, Scanlan has played a critical role in managing the companies growth from a start-up to the first and only global television network for cell phones. During his tenure, Scanlan has been instrumental in launching MobiTV on three of the nations leading cellular carrier networks, and in securing MobiTVs current line-up of over 20 well-known channels through negotiations with some of the nations largest television content providers. Additionally, Scanlan manages all of the companies International efforts and operations where he has played a key role in generating the initial momentum and hiring the teams to run the new MobiTV offices around the world. Scanlan is a frequent speaker at industry trade shows and conferences, and is widely respected in the mobile entertainment industry for his pioneering efforts in mobile multi-media.Bill Stratton is vice president of business development for Turner N etwork Sales (TNS), the domestic distribution, sales and marketing arm of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.). In this capacity, Stratton is responsible for executing all non-linear platform distribution for the Turner properties including broadband, VOD, interactive television, wireless technology and Wi-Fi. Stratton is based in Atlanta and reports directly to Kevin Cohen, senior vice president of interactive & enhanced television, TNS. A seasoned Turner veteran, Stratton has held positions with Turner Sports and CNN. Most recently, Stratton served as director of business development for TNS, focusing on broadband distribution and Video On Demand. In this role, he played a key role in launching broadband products from CNN Interactive and Turner Sports Interactive properties, including NASCAR.com, The British Open and PGA Championship. Stratton was integral in negotiating distribution agreements with AOL, Road Runner, Real Networks, and Yahoo. In addition, he was instrumental in launching both CNN on Demand and Cartoon Network/Boomerang on Demand with affiliate partners Time Warner Cable and Comcast. Stratton received a bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a masters of business administration from Wake Forest University. He is currently a member of the Cable Telecommunications Association of Marketing (CTAM) and the On-Demand Consortium. Turner Network Sales (TNS), a division of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., is responsible for the sales and marketing of Turner's 11 domestic basic cable networks - TBS, CNN, CNN Headline News, TNT, Cartoon Network, Turner Classic Movies, CNNfn, CNN International, CNN en Español, Turner South and Boomerang - to cable affiliates and special markets throughout the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.Chris Marlowe, Editorial Director, Digital Media, The Hollywood Reporter: Chris Marlowe breaks news and reports on trends of interest to the growing segment of the entertainment industry that utilizes emerging technologies. Before joining The Hollywood Reporter, Chris lived in London and specialized in music by contributing celebrity profiles, feature articles, news and reviews to a wide variety of publications. Bill Sanders, Vice President Programming, Sony Pictures Digital Sales and Marketing: As Vice President of Programming for Sony Pictures Digital Sales and Marketing, a division of Sony Pictures Digital, Bill Sanders oversees the worldwide programming strategy to bring video content into the mobile marketplace. Most recently, Sanders served as President of Pervasive Media where he consulted businesses which focused on entertainment content for mobile devices; in particular, video for cell phones. Prior to that position, Sanders was Senior Vice President for Big Ticket Television, a Paramount/Viacom company, where he oversaw all current network and syndicated programming and spearheaded Big Tickets entry into enhanced television. Throughout his career, Sanders has served as Vice President of Original Programming for HBO and supervising producer for the channels award winning comedy series "Dream On". In addition, he has held positions at Universal Television, Warner Brothers Television, and ABC. Sanders has a bachelor of arts degree in communication from Stanford University.Daniel Tibbets, Executive Vice President, GoTV Labs, GoTV Networks: Daniel Ti bbets brings substantial traditional and new media experience in the entertainment field to GoTV. Prior to joining GoTV, Tibbets spent 16 years at the vortex of the entertainment industry and has held senior executive roles in production and development for companies such as CBS Enterprises, Fireworks Television, Inc., Papazian-Hirsch Entertainment and Twentieth Television. At Twentieth Television, Tibbets ran FOXLAB, Inc. where he co-created and developed the first ever mobisode. In addition, Tibbets executive produced the first two original content mobisodes Love and Hate and Sunset Hotel, which launched in February 2005. Tibbets also developed the first convergence program to air on broadcast television at FOXLAB. In addition to his work at Twentieth Television, Tibbets is credited with the development and sale of the HBO series ROME from his work at Papazian-Hirsch. Tibbets graduated from Arizona State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing with an emphasis in International marketing and business.Louis Gump, Vice President, Mobile, The Weather Channel Interactive: Louis Gump, vice president of mobile at The Weather Channel Interactive (TWCi), has responsibility for all of the companys branded offerings for mobile consumers, including downloadable wireless Doppler radar applications, multimedia offerings, messaging products, and wireless Web sites. During his tenure, TWCi has launched various products such as made-for-mobile video and on-demand messaging, and has continued to integrate mobile offerings into weather.com, the Web site of The Weather Channel. Previously, Gump served as director of business development and director of mobile products and services for TWCi. In those capacities, he had responsibility for distribution relationships for weather.com, as well as operating responsibility for wireless products and services. Prior to joining TWCi in 2001, Gump was director of business development at ExpoExchange and a product manager at 3MC. He also served as a business strategy consultant for Accenture. Gump serves as vice chairman and treasurer of The Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) and is active in other industry associations including the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association (CTIA) and the Online Publishers Association (OPA). A native of Johnson City, TN, Gump received his MBA from the University of Virginia and bachelors degree from Duke University. |
